After rider safety, for many of us motorcycle security is a real priority, and for good reason. A good lock can make all the difference in keeping your pride and joy safe. Litelok have come up with an innovative solution to security that does away with bulky, heavy and outdated chains, with the ultra-light, portable Core “Flexi-O” design. At around half the weight of your standard motorcycle chain, and incredibly flexible, the Core can easily be carried, transported, and stored without putting your back out.

The Litelok U lock is even harder to cut! You need like 2 blades to cut off! Hiploc is the same! Best on the market.

Doesn’t matter, if someone has the time to bring an angle grinder, you damn sure know they are also bringing along a few spare blades. If your bike is locked up overnight, it’ll take 5 minutes to cut though, done.

If you want more fun, how about a series of videos starring your tool guy attempting to cut through everyday objects. I bet a sock will give him more trouble both with the croppers a well as the grinder.

D-lock much better as you can't bend it afterwards, which may force the thieves to cut twice

Sorry but looks like first angle grinder disk was destroyed not thank to the chain but due to not very good handling of the user. But i should say that this scenario is more closer to real world thief user. Because they will hurry and will be nervous and may lack of experience with tools as shown in video.

Also remember that if this lock is elevated and can’t be pinned to the ground with a foot, it becomes even more difficult to angle grind.

If you aren’t fastening the bike to something then you might as well use a disc lock - it’s far more portable and just as difficult to remove. If you do have something solid to attach it to where it gets left daily, then a top box and a big fat chain does the job.

Until you realize they actually cut the brake disk. Not common I think but it does happen. Maybe more so with motorcycles though. Always attach your bike to something solid and use more than 1 lock. Using a disk brake in combination with a proper chain is good.

I Have an nice little disc break lock and its great on the go, but they will just cut through the disc itself bypassing the system entirely. abus granit 68 victory x-plus That is the disc break lock I use and it actually saved my mt07 last week. Amazinf design. But I noticed they couldn't effectively cut the lock as it independently spins in at least 3 places and has very awkward angles. So they just attacked my disc. For out and around town i would recommend that product though brilliant peoce of engineering.

As someone who had his ‘blade stolen last year (and has just bought a ‘new’ 1996 one) I think I’ll get one of these. Had an Almax series 3 on my bike that they angle grinded off

I doubt this is any more grinder resistant than an almax III chain, sadly. More likely it's less. Litelok X1 or especially X3 however are significantly more grinder resistant, reaching motorcycle diamond. And much lighter!

Should've used battery powered angle grinder to do the test.. just like what bike thieves would use.

Looks fairly easy to cut with a anglegrinder. You want something much more solid, you would want chains from Protector or Almax chains, they are the best there is.

Below are some research videos for those that care. Though the locks in the videos below are different than what Urban Rider has here, and specifically in the LockPickingLawyer video. The founder reached out to The LockPickingLawyer and asked how he clip a Litelok so easily (which I feel is a positive sign of the company as a whole). If I were to guess, The LockPickingLawyer gave is feedback to Litelok and they got to work to create something more secure while keeping their design DNA and released what we see here in the Urban Rider video. It is really nice to see Litelok improve their locks after the first set of youtube videos (like the ones below) handing them a possibly bad rap. Why dont manufacturers coat chains or u locks with a soft metal such as aluminium, the metal will fill the pores of your grinding wheel and it will be unusable.

I know from experience that high end tool steel is incredibly hard to grind. Surely the locks could be make with actu tungsten steel or something

lockpickinglawyer got through the bicycle litelok gold in 16 seconds by using the proper type of cable cutters. Almost all their promo tests use either bolt cutters, or cable cutters only rated for copper wire.

You don't say how many discs you used + by poor handling you broke some if not all of the discs anyway. So - would someone handling the angle grinder properly just cut through with one disc?
