I guess it's not just me. Lol, I'm not as quirky as I thought I was. Seriously though, 4-5 years ago and even pass that seems so close yet distant at the same time. It's like a faint memory of a small, insignificant thing that seemingly happened yesterday but it actually happened years prior. Weird, yet interesting.

it's a big encouragement for me, I abandoned art in middle school because of depression. Just getting back in in 2021 as a senior and oooh boy am I bad! I keep wanting to stop again, but I know if I do, I'll be mad at myself in my 20's when I go to restart! Im happy to see other people who aren't shy to show their growth. When I'm a god at art in a few years from now, I'll be sure to show off my bad drawings too, to future people who need the same encouragement i did.

it's all about never giving up! it doesn't matter how long you've been at it, as long as you haven't turned the other way. The fact that you've been telling yourself "One day..." means you still have that spark, and that's what's most important for art. I believe in you! I have the same problem, where the art I want to make in my head doesn't match my skill. the only solution to that is to put yourself in an environment that pressures you to create, with friends who don't pressure you at all. joining an art server/subreddit and participating in mini-challenges you can't back out from, surrounded by people who'll give you critique and encouragement but most importantly draw with you, goes a long way. try starting small, make very simple black and white chibis, then go up in difficulty as you can do it faster and faster!

Yeah! I believe In you to. I only just started animating and it looks fun but it’s honestly so tiring. But the satisfaction of seeing your hard work go into play, even if it’s not that good is probably one of the best things out there. I know it sounds childish, but not giving up to frustration is really important. I believe in you. ❤️

hey, you can do it! if you want to draw, just start drawing and see how it turns out, it doesn't have to be great! and you can learn the things and skills you forgot again :)

Skill has a different meaning to talent. Skill is technical knowledge on how to do things, talent is the "vibe" or instincts you have about where to go. Skill is knowing how to do, talent is a feeling pointing you in the right direction. I dunno, I just thought it was more appropriate. Just a heads up fellow Undertaler!

I mean not necessarily. Especially once you get to a certain level where your old art wasnt bad, but your new stuff is just more polished and you’ve further defined further certain skills, your old art isn’t really gonna make you cringe, even when you see significant improvements.

@Carl The Meatgrinder I did actually learn stuff about art over time from other artists and ect, and I never wasted 4 years of my life. Not every artists starts the same way but mostly similar sometimes. And you didnt have to say anything about it.
