I think they were only able to get Ted Danson for this skit by telling him Peter Ceterra would be singing his theme song, and they were only able to get Peter Ceterra by telling him he'd be singing a theme song about Ted Danson. Classic.

I was a 90s kid and Cheers was one of the few shows i watched as a kid that wasn't a cartoon including Gilligan's island and I love lucy. :D Nick at night was my jam when my cartoons ended at night.

Another tie in to Ted Danson and Peter Cetera. Back in 1987, Ted was in a movie called Three Men and a Baby, it was a big movie at the time. Peter Cetera had a song called Daddy's Girl in that movie's soundtrack. So, maybe Ted knew Peter from that and asked him to do this?
