A Little Egret Egretta garzetta is shown fishing in a chalk stream passing through a small London park, and containing an apparently infinite supply of Common Minnows Phoxinus phoxinus! This bird had first been seen four years earlier, and for the last two winters it had been the dominant Little Egret using this territory, seeing off rival Egrets whenever they had been spotted. The thumbnail photograph was taken a few days earlier.
