Little Feat performing Willin' probably their best known song. Written by and sung here by the hugely talented and sadly missed Lowell George Live in 1977. What an amazing band they were then....such sensitivity for each others playing....great balance.
Lyrics:
I been warped by the rain, driven by the snow
I'm drunk and dirty, don't ya know,
And I'm still willin'
Out on the road late last night,
Seen my pretty Alice in every head light
Alice, Dallas Alice
I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
I've driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed
If you give me: weed, whites, and wine
And you show me a sign
I'll be willin' to be movin'
I've been kicked by the wind, robbed by the sleet
Had my head stoved in, but I'm still on my feet
And I'm still... willin'
Now I smuggled some smokes and folks from Mexico
Baked by the sun, every time I go to Mexico
And I been from Tuscon to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
I've driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
I've driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me: weed, whites, and wine
And you show me a sign I'll be willin' to be movin'

He must have known or spoke with a old school trucker. I don't mean the dude that delivers pepsi locally either. I mean a coast to coast old school outlaw who was on the level. This tune embodies what trucking was to me 28 yrs and 3 million miles ago. Those times and most of those drivers are long gone but damn... the memories of the characters I met, the things I have seen, and the adventures we had live forever. It was back when the only one watching you was God. Gimmie some weed, whites n wine n show me a sign bc Im still willin' to be movin. Keep the shiny side up for all you old hands still gettin' it done.

Little Feat were a great concert band . because They sounded like their records. They were getting big then Lowell George passed away. They toured with another singer. I saw a show in Miami he was good , but he wasn't Lowell. But if I'm in a bar and this is on the juke box I play it. And everyone stills enjoys it.

I saw Feat for the first time in 1978 at the Shrine Auditorium in LA. My brother in law had been a Feat Freak for years before, had turned my sister, and my brother on to them. After coming home from overseas, we all went, and it was absolutely amazing. The following year when he went on his solo tour, he was scheduled for five performances, and we had tickets for all five shows. But a week before, I got a call from my brother in law, telling me he had died of an overdose. We were all so devastated. When Feat got back together again, I’ve seen them about four or five times. And they were still good. But it has never been the same. For anyone who doesn’t know, or doesn’t get it, you’ll never know how good they were back then. Music just isn’t the same, and not near as good as it was in the 70’s.

I almost cry every time I hear this song. Not only because Lowell is long gone, but because of the death of the incomparable Richie Hayward. He was a most phenomenal drummer: so incredibly tight and right, but also supplied the wonderful high harmonies. I was extremely privileged to see them many times in Boston and Lowell a few days before his death. Thanks for posting this. RIP Lowell and Richie.

I have always been aware of this since I read a Western novel about a young gunfighter, who was learning from an older one how to do quick-draws. He told the young gunfighter, "You have those big hands, it makes everything easier." The big hands don't really make EVERYthing easier, but in some cases - like Billy Paine's wonderful piano tinkling - it's true(Thank God).

I was fortunate to see LG and Little Feat in 1977. Had tickets for 1978, but was arrested for selling a pound of pot. Was in MSP when I learned of his death. Cried like a baby for 2 days! He was the finest slide guitar player I ever saw after the death of Duane Allman!

Saw them April of '77 at Virginian Tech. Great show. Afterwards, they went to a local watering hole, replaced the band playing that night, and jammed until closing time! I miss him awful.
