When I lived in the area in the late 1990s to 2001, I felt so spoiled to be able to walk to that street. Rasoi was my spot! I would walk in... and roll out, from all the food! I would even take British visitors in there and they always left impressed.

You do not know for example that 30-35 years ago, I and friends frequented the spectacular Indian restaurants on East 6th Street in Lower Manhattan specializing in northern Indian cuisine, nor later that I frequented the equally spectacular Indian restaurants on what is called Indian Row in Jersey City, New Jersey which specialize in southern Indian cuisine. These are establishments owned and operated proudly by Indian families and which are patronized more commonly than not by Indian immigrants themselves. Trust me, we are not talking Indianized burgers here.
The ethnic enclave of India Square, especially between Tonnele Avenue and JFK Boulevard on Newark Avenue. Is is part of the Jersey City neighbourhood of Journal Square.
Newark ave has had a few indian shops since the late 80s. During that same time journal square and JC heights was a very dangerous place for indians. there were racist attacks going on for several years into the early 90s. Unlike attacks on Asians in todays time, attacks on indians during the 90s was strictly based on bigotry and hatred for the culture! Luckily times have changed and now it is a great place to visit!

I always things by Indians shy on showing their Indians fonts if you will visit to Chinese Street and America you will see his Chinese points everywhere but I don't know why Indians don't use Hindi fonts☹
One of the worst restaurant is Curry On on Indian Street. They should be closed. People should avoid them. Worst owners who run this place. A paradise for rats and germs.
