A little league batter rose after being hit in the head to console the upset pitcher who threw the pitch during a Little League regional tournament game Tuesday in Waco, Texas. FULL STORY: abc7chicago.com/little-league...
This is a beautiful moment. One of the worst feelings in the world is when you think you physically hurt somebody and you didn't mean to. It makes your stomach drop because everything in you knows it was wrong.
@DatingMatis156 Exactly. Sure this is cute, but cuteness doesn't win games. Aggressiveness, playing hard, and concentration is still needed, and sometimes someone gets hurt. It's life.
Im not even gonna say good sportsmanship. Im gonna say phenomenal parenting. This is amazing. To see a young man cry and wear his emotions in front of an entire crowd and another young man to console him is truly amazing. When I was growing up we were told “men don’t show emotion”This is the definition of manning up!
I promise my comment isn't meant to be rude, but I was in and out of foster care most of my childhood and had an abusive mother who frequently pulled a gun on me, and chased me around the neighborhood with it. It made me into a kind kid who wanted to help anyone who was suffering like I was. I remember being told that my parents must have raised me right. Sometimes kids act well when raised poorly, and some kids act bad, when raised right. The kids in this video deserve the most credit for their behavior.
I don’t know why you’re giving men any credit for this happening. The kids, both of them, did exactly the opposite of what men do in these situations every time. What a kid, seems more apt here.
@@StayNightMH How did I misinterpret what he said? Firstly, he said "what a man move", implying the kid acted like a man or did something that he learned from a man, and I just don't see any evidence of that. I mean, you could easily find video of what happens when men plunk each other with baseballs. Often, these situations turn into fist fights. And, the pitcher was standing at the plate, everyone expecting him to just shake it off and keep pitching. All the parents, all the men, just sat back and expected the kid to keep playing. It was a kid, acting like a kid, who found a moment that was more important than the game and walked out to the mound to console the guy. If anything, this kid did the opposite of what men and adults typically do in these situations. Secondly, he gave credit to the parents, without any evidence that parenting had anything to do with this situation. I work with teenage boys who have been stuck in the foster care system their entire lives, boys who don't have parents, have never had parents. And I see them act selflessly, compassionately, kindly every day. I've met countless young men, and young women when I worked with young women, who develop strong characters without good parenting, if anything, despite growing up with absolutely terrible parenting. I can think of many friends of mine who also became selfless and compassionate people who now work in my community everyday despite not having good parents. The kid did something special here. We should learn from him, not give ourselves credit for his actions. The parents, if anything, seemed surprised by the turn of events. Why would they deserve credit for that?
Can’t have a nice moment without someone saying MAN BAD, saying man would not do this everytime [which doesn't even make logical sense] asserting people's motivations and expectations [ a mind-reader?], asking for sources, and immediately trying to discredit men. Sacrifice and going beyond yourself IS a manly behavior, look at cops, firemen, military, fathers, husbands, our great leaders. Fantastic men. In the case of those without family, it's a testament to the genetic greatness of men. This boy was raised well. He would look at Andrew's comment and say, actually no, I didn't do something so great, and would give credit to the other men in his life, that's what we do. Discipline, remaining humble, recognizing that we aren't the center of the universe. The only thing we learned from Andrew's comment is that he is weak & arrogant and that he couldn't just sit back at this display of strength without a self-hating virtue signal.
I don't know what is more beautiful....the concern the pitcher shows or the reassurance that he's ok from the batter. Both sets of parents should be tremendously proud of these fine young men
We need this type of compassion and respect all over the world not just sports. Respect to both young men and the parents who are raising them. This is beautiful
This is how sports are supposed to be! When I was a high school wrestler, I broke my neck in a simple half nelson. The other wrestler was devastated to the point of wanting to quit the sport. He used a straight up move with exactly the technique and force needed. It was just random chance. Coulda killed me, but didn't. Wasn't trying to injure me at all. Fortunately he stayed in his program and I'm told he got a Div I scholarship. As an adult, I'm proud of his grief and his concern for my wellbeing, and I'm proud of his effort and contribution to his school. The guy was a warrior with a heart of gold. I wish more pros were like that.
I've watched it 5 times, cried 5 times. Right when he tosses that helmet aside, something about that moment, where he's contemplating how to handle it, and then decides what's the right thing to do. He just tosses that helmet aside, like "hey the game doesn't matter, my friend is hurting." What a kid, he's obviously being raised well.
I know how the pitcher felt. I'm 66 years old now, when I was 12 years old our little league team had a cookout. All the players were naturally on the field playing ball. I had a pitch get away from me and hit the batter. He was a friend and teammate and the pitch hit him above the wrist breaking his arm. This bothered me so much that I couldn't pitch any more and eventually ended me playing baseball. After all these years, it still gets to me.
With all the bullying, cheating, scandals, and other crimes going on in sports these days, it is just so refreshing to see two kids acting with so much class on the baseball field. These kids deserve some awesome awards or something. Total heard, compassion and sportsmanship. The kid in the blue uniform is a role model for others to follow. Awesome!
@@mw9688 You aren't going very far in life with that attitude. This is little league baseball not the pros. Both of the kids in this video will probably never play professional baseball, but they understand that hurting another human being is something that none of us should ever want to do and if you do hurt someone it isn't all that hard to say sorry and do your best so it doesn't happen again.
Wow what awesome kids. Nobody wants to injure someone else. It's an accident but it's beautiful that the kid goes over to hug him and tell him he's okay. Remarkable kids.
It warms my heart to see boys showing kindness and reassurance to each other. Too often it feels that they're not allowed to express their emotions and have to bottle them up because they'll look weak. Boys and men, please be kind to yourselves, it's okay to cry and it takes strength to practice vulnerability ❤️
It's sad to see... Society often promotes to boys to be emotionless... tough... resolute. When emotions leak from boys it's a reminder that it's not easy to hold it all in.
Boys that act like this usually make great men in years to come. Mature, empathetic, strong and courageous! Great parenting shown here as well. Hats off to the boys and their parents. 😊
This is just so wholesome all around. The fact that the pitcher is so full of compassion and empathy, the batter returning that compassion and empathy in such a selfless way, it's just beautiful.
The sportsmanship and compassion from this young man is second to none. Way to lead by example! His parents raised him right. They should be incredibly proud. ❤
That was very sweet. That pitcher has a huge heart, and what a great move by the batter to recognize what the pitcher was going through and try to put him at ease. Class acts all the way around. Good job, young men! The pros could definitely learn something from you.
im a dad of 3 kids. they played sports . always tried to teach sportsmanship. this video,, these 2 wonderful kids. of course i cried!!!!!!! haha. 2 kids showed us adults ,who think we know everything, know very little. whatever it was to have that young man walk to the mound and tell his opponent,,its ok... this is why I love sports.2 great mature young guys. congrats to their parents. they will be at the espn espys next year..love em ,,love it . lets all learn from it..
@@IslanderloverBKK A great dad, or just adult should know that he don't know everything. People who think they know everything just because they are adult or parents, are the worst.
I love moments like this watching children play sports. We take ourselves too seriously. You don’t have to be an adult to teach heart and compassion through action.
This some Real Sportsmanship. You obviously could tell it was an accident and it legit killed his motivation a bit. Seeing that the other kid forgave him and went as far as walking up to hugging him is the biggest move I’ve ever seen. Love to see it 👏🏼
There are too many life lessons in this one short piece of video that you would want to mention. Kindness, Sympathy, Compassion, Humility, Respect . It would be impossible for me to tell you the number of times I have replayed this video over and over and over again simply to watch the "respect in sport"
Aw, pure heart and humanity shown on both sides. And I’m glad it was shown, it’s okay for boys to be hurt and to cry. It’s okay to show emotion, and it’s okay to show affection, a friendly comforting hug. It’s part of being human and not something to be ashamed of. It’s nice to see such concern, consideration and compassion for those who are “rivals” but brotherhood of man.
He didn't try to hit him. His fastball got away from him. That's why we wear helmets. It's great to see a young person show such maturity. I've seen many grown men who were being paid millions of dollars to play unjustly charge the mound. The fact that the pitcher is so distraught after says a lot about his character. Obviously, both have very good parents and coaches.
I couldn't love this more than I do. Both boys are incredible human beings! THIS is what sports are supposed to be like! THIS is what real heroes look like. Kudos to the boys for their compassion toward each other; kudos to the parents who are raising them! You're all doing an astounding job at being human!
Both of those boys parents should be proud they are raising good human being. The pitcher for feeling upset for hurting an opponent…. And the batter for showing empathy and forgiveness to someone who hurt him. Truly beautiful to see. People are scary nowadays… good to see some good ones coming up ❤
More adults need to react to situations like this boy who got hit did. What a teaching moment to watch. Such a GREAT example to everyone. Good job parents on raising such a respectful and kind young son.
Forgiveness is one of the most beautiful things. Empathy and compassion. I got hit in the face when I was 12 years old with a bat and it knocked me out. I woke up to the girl screaming and crying. Right away I tried to comfort her and told her it’s ok…
That was the best reaction to someone who feeling bad about what happened, the young man showed real love 👍🏿 that's GOD🙏🏿 prayers go to you and your family
Why did this make me so emotional? That was so sweet of the boy who got hit to give the other kid a hug and forgive him so quickly. That’s my goal this year to be able to forgive people quickly and not hold grudges
@Big Guy Yeah, but the pitcher still felt guilty over it. The batter still could have been hurt. I'd feel guilty too if I accidentally hurt someone who didn't deserve it, even with safety risks accounted for.
Give That Kid A MEDAL . I love ❤️ seeing this level of compassion for your fellow man . This whole world would be so much better if we just treated others with that much compassion and forgiveness when we are wronged . That display of kindness, compassion, love, empathy can just lift and renew so much hope in a person . Praise the Moms and Dads that raise their Children to have that level of integrity. We need more of that kind of character that we all just saw on display active in our world today
This is what empathy, compassion and sportsmanship is all about. Phenomenal representation of good sportsmanship and brotherhood by these young men. Kudos to the coaches, family and friends that inspired these fine young men. 🍁
This is bigger than an at bat, pitch, win or loss. This is two human hearts on display . Be kinder people . Love and help one another. We all need one another. Great example fellas.
@@janesmith4h I've done my fair share of crying really hard, almost to the point of passing out or even getting sick and not once have I ever had snot in my mouth. 🤢
I'm sure being a parent and watching your child do this makes you proud🤗❤️ this young man he has so much character and compassion hats off to the parents and their beautiful son it's not just a game it's how you handle yourself on and off the field
It is Not the level of susses that shows the Melat of a character But how we handle failures . Both of these young people showed they are Made from solid Gold.! We need More of this today
Superstars is right. I don't know who the young man in the blue was but I will probably never forget this. Stunning display of compassion. God what a great young man. And equally so for the pitcher. Such great kids.
WAY TO GO DUDE!!! What a wonderful heart ❤️ you have. Don't you ever change from that. The world needs to see more of this so that they can be more like this.
I have shown this video to rugby players in Ne Zealand. I am so proud of both batter and pitcher. You both should be so proud and batter I very watched this a few times. Be proud of yourself. Cool dude and your parents should be proud of both you and the way you've being brought up.
Amazing sportsmanship in these young gentlemen. Respect for all the coaches and players that came in to comfort them as well. This is how it should be.
That’s about the nicest most compassionate moment I’ve ever seen. That boy should be proud of himself, you’ll go far son. Well done mum and dad for raising a wholesome kid ❤
Accidents happen, poor kid was obviously shook up. So glad to see everyone came together & handled it well. It happens in MLB & you see players get shook up when it was genuinely unintentional.
Just when you start losing hope for humanity, you see, not one, but two, perfect examples of two young men who gives you hope again that all might not be lost quite yet.
