This is a handy way to make a miniature consumable rocket stove. You only need a saw and a drilling method, and of course, some suitable wood.
You can make a few of these with your electric drill and throw them in your firewood stack for an easy way to heat a heal in case of an emergency like a power outage.

Why not drill holes before cutting piece from the log? That would seem more stable to me and easier to manipulate.

Probably because there aren't any electrical outlets on that tree

That's a great idea. I'm sorry to be pedantic but the 'drill' is called an auger drill bit. It refers to the twisty style of the cutting edge and the helix to remove the waste. In England it's known as a Scotch eyed auger. I hope that helps people who try to buy one. If you notice the loop you pass the branch through has a tapered end. That is so you can put the tapered end on a log end and smash it to make pegs when you're constructing stuff. The pegs should fit the hole the drill makes.

I had a perfectly good clefted rock, lol 😂 A few other users suggested drilling it out before cutting it from the tree, brilliant. 💡

Great video. Might be easier if you drill the holes whale the log is still attached to the full tree then cut off the piece you want 😊

You could cut a piece with branch and have a handle so it can be lifted and moved if necessary?

@GlowingPinesFarm

You can use one this size for a little over an hour. So basically you can do one meal on it, or you can snuff it out and boil water 3 or 4 times. I like keeping a few handy in case of a power outage. Also, relighting one that's already been "started" is quite a bit faster than a fresh one. Thank you for watching!

The tool you’re using, you don’t turn the pilot in to start the bit. Take a healthy stick and set the point then tap it down to start.

When did a Pioneers's Auger or Scotch Eye Auger become a settlers wrench. Its an Auger, a wrench is for tightening nuts, plumbers use wrenches, mechanics use wrenches. People making holes in wood use AUGERS........
@GlowingPinesFarm
