I don't think so in that circumstance. I think he just yanked on the stick too hard when he saw me coming in, and since he had plenty of aero damage at that point already, put it into a spin. He was able to recover it quickly though, which is all the more credit to him. If he had blacked out I don't think he would've had time to recover the plane.
