It's so funny the way these influences tumble together. Jimi left this song to popular music, Derek picked it up in tribute (Warren rips the Bobby Whitlock vocal harmony addition), and now here we find the Trucks/Allman generation wading in the water that SRV left perfectly still. I'm so glad to have this music
I can hear the sadness in Eric's voice as he honors his good buddy Jimi. Imagine at this point in life as to the many ups and downs he's lived through and overcame to reach a place of relative comfort while many of his peers have passed. RIP Jimi...your good buddy Eric still remembers.🙌🏼
I'M DAMN GLAD I was born early enough to see the whole ride, even Clapton rising to his genius, and he is a genius on this instrument,it takes a lifetime to try and master the Stratocaster guitar,he did in his twenties, and formed many bands, looking for that perfect sound all the time,he was spouting the best music of our youth, live long eric
@@tomcooley3778 NEVER TO BE REPEATED, we got to see the genius of the rocking world,i've lived a full life and still going, man we were blessed to see it all transpire, band after band, solos, duo's all of it,yeah it was a damn good time to be alive
Listen here, Warren Haynes is a mechanic, nothing more, nothing less...Duane Allman was a pioneer, Warren is a settler at best...Derek Trucks is an artist, but not a pioneer.... most of you on here do not stop and listen long enough to know what either is.
Warren is one of those rare, PERFECT players that never hits a wrong note. His guitar work with the Brothers, Mule, and his solo stuff brings tears to my eyes at times. Check out "Your wildest Dreams" from Man in Motion....pure genius! And his voice is like a '59 Les Paul in the neck position.
The good ole days of great music played by great musicians without computers but with trial and error and hope... nice to see them keeping the songs current for 'new' listeners..
Such a beautiful soulful sound performed by the best at their craft. It is great to see how many people truly appreciate The genius of Eric Clapton, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks.
Gotta say Haynes solo is amazing!! What a player! And love how each guitarist does a different type of solo but equally awesome!!! Just had a wet day dream over this.... thumbs up if you agree!!
I love the Allman Brothers--I have loved them since 1970--so this is not a poke at them but a statement of great respect: the Allman Brothers are the best back up band ever. They can play any song with anybody and make it greater than it was before. Clapton is great here, and together he & the Allman Brothers make this a wonderful "Little Wing."
I just wish everyone would shut up, listen to the music for what it is, appreciate the talent and stop comparing everyone...these guys don't play to prove anything to anyone or to try to be the best of all time, they play because its what they love doing...if you're playing a Hendrix tune with Eric Clapton you've probably done alright for yourself
Damn. This takes me back to visiting Duane and Greg’s graves. So many great memories of summers past in Georgia. I feel fortunate to have seen ABB live so many times.
Everyone who has the guts to play this song has to play it like they stole it. It is one of the greatest underrated songs of all time. Thanks Jimmy. My favorite version is Derek and the dominos live from 1970 where Bobby Whitlock is playing the hell out of his b 3. Peace and love to my fellow rock and roll lovers.
I hate these phones you type one thing they say another I am so happy these videos are out there for all of us to enjoy that could not attend all these shows.
, never saw this. Thanks for throwing it up like that. Last time I got those chills was the first time I saw the last waltz. These guys have some serious universal soul vibe thing emanating from their fingers. Anyone who doesn't understand the love here is sadly a lost human who has never been on the highway. Ya, that was a Neil reference for you kids. Now get off my damn lawn!
We all know this! He holds back, been holding back for years. His Crossroads festivals where he brings new talent onto the world stage shows this. Clapton is GOD!
I love this song and this is a great version, as the years go by it brings additional memories to us all whether it be remembering where one was the first time one heard Jimi's version, Eric's tribute on the Layla album, Stevie' s epic cover down to the current day. This is a fantastic version and each artist adding their take upon it is a gift to our senses so enjoy it.
I am do glad this misunderstanding and videos are out here for those of less fortunate to attend all these awesome shows we will never be able see agaiin.
I have to laugh at these conversations about who is the "best" or even better guitarist or any player or band. At the level all these guys have reached, there is no best, it's like arguing about ice cream flavors, they are all very tasty, but you can only declare your favorite, not the best.
Just an AWESOME video!!!!!! I wish I started to learn how to play guitar at the age of 5 instead of 66, then maybe I could play close to the level of these guys!!!
i cant stop watching Eric clapton, i am a blues guitar player and i have composed many blues songs of my own, my rythm, my solo, my lyrics., and Eric clapton has alywas been my mentor, and still, and i am from Saudi Arabia, and the culture of the blues is really rare, thats why i am sad, but i have a plan, i am trying to introduce my community to the blues, so i will be the first one, and who knows, maybe some American companies could invest this music here. but if i make this come true. i will be proud of my self. please pray for me
It sounds like you are light years evolved away from the typical muslim and their 7th century primitive rhetoric. One day that rectum of the world will be changed into a sheet of glass. My advice to you is try to get to the US before this is a reality. Don't bring anyone else.
I love Eric Clapton. He was able to survive the worse of addictions and create places that others can use to survive. Under these drugs, people can become insan. say and do things that are not them. If you have never experienced this or have been close to someone who is in the throes of this disease, you will not understand
MarshallBennett64 Yes ==> Eric is used to be number two, Jimi showed him some his regular stuff 50 years ago and Eric got depressed... but I like him, too...
MarshallBennett64 I heard a solo around about then.....no riff How do we know that EC was impressed ? EC always reacts when he plays this song........but then again, unlike us, he know JH.
Yeah he shoots Derek a little sideways grin. I watched a movie recently about when Jimi Hendrix first went to London and started playing in small clubs. He gets on stage with Clapton and does this incredible rift, and Clapton unplugged his guitar and left the stage saying ' is he really this fucking good'? I don't know if that actually happened that way, but Clapton was crushed when Jimi died and he recorded Little Wing in tribute not long after.
I was fortunate enough to get tickets to the Crossroads Festival in Dallas, TX in 2004. And saw him touring in '08 I think it was, in Raleigh, NC. He had Derrick Trucks (nephew of Butch) of the Allman brothers with him. Great show, Derrick is a very underrated guitarist. I hope the Crossroads show in NYC later this year will have BB King, he's getting older. Fingers Crossed!
Unbelievable that 75 people don't like this. Amazing guitar work with a cool light show behind them. Thanks for posting this. It's a favorite song and I have never been able to find Hendrix doing it. Stevie Ray Vaughan doesn't do for me what this interpretation did, get lost in the music which is what a great song does.
Yes. These are great musicians. But being a great musician is not everything. Songwriters are, I believe the real heroes. Writing a great song is hard to do. But once you do it, it lives on through the ages.
breathtaking !No need to talk about the guitars, they do by themselves ! Warren backs up perfect Eric's voice ! AT 1.00 till 1.10 it's really AB-sound !!!!!!Derek without slide.....
There's a stage in heaven somewhere and Clapton, Trucks, Haynes, and Allman are all on it. Oh wait, apparently it was just 2009. My god, what talent!!! To try and differentiate which is the best is fruitless. They all rock. And rock hard.
