The tower has been demolished at the Littlewoods building on Edge Lane, Liverpool. Work is now well under way but the tower was found to be unsafe. Video of the demolition can be found at Paul Frost RU-vid Channel.
Great update Jeff yeah I heard the clock tower part getting demolished like the end of an era. Sad to see it coming down. I remember the awful fire a few years ago. Let’s hope they rebuild the tower.
The way the tower was demolished means no original bricks was salvaged to restore it to grade 2 in my opinion, I doubt it will ever look the same again. It was a landmark in it's day mainly for the clock and then it became an eyesore or an embarrasment for many who don't remember those days or wasn't around. I grew up seeing that tower almost everyday but our generation have mostly passed on and modern buildings are popping up everywhere and I feel that building will dissapear as we knew it from some excuse or other to make way for the next generation growing up. Nobody remembers the Festival held there and prob won't remember the tower in a few years to come. Sad but progress never stops for anyone.
