Brad looks so good.. I cant imagine never seeing them live again though.. like im crying even thinking that.. thankfully i've met them all, have all their signatures tattooed on my back, and have filled my bucket list many times over with amazing concerts.
Maybe how Brad looks back at Clapton or whatever, I keep going back to those early Aerosmith records and they blow my mind now more than ever. Big thank you to Brad and the band. Thanks so much to both of you for sharing your time and passion with us. :)
In 1978, I drove across the country in a beat up Chevy with one cassette tape I recorded ... Toys on one side, Rocks on the other. I just let it play the whole way. Magical times. Great interview Joe and Brad!
Joe always brings us the GOOD stuff, from those who made and make rock and blues what they are. Thanks, Joe, for your great interviews. Looking forward to Brad Whitford’s story! ❤️.¸¸.☆
Lol! That Laura troll makes negative comment about your support of Joe and Brad and then posts a comment telling us Carlos Santana eyed her in a green mini! Yeah, right! Someone is self fixated. Loved your reply!
I have seen Aerosmith numerous times starting in 1972 and into the 2000's. I got to meet them backstage once and they were great The best time though was when I saw Brad at a McDonald's off of I95 in Connecticut and spoke to him for about 15 minutes. He was super nice . They had just released Done with Mirrors and I told him I was glad they were back. He was very happy. As usual another great interview by Joe who knocks it out of the park everytime.
In some sense these guys connecting here represents a torch passing element that is touching and cool to consider.... you know joe has great respect, listen to the tone in his voice.....
This is a tremendous exchange. Both guys are such a powerhouse of talent. I will always be a huge Aerosmith fan and a huge Joe Bonamassa fan. In my opinion, Get Your Wings will always be one of the most powerful and best Aerosmith albums.
@@jerrytee2688 Totally agree and I think the reason that album still speaks to me is it was not spoon feed daily by the radio stations like "Toys in the Attic" was.
Stellar interview of Brad Whitford. Saw Areosmith back in '78, 79, '88. Always felt Brad was underrated as a solid guitarist/musician. Love how you asked Brad about the recording standards back in the '70s. Still personally enjoy real live tracking, mixing. There's a special magical vibe with the old school style mixing with modern day recording gear. Cheers to your channel.
Brad never got the credit he deserved. A lot of fans unknowingly credited Joe Perry for tons of great riffs and amazing leads never realizing that a lot those licks were actually Brad. I’m a huge fan of their “early” albums, the second half not as much. Rocks is one of my all time favorites followed by Get Your Wings, debut album, Toys in the Attic, Live and then Draw the Line. Great to see Brad in good health.
Agreed,.heard a bootleg from ‘75 with mic by brads side,..great tone, clean technique, and cool swinging rhythm....yeah ‘70s Aerosmith was special, after that not so much.....giving credit due, Perry’s was a good slide player and is all over the great draw the line album
First time I saw Aerosmith I believe it was in '79 and it was the Draw the Line tour at the Boston Garden. Golden Earring opened for them. We were on the floor, couple rows back center stage. Both bands were awesome and we got blown away!
Always a great interview with Joe leading the conversation. You hear stories that never have been told before. Awesome!! Always been a fan Brad. Thanks Joe for taking on this venture of bringing our rock heroes to us in a average guy kind of atmosphere. I hope that made sense.

I’m a lifelong Aerosmith fan and Brad Whitford has always been my favorite guitarist. This is, by far, the best interview I’ve had the pleasure of viewing. Many many thanks to Joe for posting. You’ve made an old member of the Blue Army quite happy in these tenuous times!
The last time I saw Aerosmith was December 6th 1987 in the Saginaw MI civic center. Frehleys Comet opened the show. Amazing show. Thank you Mr. Whitford and thanks to you too Joe Bonamassaa.

Awesome, Bad boys from BOSTON! I grew up in Beantown aka Boston and as a teenager in the 80’s we always had Aerosmith blasting out of the boom box….while hanging on the street corner! Many times Aerosmith played at the Boston Garden on New Years, special memories for sure! One time we were told they were practicing in Somerville in a basement off of Somerville Ave, we walked by but I can’t remember anything else about it I grew up in Somerville and I know and heard the band practiced in Marshfield as well, 🙏🏻👍🏻❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻🎵🎶🎸🎸🎸
I grew up near where they lived in MA and met them both at a local music shop over the years. Whitford was super nice, humble, knew a ton about gear, and was clearly an even better player in the room than he lets on with Aerosmith. I didn't know it was him and he just started talking to me after hearing me fumble through some Beano era Clapton and Truth era Jeff Beck. The dude behind the counter then let me know while Brad snuck out back to have a cigarette (that was the main reason he'd hang out there, the staff wouldn't rat him out to his family). Joe Perry is...so rude and not impressive by himself in guitar. That being said, he did write some great riffs.
Gotta love this very under rated guitarist. He gave us some very good lead guitar solos in many Aerosmith songs that many people don't even know about. Cheers to Brad Whitford!
I've met Brad before, he's incredibly nice, humble, knows so much about gear, and he's even better at guitar than he lets on. I've also met Joe Perry, and could not in good faith say the same.
@@alicantoxenica1175 He was being really rude in the same store I met Brad. He was looking at an old Ampeg VT-22 in great condition and was throwing a fit over the fact it wasn't re-pronged. He offered the store $250 for it, they turned him down, and he walked out saying "Your loss dude". I ended up buying that Ampeg and using it for years. Paid $420 with a re-prong from the shop's tech. By far the nicest of them bunch was Joey Kramer. He used to shop at the Gap I worked at and would come in to buy really tight Gap t shirts. One day he grabbed a coffee at the Starbucks where my friend worked down the road. My friend was like "Dude you're Joey Kramer, this coffee is on me". Joey then asked if the kid played drums, and my buddy said he used to but his drums got stolen from a house party. He said Joey made a weird face and said "When do you got off work?" Well, he drove off in an expensive yellow sports car and came back when my friend was off, and was standing outside with a 60s ludwig kit in the back of a truck. He gave it to him and said "If you ever try and sell this I'll know" 🤣

@@taky2686 This was a different VT-22. I'm not sure about what they used in the studio, apparently their secret weapon was an old Gibson Stereo amp combo. I met them like, 15 years ago.
I loved Aerosmith growing up and it's strange how close they were to us in the mid 80s. They rented a rehearsal space a short walk from my grandparents' condo. At the time, I was about 8 years old and had no idea that the band whose music I loved was working just down the street while I was sitting in my grandfather's living room watching Tom & Jerry and eating Trix Cereal. Also, Brad's son Graham plays guitar in a really cool band called Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown. They're worth a listen!
I really hope these shows continues once he's back on the road somehow. Because this series has been really cool and who knows, could be Bonamassa's future career after he stops being as active musically as he is now.
@@M._Lou I think these are so good, they could literally be the next phase of his career if he were ever to retire from the road or at least be less active in touring.
One concert ( Louisville , Kentucky ) that I will never forget was Aerosmith on their Rocks tour with Nazareth when Hair of the Dog came out....HOLY SH!T !!! Not only was it the LOUDEST show I ever saw . It was like both bands were competing with each other and only the A game would do. Later I see that Dream On was recorded there ( they announced it would be ) for Live Bootleg !

As much as I love Brad’s playing, Joe Perry has saved my life so many times. I met him when I was 13 years old in Boston and he was so humble, kind, and patient (as I was a hot mess). It saddens me to see comments of people having not so great experiences meeting Joe but I can tell you that the 70s, early 80s, and 90s were not very good times for him if you know anything about him or have read his book.
Joe Perry plays with raw abandon and a more open, cleaner sorta tone and he definitely conjures up majestic peaks of absolute brilliance - among a lot of repetitive and derivative stuff. I do love Joe Perry’s playing, but I personally always preferred Brad’s tone and could hear that he was the more advanced player harmonically. The solo in Last Child is an example and also Back In The Saddle….and I think what Joe Perry did on the ride out of No More, No More is one of his conjurings of amazement.
Brad seems a lovely man. Although, i imagine being in a band with steven tyler for 50 years must be a tough call.. i've always loved the story about them changing their set list back in the big coke and smack days, putting their second encore as the new set opener , the story ( urban myth ?!) Goes that they played the song and left the stage , thanking the audience for coming and wishing them goodnight !!!? Probably not true , but i really hope it is !

Joe, when Brad said he could play a Strat, Tele or Les Paul into a JTM 45 and get the same sound without making any adjustments, you should have followed up and asked him how he does that.

It had been reported that the produce and label didn’t think perry was up to the task..5 solos..., that’s what I’ve read,...irregardless, those solos are so perfect and I don’t think joe or brad could have topped it.....good decision
Brad Whitford is best known for serving as the rhythm and co-lead guitarist for the hard rock band Aerosmith. Brad Whitford pre-show awesome guitar solo: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lmtg0UY2G1I.html
I always found it strange that Aerosmith the band is sold to the public as Joe Perry being "the" guitarist when in reality its Whitford. Not saying Perry is sub par, but Whitford is the guy.
@Art Gross Joe Perry plays lead on most but not all songs. He & Steven are the main songwriters. Joe & Brad work well together to make the Aerosmith sound.

Damn he is so old. Aerosmith must stop. Or soon whole show will be on tape like Kiss and Ozzy. They probably already using recorded tracks for last several years.
