True. I also pray the save the whale programs continue to be successful. It would be a total disgrace to humanity should they get hunted to extinction. Some summers ago, I read an article that stated the krill were appearing in staggering numbers in the Santa Barbara Channel, in southern California and the krill had attracted a significant number of humpback whales into the channel. So I booked a whale-watching tour on a catamaran sailboat, which sounded like more fun than a big diesel boat, and better for not annoying sea creatures. We did not see a single humpback whale that day - but were surrounded (literally) by blue whales, feeding on the krill. The sailboat idea turned out to be a winner - we had a big blue swim alongside us at a distance of less than 20 feet while we all pointed and stammered.

We went to Baja Sur six years ago when I was pregnant with my youngest. Went on a couple of whale watching trips. The first we saw hundreds of gray whales, and a mama and baby spy-hopped right next to our boat and I got to pat them each on the nose. 😍 Then the second tour we were surrounded by at least a hundred blue whales. You don’t want to get too close to those ones, though, they’ll capsize your boat. Such an amazing experience.

Nature will bounce back if humanity gives it a chance
@JohnJohn-qv4mg
@JohnJohn-qv4mg 9 лет назад
+David Good nature is still all around us as well as all around where no people are. But the world has been built giving certain animals we killed off a slight chance to return back to normal. Many animals have been brought back and are back in huge numbers, because like you said, we gave it a chance. But many of the animals we killed off have no place to live anymore except for small regions. The wolf in europe is a prime example. Outside of densely populated regions in a few countries like Russia, the few that have been released or roam into southern europe either disappear or starve due to a lack of food/wild animals for it to eat because we have covered most of the areas with communities of people. So for some aninmals you are right, but for many they have no chance of survival in the wild anymore.
