LIVE: Lawyer Reacts to Ben Chew & Camille Vasquez Beverly Hills Bar Association Interview 

This trial NEEDED cameras! NO ONE would believe what went on without our being able to see AH’s nonsense!

Ben Chew is the ultimate mentor. I love his humility and humour. You can see how much he’s helped nourish Camille’s career, because he believed in her and gave her opportunity to flourish. What an amazing example.

Ben Chew’s role in court seemed to be keeping Mr Depp grounded and calm. They all did a great job.

Like Andrea Burkhart said. Cameras in the court room are for transparency reasons. Public has the right and ability to evaluate the fairness of the process.

Ben Chew is truly humble and so genuinely kind! He reminds me so much of my dad-minus the famous lawyer aspect-and my dad is hands down the best man I've ever known. 💚 Coming from me, that's the biggest compliment I could ever give someone. Ms. Vasquez is a total rock star-without all the pride and vanity that usually accompanies being a total rock star. What a great team of attorneys!

Since this case involved celebrities I truly believe we heard and saw the truth being played out becausenof the cameras. If the cameras hadn't been there then the public would've been fed more lies. All credit to JD's legal team, totally refreshing- well done all.

Love Ben and Camilla so much, and I say yes to cameras in the court room. They are the most real and kind people ever!

I also absolutely ADORE and respect so much that neither of them are boastful or even remotely trying to insinuate they themselves are the best or the "key" element to the victory; rather, they sincerely boost up all of the others on the team and make sure we know that without any of the integral parts each person played, it wouldn't have worked out as well. It is also so very evident that they whole heartedly believe and know JD is innocent of the vile acts he was accused of. They are both emotionally invested in his innocence with seeing amd knowing every single peice of evidence. Ben almost got choked up again when describing what JD went through.

JD seems to often surround himself with great people. Ben and Camille not just brilliant professionals but genuinely lovely people.

TMZ.. Morgan Tremaine… put his butt on the line. Loved how he came back to Elaine about his 15 mins of fame. He explained the tip process to the publishing process and was a key point in the trial. TY for coming forward Morgan. Hope he’s doing ok. He got sick with COVID apparently.

No it actually changed my mind as I watch for myself. I did think Johnny was a monster, I knew nothing of AH but I sure do now and it shocked me that my mind could change like that but that was the benefit of watching myself. With your guidance it was such a great time and it was so thought provoking t the same time.

Love cameras in courtroom. Also, especially in this case, we’d never know the true story of this trial since the media painted a very different story.

I think the cameras in the courtroom are good because it helps keep everyone as honest as possible. I am a retired Civil Division Deputy Director from D.C., and very familiar with Civil cases and the courts in the DMV. This case had more drama and excitement than most.

The impact of JD's lead attorneys in making sure all members of the team would be respectful of the judge and the jury was evident. The respect of the team for the court system was very much appreciated especially in contrast to the AH "team". Well done!

The both of them are so likeable.. they never take credits without handing it over or sharing with the whole team.. And they are authentic, it all feels real, not fake.. It's really great that they won that case which at first seemed very unlikely because of the difficulty of defamation cases, the first ammendment, the fact that AH never mentioned his name and so on.. Since I'm not a lawyer and not even American your comments on this interview really help me a lot, Peter! As on your other vids..pks continue this great content!! 👍

I can't even say how much I appreciate Johnny and all of his legal team for showing me that justice can be had in court. As a female, DV survivor, I believed in Johnny. In the 80's I didn't get justice in court. DV shelters and help was just starting. In my 2nd court appearance for the Order of Protection, my ex-husband had an attorney and the judge wouldn't even let me get one. The case got sealed and I lost. I thank God for my attorney in the divorce. It may have taken 4yrs, but I never had to go to court or see my ex again. His attorney even called me to apologize for all that I went through. I think he felt guilty having taken him as a client.

I actually would have liked to have seen more of Ben Chew during this trial.

It is so good to hear Ban and Camille express the virtue with which they practice their craft. A good lesson for all of us as we travel through these crazy times.

I love how Ben, although her superior always puts his colleagues first. That he has that respect for them. How they both seem to love working with each other, very rare and important considering the time spent at work. Ben is an incredible mentor aswell as a great representation of the company. The trial being live for the world to see mainly stopped the media destorting the reality, which Depp had endured for 6 years.

The very best/most important thing about cameras in the courtroom is being able to NOT rely on the media for coverage. I couldn’t believe what the news reported! One even “reported” on Jason Momoa’s testimony!🤣🤣.

Thanks for watching with us. Camille and Ben are fantastic humans and professionals and so humble. If I had my time again these two make me want to study law. Watching via RU-vid and with actual legal commentators like you Peter, it was awesome and I hope they do more. I enjoyed learning the language, context, terms, I loved every minute of it, especially the comedy of the judge, Johnny, lawyers, witnesses it was the best!!

This trial was LIKE a movie. Nobody could ever write a better script and it contained everything. Seen other trials and this was no way near it. Chew and Vasquez was from another world in that courtroom. Seen the full days of some of them several times and still do.

I'm a huge fan of Ben and Camille as a real power team. This is the only second trial I have ever watched from beginning-to-end. The first was the Ahmaud Arbery case. Ms. Linda, the case prosecutor, she was a compelling master class to watch. And, conversely, the hubris of the three defense teams were mind boggling. The defense teams missed the root facts of the case and charged ahead in all the glory of their arrogance and assuredness...all the while not taking into their strategy of the actual judge presiding over the case. Superior Judge Timothy Walmsley was a first for me...a balanced, respectable, master class unto himself. In this case, Judge Penny, I respect immensely. She was intelligent, steady... along with Johnny's entire defense team, the people they worked with, and called to the stand. And, again, the hubris of Amber's defense team, the people they worked with, and who they called to the stand. I still don't understand how Elaine got so much so wrong after all her years of experience. Any insight about this?

This was the most fun live chat I’ve ever participated in. Whoever ends up making the movie of this case needs to listen to who we suggested for casting. And whoever suggested Jennifer Lawrence as Dr. Curry is spot on.

I felt it was the best Law and Order episode I ever saw. And now I hear the Law and Order are doing a similar storyline episode.

I tried watching the trial and was confused about how Johnny was responding. I stumbled onto to Spidey’s behavioral info that lead me to Legal Bytes where I began to understand what was happening. I saw you on LB and started following you. W/O the lawyer commentary I’m not sure I’d get as much out of the live feed. Thank you!

I worked in a law firm that was started in the 1930s and there was still an older legal secretary who carried her bosses coffee and tea on a tray. I was so happy to watch the firm grow from the old school, old boy type of firm to combining everyone's contributions. There were female partners, men and just overall diversity and was very happy being part of that firm. Didn't see their work in the court but saw all the hard work behind the scenes. Enjoyed it! Love watching and listening to all these experts as this is a very hard job!

Camera’s in the court room most definitely showed the true story!

Cameras in court are helpful in my opinion. Seeing Ambers facial expression when she would swing around to the jury was quite telling.

I agree with the importance of being yourself and letting the strengths of individual personalities shine. Every member of JD team did that beautifully. For instance, I loved seeing Camille go for the jugular during cross, I loved Ben Chews humbleness & professionalism, and I loved Dennisons laid back very chill demeanor. They were all so different, but equally impressive and compelling.

I love seeing the trial letting me know what all happened in what actually took place I'm glad it was televised he got to say his truth and the truth got out so I'm happy for him very much Happy

I feel like it was MOST important for this trial to be televised or recorded live because of the media. If we went by media, Johnny was slapped with a defamation fine and Amber was punished for standing up for herself. But because I watched it, I know Amber was punished for lying (or giving the perception of lying) and Johnny seemed honest and straightforward. I’ve learned from this case alone how often mainstream media lies.

For me it felt like Camille was like a crescendo, Dennison was like a long and slow painful death lol and Ben was just relatable and a darling 😜

No critique to Johnny's team. They all had so much class about them. Much critique to the other side. All the low blows they tried. I'm sure the Judge and the jury had much respect for Johnny's side. We all loved you Ben.

I think Peter is definitely a Type A….he is very passionate about justice, the Law, and fighting for his clients, He appears very intelligent, quick thinking and reasoning and a “ general good guy all around “.

I went somewhat recently for jury duty, but the case was plead out before anything happened. First time I was sorry not to have had a chance to serve, as I am now retired. This was prior to JD's trial, and since then I have really developed an interest in the process. Really enjoyed this interview and think the world of Ben and Camille. They are consumate professionals who are genuine and kind people. Love you and your content. ❤️

Got to see some of the live, and catching up on replay...This is so interesting and informative and having your added thought also makes it relevant.....Both Ben and Camile were a wonderful match for Johnny Depp....He relaxed and related to them and they believed him 💯 which is so important and because of that they put in 💯.....It will be a Trial to remember for sure ,with millions of people rooting for Johnny because we witnessed his continued abuse from Amber....Thankfully the Jury saw through her also...It does give you confidence in the Justice system....Thankyou and regards from Ireland 🇮🇪

I thought that the Chew/Vasquez team, made it so much easier on the jury to understand. I found Amber's side (especially Elaine), to be very convoluted and much more complicated that it needed to be! When other's say, AH was outlawyered, that explains it perfectly! I just feel like JD's side really wanted the truth to come out. That's how I took it! I have been on juries 3 other times, and I watched it as if I were on the jury! The jury did the exact right thing and I really put myself in their shoes! Camille and Ben did a great job!!!! I also, very much appreciate how they treated Johnny and how serious they took it all! He was in very good hands! :)

I watched the OJ trial as a child, but don't remember much in procedure, this trial definitely did a much better job of laying out how the law works in trial cases, once you insert RU-vid lawyers, it definitely laid out things that most people didn't know bout trial and how most aspects work.

As a former paralegal, I have to say that you are one of my three favorite lawtubers (along with Law & Lumber and Runkle). Found your channel through Pete's weekly analysis of the Holmes trial last year. I was rear-ended by a semi going at full speed while stopped at a red light in Fort Meade, FL, in early 2019. As best as could be determined, the driver was on his cell and never tried to stop. He took out five vehicles at the light, another crossing the intersection, and the tractor on his rig. No deaths or extremely serious injuries that required immediate hospitalization, thank God. Not being from FL, I had a terrible time finding an attorney in WV who would work a case in FL. I feel like my lawyer eventually got a pretty decent settlement from the semi's insurance, but I wish I had known about your firm at the time.

Oh hell yes, I learned so much about how trials happen. One thing that was most enlightening is that 90% of the work is done pre trial and post.

The grammar comment was funny. I paused the video, stopped myself to celebrate for a second. lol It is such a pet peeve of mine when professionals or websites have incorrect grammar. I see so many errors on advertisements etc... drives me bananas.

When Elaine was asked on a breakfast show whether she would have done anything differently - she avoided answering. Ben quite openly says that even in the position of winning - they would still learn and make changes next time. And there we have it.

Ben Chew is the best! The kind of lawyer you really want - calm, funny and caring.

In hindsight ( 2 months after the infamous verdict) even though, I knew absolutely nothing of A.H. ,I was hanging on to the facts that 2 people were putting their laundry out for viewers... Had this trial been in a news thread or radio station announcement, it would have been insignificant. Sorta like a weather bulletin.. Not sure if it was C-19 or the current administration in Washington D.C., ....hearing about Johnny Depp life was like reading a biography. Not what a journalist captures.. You have to love Ben Chew. He is not threatened by up and coming young attorneys, seems to want to help them, and give them credit for their hard work. The firm Chew is with gives young attorneys opportunities to shine and promote them, which is very impressive. Camille is a shining star, excellent and impressive, extremely intelligent and humble. Seeing the trial live and seeing the news on mainstream media about the trial made me come to the conclusion that there should be cameras in the courtroom.. so one can see and hear and and come to a conclusion for oneself.

All through the trial, I kept expecting Jack Nicholson to rush in, shouting "Truth? Truth? You can't handle the truth" :)))))))))) Mind you all through the Covid lockdowns, I kept wondering when Tom Cruise was going to 'Save the World'. I think LA Law got us hooked on Court Drama! I learnt a LOT more work went into a trial!! Thank You for your videos. x

Ben Chew is such a rare breed when it comes to being a manager, a boss or mentor. To have so much trust in less experienced and letting go of that control is to be admired. It wouldn’t be easy to do either but that’s what he’s there for if they ever need help.

As an example, I’ll watch each segment of AH's depo that has been coming out in phases by IA & Jaxx, and then follow up here afterward for your more in depth legal insight. 📌 Oh BTW, because of your rec, I watched Primal Fear on Tuesday and absolutely *loved* it. (I don’t know how in the world I wasn’t aware of its existence until your list came out, so thank you for that.) Although I kind of chuckled during some of the legally unrealistic courtroom scenes, those parts didn’t ruin it for me; I know it’s a Hollywood thing they do for added drama. And like you had mentioned ... what an ending! Wowza!

Watching the trial really did help me to see how great JD's lawyers worked together and were after the truth! The other side seemed to not flow and were as crooked as their client! Love the cameras in the court room. To see it first hand and not after being edited from the mainstream media, I enjoyed it. The hardest part would just be to decide what type of trails to watch or air.

I think for this type of case it was important to have the cameras. These guys are top notch. I don’t think all cases should be quite so public but yes for this type of defamation case sure. I have learned an enormous amount of terminology and procedure from the hours of videos provided by lawyers like you and legal analysts and other RU-vidrs. I can see why you all love what you do. You guys often get a bad rap but clearly you are not all jerks and I will probably give my lawyer friends a little more grace in the future. My husband was called in for jury duty this week and I was actually kinda envious. I’ll not complain if I get called in again.

They both are genuine decent people. I would watch more of their cases if that's available

I had always wanted to be a lawyer watching certain tv shows and movies are interesting to me however seeing cases that are transparent and having someone like you break it down with understandable explanations so interesting.
