During this video you will follow me as I fish a midweek open match at The Oaks Lakes in North Yorkshire on the venues Cedar lake
I Explain my approach to the match, rigs and bait choice aswell as how the match is progressing as the day goes on with regular updates
Oaks Lakes hold regular open matches on a Thursday and Saturday on the cedar lake where I filmed this video and on a Wednesday and Sunday on ash beech and sycamore lakes, aswell as being available for club match bookings throughout the year and day tickets for pleasure anglers daily.
Cedar lake is an 80 peg "snake" style lake predominantly stocked with F1s and carp alongside a host of other species including, Ide, Chub, Roach, Perch, Bream, Barbel and Rudd

enjoyed that video, love cedar but its always matched out Thursday to Sunday so I don't get to fish it often, getting beat by the guy who lives there will always happen. great video Adam. What pole do you use?

I popped to the oaks on monday as I plan returning to fishing after a 12 year break, it looks the best local fishery for disabled anglers, when in the shop they said it was fishery pellets only, but you mentioned fishing expanders on the hook, have I misunderstood and can you explain it so I understand please, and great video

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. The fishery pellets rule means that you must use the fisheries pellets to feed. You can use whatever you choose to on the hook though

nice work on fishing and the filming . One point, maybe, a closeup shot of each rig would work. I film most days on my own so appreciate the challenges. good luck!

I'll try that next time. Like you say it's hard by yiruaelf with moving the camera etc, especially during a match. Maybe it would be a good idea to get the camera a bit closer before the start though and do some shots of the rigs

Great video, it would be good to do a summer Cedar match video if you could please. Chris takes some beating on them lakes he fishes almost every match so knows the place inside out. Can I ask what elastic you were using. cheers Rich

Hi rich. Yes I'll definately do that in summer. Planning on doing live matches pretty regular among other videos so plenty to come Elastic is something I realised when editing I'd totally forgot to mention! I used a 9 dura slip.... Once it's really Cold and frosty and weights drop a bit ill probabaly change that for a 7 though

Great video Adam as usual and very informative as I intend to fish that venue next year. Could you tell me what setup you use for self filming please. Fancy having a go on my local fishery. Camera you use and mic etc. Cheers.

Brilliant video Adam, well done. Do you fish dead depth, or slightly over or under. Also what would indicate the need to alter the depth at all once you are set up?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Generally to start with I think close to dead depth with the heavier bulked type rigs so the type of rig I use for pellets. For lighter ones I tend to fish with a little bit of line on the bottom but maybe only an inch or so to start with If I'm missing bites then I'll try altering the depth slightly

Hi Carl. Glad you enjoyed it. I fed them by hand all day and initially when I started fishing it but was missing odd bites and foulhooked one so changed to just potting them in then which worked well

What depth of water do you fish in across cheers in advance

Stephen Turner, its a little bit peg dependant. I try to fish infront of the cover across which is normally about 3 foot. You can catch those stockies at the moment in shallower water than that but 3 foot infront of the cover is a nice starting place

Does bread dobbing in winter matches work?

Yea Ben definately. The water is probabaly still just a little bit coloured at the moment but after a few frosts when the water starts to clear a little bit then it's definately worth starting on bread. I think the new fish have helped keep some fish feeding for a bit longer though
