Every time I have watched a trial where a spouse or partner leaves voicemails to try to cover their tracks… their voicemails are like hey sweetie pie just want to say I miss you why aren’t you answering me etc etc lol. Always tries to make them look like an Angel. So no I don’t think her voicemails are to cover her tracks lol. Calling him a pervert. Lol. No. She meant that shit. And I’m sure she lives with guilt knowing she said all that shit while he was dying.

I’ve told my sons if they are ever arrested, to be respectful, obey commands, but under NO circumstances talk. Tell them that you want an attorney present. Period.

One time, a few years ago, a friend of mine got himself into some legal trouble and a few hours before he did whatever he did, I happened to be hanging out with him. Detectives showed up at my house without body cameras, without a recorder and without reading me my Miranda rights, and accused me of being a party to what my friend did. I told them I don't talk to police without a lawyer and immediately googled lawyers when they left. I absolutely had nothing to do with what my friend did, but these cops were acting like because I wanted a lawyer that I must have something to hide. One of them actually said to me, "the right to a lawyer thing is only applicable in court, we're just trying to have a conversation with you." It was absolutely appalling and baffling that these detectives could be THAT ignorant or absolutely dirty. I still think about that BS often. KR googling a lawyer makes her smart, not guilty. That really makes me mad that the CW would try to pull that. It'd be the same as them saying in their closing statement "Karen Read exercised her right to remain silent and didn't take the stand, therefore she MUST have something to hide!" Ugh, disgusting.

If they are saying she wanted a lawyer because she's guilty, then all those Alberts and the other Brian are all GUILTY because they all ran out and got lawyers!!

When I saw that photo of his arm without knowing how anyone was saying the injuries happened I thought, “ouch, somebody got in the middle of a dog fight”. Now I know about the case, I think I’m all caught up, when people are fighting dogs go crazy and if John and people in that house were fighting or even arguing the dog would have easily been triggered to start jumping and biting. Her voicemails were from a woman fed up with the contradictions. John is mad about the way she spoils the kids yet he uses her as a babysitter so he can go do whatever. It sounds to me like they have repeatedly argued about her being with the kids but here she is one more time - with the kids. She tells him the kids are alone in an attempt to get him to come home and watch the children himself. He's not answering. KR reads the situation as JO is hooking up with someone while she is watching the kids and that he says he doesn't want her doing. She is also trying to get him to respond because he didn't have transportation. She dropped him off. She is anticipating having to go and pick him up. She thinks that he is consciously ignoring her. There must be a history of this. I have empathy for KR. How many of us would want our angry voicemails played in court?

If my man didn't come home I would be leaving very loud and angry messages. That doesn't make someone a murderer.

I think the most important part of hearing those voicemails (for me), was how genuine they sound. Unless she's the best actress alive, she doesnt sound like she knows she will never get a hold of him on the phone. She sounds genuinely pissed, she sounds like she really wants to know where John is, who hes with and what he is doing. I dont believe these calls/voicemails were meant to be some kind of alibi for herself. If she killed John and was leaving these voicemails knowing that law enforcement would hear them... she wouldn't have wanted to sound so angry (a motive for the police to suspect her). If anything, you would leave voicemails pretending to be worried about the person you just killed. 🤨

I felt bad for KR today. I have left those exact voicemails before and if those were the last things I said before I knew my BF was deceased it would kill me to hear them. There is no way she knew he was dead. Those VM show emotion begging for attention

It’s sad that officer O’keefe death was not treated as a proper investigation, red solo cups, leaf blowers, no evidence bags or tape, inverted Sally port video, didn’t question certain people until this year & the list goes on. Sending the wrong person to prison is not Justice for officer o’keffe

I was an attorney for 43 years. Cases like Karen Read make me think it may be time to consider an alternative to the adversary system in criminal cases. It is quite clear that, all too often, prosecutors and defense counsel employ a win at all costs mentality which results in innocent people being unjustly convicted and guilty people walking free. It is also clear to me that the criminal justice system is damaged if not broken.

This prosecution team needs to be disbarred for this BS of trying to use someone lawyering up against them.

It annoys me that judge Bev is limiting Dr Russell’s testimony after allowing troopers, who aren’t even medical professionals, to give theories as if they were in the medical field!!!

If I was on this jury, I'd feel like Lally and this absurd gang of troopers were constantly insulting my intelligence as a 'normal' non-law-pro person. Disgusting

If I were a juror, I wouldn't care if I was the only one against all the others. I just don't know what happened to that man. There is no way I would put someone in prison with what the prosecution has presented.

Cops implying you must be guilty just because you got a lawyer is pretty standard. I had a family member who initially spoke with LE in good faith (because he knew he was innocent) and that ended up backfiring. Never again. Always have a lawyer present.

This is what it seems like to me. He didn’t come back out, she went home. Was pissed that she once again felt like he was using her to babysit while he was out partying. She obviously thinks he is doing something he’s not supposed to be and blowing up his phone.

I love how you called out how unethical it is to try to make a defendant culpable for calling an attorney. We must protect our rights. I think the DA should be admonished by the bar. Voting them out is much harder.

Not only does the time NOT work in any way lol if it happened from 12:24-12:30 Ryan nagle is outside. At 12:31-12:32 (when they're now saying it happened) jen mccabe is looking out at the car and texting john to "pull in behind me" and lastly we know anytime after that and she is already home. Karen read without a doubt in my mind, did not hit john. And it's really sad people can't have basic common sense and critical thinking and still deny this. Their data is flawed and simply does NOT work logically.

Sad knowing if KR didn’t have $$$ to hire good lawyers she’d likely be in prison. How many innocent people are in prison due to bad rep and crooked cops/ detectives just wanting to close cases?

Her head was on a completely different train, she thought he was up to no good and that kind of fear causes irrational thoughts. Her phone calls /messages are typical of a partner in that position and often stem from previous experiences

It’s noteworthy to point out, she sought out a DUI lawyer, indicating her focus and priorities at that particular moment. It’s evident that her interest lay in addressing issues related to driving under the influence, as opposed to seeking legal counsel for more serious criminal matters such as homicide!!!! I’m appalled by the Judge’s response. Unbelievable 😠

Edit to add: If they wanted consciousness of guilt for killing him, wouldn't she search for a Criminal Defense attorney not a DUI attorney? Best I can guess is she thought that people would question her being drunk while dropping him off and wanted to protect herself from a DUI, not from murder charges. EVERYONE should have a lawyer, ESPECIALLY innocent people. Police will "protect" the law, Lawyers will protect your rights. Protect Yourself. One big question that never comes up also is how was John planning on getting home after being at the Albert's? Was he going to call Karen for a ride, hitch one with someone else? No way he was gonna walk it back in that weather..... And those messages have nothing to do with consciousness of guilt, in fact they kind of moved the needle towards not guilty for me. She sounded like a woman who's boyfriend was ghosting her while she was looking after his kids. I'd be pissed too. If they have been having that argument about her spoiling the kids and him using her for babysitting and stuff, then he goes to a party alone and doesn't answer any of my calls/texts I'd be upset to all hell. She said stuff like "I'm sick of you using me... You're out sleeping with another woman while I'm here with your kids" [paraphrased obv], combine that with her thinking he is ignoring her on purpose and her sleeping on the couch waiting for him to arrive home instead of the bed which I assume they have shared before..... Their relationship might not have lasted much longer than the weekend, but none of that points me to she killed him and was trying to cover her tracks. Even if it was an accident with the car (which imho has NOT been proved yet, but the CW case isn't done so we'll see), I can't see how they get 2nd degree intentional out of all that.

Why if they were expecting him to come to the party and they knew he had arrived but supposedly hadn't come into the house wouldn't they have called him or text him to say hey where are you? I thought you were coming? That is suspicious to me.

Interesting how Everyone Else got rid of their phones yet Karen immediately handed her's to investigators. Hmmm...

The prosecutor should be sanctioned surely. She lied outright by saying Karen searched BEFORE speaking with law enforcement. I mean, the Trooper already lied by saying they’d “write” a warrant for her phone and vehicle - when they’d have to prove it before a judge. For the judge to not caution the lawyer then and there is just wrong.

He voicemails to me prove HER case. Everyone that’s been in a relationship has spoke or sent voicemails like this. They prove she was pissed thinking he was cheating. Yet this is suppose to prove she hit him? NOT.

A large conspiracy is NOT required for this to be a frame up. It only requires the people in the house to close ranks and stfu and a deliberately botched "investigation" by Proctor. After that, all it requires is any cop that might think something fishy is going on to turn a blind eye. This is mostly a large cop family and cops aren't terribly likely to snitch on other cops. It's got some notably weak evidence if the idea was to frame Read, but they likely thought there was zero chance the case would ever get more than a cursory glance.

If he walked over 200 feet and ascended 3 flights of stairs, her slamming her car in reverse at 24 MPH for 60 feet was 140 feet short of his body!

Man I wish there were more lawyers with your integrity.

For any logical person, these VMs don't help the CW. If she had intentionally killed him, she wouldn't have been leaving the messages. She was pissed because she assumed that he was cheating while she was playing babysitter.

Also, she was taking care of his kids, when he was off making out in the hotel lobby. I used to take care of my ex's daughter, while he'd be out or sleeping in, it can cause even more recentment. Esp for someone who doesn't have/ want kids, herself

I'm 70 and when I saw that first ME walk into court, I thought she looked like a cashier at a biker shop but by the time she finished talking I thought, wow, what a fit, well-rested, intelligent witness!

Thank god she got a lawyer.. no doubt any interview wouldn't have been recorded and been Proctors version !

Nobody is ever proud of those moments in life. I can wave my arm in the sky out of embarrassment of doing something similar to this. Spouses and relationships are frustrating especially when alcohol is involved. They had a very volatile relationship from the sounds of it and who can blame her for all things considered. In the end, I think these voicemails proved that she had no idea what happened to him. She’s at the house with kids, ensuring there is an adult there, she is being emotionally drained and agitated by her thoughts because of JO alleged track record of infidelity, and she wants to go home. If anything, the prosecutor just made the mountain higher for himself. We’ve all been in terrible relationships (most of us) where the other person brings out the worst version of ourselves.

As far as phone accuracy with steps: I was in a step challenge and tried to ride my horse five miles to cheat. My phone knew I wasn't taking steps! I then attached my phone to my dog and it worked! Just FYI.

So, she is at John’s at 12:36….please Jen and crew explain how she was outside and you watched her????

Those voice mails do not prove she killed him just that they were unhealthy And actually point to not guilty

I’ve left messages like that before when my husband made me suspicious. It’s been 25 years ago or so but I think every couple goes through times when they aren’t sure if they can trust the other one, especially when drinking.

I love your channel I’m trying to become a lawyer applying to law school and already started studying for the bar. I’m learning a lot and feeling inspired thanks to you. my favorite part in this video is “you just don’t understand how America works” we are afforded rights and freedoms that people take for granted but it’s pertinent to protect that. At some points it’s that simple of statement but also profound to understand and always remember.

Not only is it despicable to try and get that google search in, but to also deliberately lie while arguing it that she wasn't contacted by law enforcement yet??? This lawyer needs to be punished by the bar or someone.

Am I wrong or are people convicted of murder every day by their phone evidence but yet suddenly in this trial telling us that the phone data is not accurate well then I think there’s probably a lot of innocent people in jail

Why can't the basement of the Fairview house be inspected, torn apart looking for dna, if it may have been the scene of a crime, regardless of who owns it now? Why haven't we heard testimony by the coroner or the ME, wouldn't this clear it all up? Is "pervert" a Boston term for liar, player, cheater, a-hole, effer or any other name you would call a boyfriend in the heat of passion if you thought they were seeing someone else behind your back..... such a strange word choice. Everyone travels to the funeral of a fallen cop in NY, non of them personally know, but don"t bother to show up to John's service, their so called friend... So many questions...

An attorney gives advice on the law as an architect gives advice on building a house. If I build a house without the advice of an architect, I’m an actual idiot, the same applies to not hiring a lawyer.

If they would of searched home maybe they'd of seen a location that JO could of fell into to cause accidental death in a fight that had barely started. How weird is it that Higgins arrived in time frame JO would and left early. Idk, a drunken confrontation could of occurred and a dog jumping in on that would make sense. Could of been one punch with a dog attacking and JO could of easily fell against something to cause head injury. There is so many possible causes for reasonable doubt in this case, it blows my mind.

In order to make the 5am text true, the CW have to discredit the testimony of Trooper Paul and his key turn recreation.

The voice-mails were clear that she thought John was out with a girl. My theory was when Jen, on speaker, told Jon, "You know where the Albert's live...its right near Maddis house." It was a dig to Karen to intentionally get her upset because he dated Maddis' mom. I think Karen had that on her mind that night and thought he probably was over his exs house.

I always delete google searches. I hate having everything cluttered.

If the prosecution thought these voicemails would help their case, I'm afraid they probably did the opposite. The jury consists of 10 women (or mostly women), probably most, if not all, have left these types of desperate and hurtful voicemails at some point in our lives. I think the jury will empathize with Karen about that. It absolutely proves she had NO IDEA what happened to him!!

MA has a LOT of hills, everyone would be getting these stair readings all the time.

Better to LOOK guilty and hire a lawyer than to be PROVEN guilty by not hiring a lawyer. I am ashamed of my state’s public officials’ wrongdoings in this case.

Not to mention that Kerri Roberts & Jen McCabe both said at the beginning of the trial that they saw a “ crack” in the taillight. Another unconnected officer also described a crack in the taillight. But we are to believe that the whole thing was shattered on the lawn at 34 Fairview

I don't hear her threatening to do any deadly harm to him one time. I have told my boyfriend I hate you a few times over the last 10 years. It's called frustration. She is frustrated with him and she is scared because she can't find him all the alcohol on top of it all.

Who hasn't left their partner a angry voicemail at some point? Granted I have never left that level of a angry voicemail, nor amount of them It doesn't say she murdered him. And why would she leave these types of voicemails if she knew he wasn't alive to hear them, & there would no doubt be a investigation into his death? Makes no sense.

So... not gonna lie, about half way through watching/hearing KR's texts and vm's being played out (while watching live) I paused the livestream and said a little prayer to thank him for keeping my ex's alive.

If the service was bad, could it be that Jen McCabe's messages to JOK were delayed so actually she sent them around 12:20 to 12:30 but they were received later at 12:40, etc.? That doesn't explain the deleted missed calls to JOK's phone though... And clearly all these witnesses based their timeline on Jen's text times which is why the CW claimed 12:45 as their time of "murder 2". This is ALL based on Jen McCabe's claims and that's what is so fff'd up!

Who searches for a DUI attorney if they're worried about getting charged with murder? They have no business bringing someone hiring an attorney into this. Looking for an attorney right after she received a call from Proctor makes perfect sense to me. He was zeroed in on her from the beginning and I'm sure she picked up on that.

Karen googled a DUI lawyer after Proctor called her. That makes me believe Proctor may have hinted to her or said something that spooked her, especially since his mind was made up immediately.

I used to be in a abusive relationship, lots of head games, and my ex would flirt with other women in front of me. I said some pretty mean things but true. I was so angry and frustrated. I'm glad I am out of that relationship. 15 years single and loving it 😊

I don't understand how the Alberts didn't come out immediately to try to help John. Their friend!! Jen was in the house frantic telling them how he's out there, severely injured and FREEZING!

I hate this case. Im terrified for Karen. Prosecutor has proved nothing and lead detective cannot be trusted. Better find her not guilty.

As someone who lives in MA and not too far from the area this all happened in EVERYONE is talking about this case and EVERYONE is disgusted and horrified the state would bring a case like this. Not to mention horrified that this is how our State Troopers (Staties as we call them 😂) act. The only people I've heard defending the state or arguing Karen's guilt are fellow cops which is even more horrifying that they'd defend this behavior just because they take any criticism towards law enforcement, even when clearly justified like this, as a personal attack. That is the scariest part to me, if fellow cops will defend this just because they can't separate themselves from criticism then the right to a fair trial/unbiased investigation is in serious jeopardy.

Karen's vm's are relatable, imo. She was drinking & totally felt her was off cheating. When they were on vaca, he was MIA & she found him making out w/ another woman, that would be traumatic, imo. It was pretty recent too. Understandable that she was so triggered

I think they upgraded to 2nd degree because they were trying to bully Karen into taking a plea.

I'm also a software engineer, and previously owned and operated a robotics company. All of these "step counters" are small, super cheap accelerometers and all they're measuring and counting are very small impacts. Why the heck doesn't either side hire someone with technical expertise to talk about what that step data means? Any movement can be logged as a "step".

If I was a juror I’d make everyone make a giant timeline on a whiteboard lol. Especially if I was trying to prove my point to the other jurors

I know many people like Waze, but for a murder trial it was disturbing to me that they used Waze, because it is an app that is heavily influenced by every day people/drivers and the app updates in real time. If there is a back up on a highway, for instance, drivers can input the back up and Waze will take that info and map a shorter route for drivers to get around the back up. It may not make the drive shorter but it saves sitting for an hour in traffic. That's how Waze works. Google is more accurate because they have the camera cars (we have all seen the cars with 10 cameras on it driving around) and those cars mark accurate and measured time and distance for directions to locations. It doesn't account for traffic or slow downs etc. It is strictly how to get from point A to point B, sometimes offering a couple of different ways to go. I am surprised a court would allow the use of Waze because at any point in time, on any day of the week, directions and driving time change as people input traffic volume, road conditions, accidents etc. That could very well be why there are a few differences in time in some of the answers the guy gave (I can't remember his name). Waze helps a lot of drivers, but certainly doesn't belong in a courtroom where 3 minutes can make a big difference or be used to confuse a jury.

Someone said she was worried about him with Jen Mccabe, John & Jen had been texting all night... hmm, makes me wonder if Matt Mccabe felt that way too?... could possibly be a motive 🤔

I don’t think she is guilty, but those voicemails prove that she was PISSED at him, enough to leave his ‘kids’ at home by themselves.

The prosecution trying to get a google search for a DUI attorney into evidence as proof she was “guilty” is disgusting.
