Maybe they are investigating him for additional murder(s)? That could be a reason to keep the warrant sealed. In his hearing, he was told he cannot contact any of the people known to be involved in the quadruple murder victims lives. But if he is a suspect in some other unsolved murder, they may not want him to know they are connecting him to an additional crime or crimes.

My first thought about the knife is he could say he was considering buying one and touched some in a store. The cell pings concern me too. Moscow is a very small place. How accurate are the cell phone pings? My feeling is he did it, and probably wasn't alone. I also think there is a lot of stuff Idaho police want kept quiet. The town survives on the College and a look at just what goes on in the town would upset a lot of parents. I think the connection between BK and the victims will be a subject some of the victim's families, the university and hence the town will not want made public.

Enjoyed the discussion regarding the Sealed search warrant, With that Peter YOU HIT IT RIGHT ON THE HEAD THE WARRANT WAS SENT OVER THE 29TH & SIGNED THE 30TH. THAT SAID BECAUSE THE SEARCH WARRANT WAS IN WASHINGTON, THE ARREST WARRANT WAS IN PA THAT EARLY MORNING OF THE 30TH. So because the search warrant of the apartment was in a different state then where he was residing. Also line 1 of findings of fact, states that the charges “ARE NOT YET KNOWN! That is actually 1 MILLION percent correct, because they arrest warrant in the state of Idaho there Supreme Court states that they can not discuss the facts of charges until served & in hand 🤚 in the state of charges. Aka Idaho (referencing the PCA) Also that said “ HE WAS NOT AWARE OF THE CHARGES. All the language in this document 📃 just reassures me that it’s the exact same with the sealed arrest warrant in PA. I am confident hat this is all because it was 3 involved states were all doing one action in each different state at the same time.. I hope I explained it well enough 😉 (1)- PA Dec 30TH was detaining and obtained a arrest warrant at family home (2) WA-Dec-30TH search warrant of his apartment in WSU (3) ID- Dec 29th submitted Probable Cause Affidavit for arrest warrant to PA also 29h submitted PCA for the Search warrant that was signed off on the 30TH just hours after PA had him in custody WA went to serve the search warrant, Love you man!

Maybe they stumbled across evidence of other crimes when they searched his apartment. Who knows what kind of people he was associating with online.

The vans foot print was found with chemicals that only reveal prints left with bodily fluids in them (blood, sweat, etc) It wasn't found the first time around by police, which indicates it wasn't visible to the naked eye but it was left by someone who had bodily fluids on there shoes.

I think there is unexpected/surprising facts/information they are aware of and of course are going to try what they can to manage it. It helps the potential prosecution to stay ahead of the curve, or wave, as much as they can, when it comes to information and evidence in the case. The spotlight has become so bright and wide that they know everything will be under a microscope, but also it will ripple fast and far.

I just have a thought about having another person. I don’t think so because he is so egotistical and narcissistic that he wouldn’t want anyone else to take credit or rain on his parade. Also, he is a so called loner, who would he even get. In addition, he must have planned this for awhile and probably thought he could do this all alone Just a thought

Could the FBI go back further into KB purchases etc that could point to ways he trained or items he would buy to time himself and see how quickly he could do this to 4 ppl in 16-20 mins time?

I believe BK was a budding serial killer. I much as I can recall, serial killers kill people they have no connection to. I don’t think there will be any real connection here. Sadly he just chose them or perhaps the house, because of it’s location.

The criminal charges were filed in ID…this is from WA - sounds like they plan to file add’l charges for what happened in his apt…sounds like they think it will take 2 mos to forensically analyze the contents. I dont think its abt a 2nd person but a 2nd state lining up to convict on sep charges

I believe the shoe print showed traces of blood and is being used to recreate the timeline of the crime and help determine if there was a specific target intended

I think they want time to try and find the murder weapon and they may be looking into the sneaker print that was left at the scene. Investigators can't rush this or their findings.

I mentioned this on another channel, Peter, and felt all along that something is lacking in this case--obviously, a lot of things don't add up and I think there was more than one person involved in these murders. I know there are a lot of people in defense of DM and her being shocked and that might very well be, but personally, I don't buy that. We need ALL the facts. Way too sketchy, in my opinion! Plus the fact there is a lot more going on behind the scenes and the info is being kept confidential.

My question where there any lights on in house when murders took place it was never mentioned

As I had contributed on another channel. If this latent shoeprint was Kohberger's, and there's no reason to think otherwise due to how it was recovered from a multiple crime scene and understanding what was sampled from it's sole.. I only have one concern here. Xana's bedroom was located a short distance from Dylan's bedroom door. The shoeprint was said to be in proximity to her bedroom door. Why weren't there other prints identified from Xana's bedroom and along the hallway/living room area? any biological evidence such as blood and bodily fluids would be more abundant and apparent nearer the room where the murders occurred. Then dissipating as the killer traveled through the house to Dylan's bedroom and through the kitchen area. It's similar to walking through a puddle of water onto a dry surface. You can see the print of the sole rapidly dissipate and eventually disappear the further you travel from the puddle. I know, it's not the greatest of analogies but it works to visualize this.

Would they, or did they look for Murphy’s ( Kaylee’s dog) DNA in Bryan’s car, clothes or Apt.? I would think that would lock this to Bryan?

In my opinion, at that time, they didn't think he would wave expedition ,so didn't want this out til he came back to Idaho

Any excuses by Kohberger about knife sheath would need corroborating evidence.

I applaud the tight lip progress between WSU and Idaho to over protect any assumptions and present a cautious - what-if legal approach.

It would have taken a Rambo to do these hits so silently, does Bryan look or have tha character of a Rambo ? Ethan Capinwas 20 years old, physicly healthy, muscular, 5"11" 190 lbs., Bryan is not much taller It took courage to go in and do all this, not knowing what laid ahead. Did he actually know they were sleeping, did he gamble Ethan was was sleeping? He had to be courageous to do this henious crime. These were not four watermelons, two in each room. These were humans able to fight scream, and put up somekind of noise, and scene. Oh Bryan must be a secret agent trained to use knife and commit four silen t murders. He don't appear no Rambo, or secret agent hit man.

This was filed the day before he was arrested therefore they didn’t want his name to be on a public document for a search warrant before he was even arrested. That’s why there is a public safety and law enforcement safety risk. When they arrested him they wanted immediate access to his apartment, which is why it was filed first before his arrest.

It’s not a slam dunk case. Here are possible loopholes in the prosecution case that defense team could explore. 1. Touch dna can be transferred easily especially in a party house where strangers come and go. And DNA can last for a few days or weeks. Touch DNA that comes from surface skin cells is less credible than DNA from sources like blood or semen. So the defense must analyse the strength of this dna on the sheath. 2. Prosecutors have to prove that the wounds match the knife police deduced to be have been created by that particular type of knife. At the moment, they made that assumption because of the sheath, but we don’t know if the coroners have determined that the wound cuts are reflective of the the k bar blade. Also the murder weapon is not yet found. 3. Cell phone tower pings are not GPS. Cell tower pings can cover up to a wide radius. He lives and work in the vicinity so it’s not unusual for him to be travelling to and fro in that area for 24h food, convenience store, gas station, grocery shopping etc. 4. The crime scene was partially cleaned before it was halted by the judge to allow the defense team to go in to gather their own evidence. If the crime scene has been tampered too much before defense team could satisfactorily collect evidence, it could be a mistrial. 5. Other single source DNAs in the house can also weaken the prosecution case. The defence may need to show other single source DNAs found at the crime scene and analyse if they could belong to the murderer that is not BK. 6. BK’s apparent OCD-ness such as wearing surgical gloves could also be used in his advantage. The defense could argue that someone with such fastidious attention to cleanliness and details would not have left the sheath behind. 7. Change of his car plate can also be explained by the expiry of his old car plate end of Nov. 8. The defense can remind the jury that just because someone acts strange, or seems to give off a ‘creepy’ vibe is not ground enough for us to be bias even if we really believe that he is guilty. So the defense may remind the jury to check their unconscious bias (if any) and to only look at the strength of each evidence. 9. DM’s ability to identify BK can be challenged if she was not sober or was under influence of drugs. 10. When BK was arrested, he asked the police if anyone else was arrested which may or may not point to an accomplice or someone whom BK suspected could be the murderer instead. All the defence needs to do is to shed some level of doubt on all the ‘key’ evidences for the prosecution case to crack. I hope they really got the right guy but we have only heard one side of the evidence so far and not even all of it. During a defense like this, all the evidences collected, the prosecution, police and investigation processes will be on trial as well and must be able to stand up to close scrutiny.

The Washington courts may not want to interfere with a case pending in the Idaho courts. Thus, the hold on releasing the Washington search results prematurely.

My guess is it was sealed due to the fact they didn't have BK in custody yet and they still had to search his office and apartment. They wanted to rule out no one else was involved.

I also find it interesting that the search of Kohberger's apartment in Pullman had initiated this. I'm fairly confident they had recovered various potential items of evidence from that location. Especially his tower computer. He may have thought to himself that all pertinent information had been wiped from the harddrive. But that's never the case. Neither is his search queries online. He's been a busy little bee for sometime.

This is very similar to stance and claims made by the police in that Delphi case in attempting to seal the affidavit. Maybe the more simple explanation is just their desire for keeping it opaque so the the media echo system doesn’t jump all over whatever probable cause they claimed to have to get that search warrant signed in the first place.

Wait, wouldn’t the suspect immediately confess person’s name of additional murderer, if there was more than one murderer? Or are you saying that the suspect will claim the murder had to be done by other multiple murderers? This is horrible nonetheless.

Why would they state "Suspect Vehicle 1" in the PCA? Is there a second?

At that time they still had to keep the possibility open that there was another person involved. In the car or wherever. Remember they first said they were looking for an occupant or occupants of the car. Two months from 12/30 doesn't sound long. They executed 4 warrants that day and collected a ton of evidence that they knew would need to be processed (the PA house, the WA apt, the campus office, the vehicle).

if i remember i heard that someone said in a report that there was a treasure trove of evidence in his apartment so this may just be part of that on what they found at his place

DM's witness testimony is the definition of reasonable doubt. I hate to say it, but he doesn't have to prove his innocence. All he has to do is raise reasonable doubt. While his phone data is sketchy with him "turning it off," what it doesn't do is DEFINITELY place him at the scene of the crime. Again, "reasonable doubt."' The images of the car are not definitive either. The plates can't be read, the driver can't be identified, and there are no distinguishing marks visible to identify the vehicle "beyond a reasonable doubt." The prosecution better have their sh*t together for this one, because if he walks, someone's getting fired.

@LawyerYouKnow I am going to say yes, there is someone else. Why? Take a look at the Dartmouth College murders. I think it was in 2000 or 2001. Those two guys had one knife each. They were the exact same model knives. That could've very well ended with one charged.

The DNA is also a little sketchy. Genealogy was used to identify him. He was basically found by a process of elimination, not one of inclusion. From my understanding, the way BK was identified could also identify his 20th cousin, if they were in the area. A thorough explanation of the Genealogy process should be given to the jury. It's pretty complicated to me but I think it leaves room for reasonable doubt.

Eh, I’m not convinced. You have to remember, he’s a criminology phd student. He has contacts, friends, teachers, colleagues etc in that field. And like any professional field, people talk. It would have been very easy for someone to pick up the phone and say “hey, I heard through the grapevine they have a real solid suspect”. That would have been enough to tip him off, so I understand why they would keep it locked down. As for DM, imo people shouldn’t speculate about her. It’s one thing for a defense lawyer to defense lawyer her. It is not ok for us to do it. She’s a real person with real feelings and she is horribly traumatized. Online speculation will only make that worse. If you don’t care about her, you should care about the case and prosecution. If she shuts down due to harassment or worse it would harm the case. For both parties.
