I worked, as a Canadian, for almost four years in Saudi Arabia, 1978 to 1981. I broke all the rules that I was told by my ARAMCO superiors in dealing with the Saudi Muslims I worked with. Those co-workers accepted me as a real Christian and a brother. I often watched my fellow Muslim workers eat so-called Christians alive that were full of it and thought they were above the Saudis. I have a Quran that I received as a present while in Saudi Arabia and have read it and keep it with my Protestant and Catholic Bibles today. I also have Jewish background as well as Christian.

Though only a meager 'arm chair psychologist' with no real training, but having dealt with a troubled family member for several years, I learned (from real psychologists) that 'anger', the major source of antisemitism, racism and hate in general is a seconday emotion that usually derives from sadness, frustration or fear. The fear of change that comes from colliding with other cultural memes can be scary and I believe is the unreasoned response rather than embracing the diversity. People fail to remember how our American 'culture' originally came to be.

I'm 70 years old, and have always been registered as in independent voter. Neither republican nor democrat. I can't remember the last time I heard such a sane, grounded, and thorough discussion as this one. If Qasim Rashid had run for office in my state, he would have my vote. Kudos to him and to Anthony Davis, for his excellent interviewing skills. My great wish would be that this interview reaches far beyond the usual MeidasTouch crowd.

DeSantis announced that he was fining immigrants and businesses that hire immigrants. Construction companies and produce growers and packing companies complained immediately. Immigrants do construction work and produce work. immigrants began leaving Florida for neighboring states. Many construction sites had to be shut down. Produce companies had produce rotting. Hurricane repairs and cleanups are done by immigrants. DeSantis didn't think about the effects of his announcement.
