Thank you so much for this video. I've taught 5 of my granddaughters age's 7-14 to crochet over the last year and half. We've made many fun projects. Now it's time to teach them to use their new skills, to give back to the community. We discussed what they would like to do and they decided on making hat's for kids with cancer. In my research I found your video. I learned so much that I didn't realize could be important. Like the softness, with a brim or without. How a ribbon could scratch them. I'm going to have my granddaughters watch your video so they can understand these important tips. Thank you again.

Sara, I just watched this video and cried my eyes out. I can’t believe how insensitive I was to making a hat for my mom. I was just using any old yarn and of course she liked it but didn’t wear them that often. I now know why. Thank you so so much for your video. I am now on a mission to make my mom a SOFT chemo hat in every color. Thank you SO SO SO much.

Thank you for sharing with us!! The first "real" item that I designed/crocheted was for my [now] late husband... a rastafarian hat. When he lost his dreadlocks from the chemo/radiation, his hat was already soft from being well worn. He truly loved that hat. And now, years later, I am on my third round of cancer. #1: endometrial #2: GIST (gastro-intestinal stromal tumor/malignant) #3: tumors in my lung and on my spine. I choose to live with cancer... and until that day comes, I refuse to say that I'm dying from it. Crocheting is an integral part of my personal treatment program; I call it productive meditation. Another part of this treatment is making hats for others who are battling this disease. So again... thank you so much for sharing! You have some good pointers! 👍💜

Sara, you might mention too that if someone wants to make a Chemo hat for someone that doesn't have breast cancer, they can go online and research ribbons for whatever cancer that person has. Pink is, yes, breast cancer, but there are others. I lost my son, only 46, Jan 2021 to a brain tumor cancer. Brain tumor awareness is like gunmetal gray. Lung cancer is I believe purple. So that would help someone wanting to do this. I am a 2 time breast cancer survivor and I have not made any hats but have made others things. Several years ago while at my daughter's in Massachusetts, we did the Breast Cancer walk. I made scarves in the shape of the cancer ribbon, for my daughter, granddaughter and myself. There are just so many things to make for any type of cancer. Thanks for this video because you really gave a lot of helpful hints.
