I'm honestly proud of how Mamamoo improved their lip'syncing skills. Not by much, but it's still improvement.

Mamamoo has amazing vocal skills. Honestly they have itself said that they prefer live singing

The fact that Dreamcatcher's live vocals could still be heard over the loud backtrack just proves that they are pushing hard to get their voices out even with all their difficult choreography. I could clearly hear SuA and Handong over the backtrack

I don't think lipsyncing is bad especially if your choreography is dance heavy. At the same time, it's also amazing if they can sing their songs with raw and live vocals.

If people listened to everything Chan said, not just short clips or sentences, you'll know he wasn't hating on the video. He agreed with a lot of it, clarified and contextualised a lot of things. He disagreed with calling some of those lip sync, but he also knew why it could be considered that if their live vocals are not very audible under the pre rec track. No need to get up in the arms. It's because ppl are so sensitive about these things that more idols can't be open about it. We're so lucky to have Chan spill these backstage side things, it's a shame ppl don't actually hear what he's saying and take things out of context. The only thing is, as a Stay that watches pretty much all of their stages, the pre recorded ones or the ones where the backing track completely overpowers all of them are very few, you almost have to hand pick them. That much I can confidently say. There's a ton more Thunderous stages, their first one on the Kingdom week show thing is my least fav for obvious reasons Also congrats to the creator being featured on Chan's room. It's a feat in any case and they did put a lot of work into the vid so... (Changbin's flow is indeed insane 😉)

there r so many idols who clearly dont need autotune or lipsync on most of their stuff, but they cant decide whether or not its on it. taeyeon, wendy and mamamoo are prime examples of people who can slay live, so it sucks that they really dont have a choice when it comes to lipsyncing on music shows and award shows 😕

The only time skz mic is off is when they record a music video. Some producers ever suggested them to lipsync during a show, but they always refused the idea.

honestly with the way kpop is i don’t mind lip syncing during promotion but ONLY for the first few performances. for the first few performances you want to see the choreo and get the overall feel, especially with 4th gen but after that we should get proper vocals. they’re idols, it’s literally their job to sing. it’s like company’s actively work against letting their idols sings and it’s worse when you can see that the idol is really trying to be heard over the backtrack. it especially bugs me when it comes to SM cause like ??? you’re known for vocals, let your artists sing. it’s like they’re trying their absolute hardest to hide aespas vocals for literally no damn reason. and red velvet!?! i’m so mad

On a final note the autotune in Mamamaoo at the end seriously sounded so trash, it's scary to think people's ears are SO USED to that robotic noise they didn't even catch ho unnatural it sounded before posting it on youtube. Fans in the comments on Dingo didn't catch it either...

People need to realize that sometimes even the artist doesn’t sing live on stage, it doesn’t mean they are bad and everything, due to lot of circumstances like intense choreography or the shooting with different camera cut, they need to prerecord, and auto tune isn’t even just about correcting it adds effect on the vocals actually. ANYWAY IT’S ALWAYS GOOD TO EDUCATE YOURSELF 👍🏻😉

There's not much of a difference between SKZ' and Dreamcatcher's live and pre recorded vocals tho, with live there's just some breathing can be heard and some adlibs and that's all. Ugh my girls Dreamcatcher needs some recognition too, guys here, check them out.

The “It's Live” youtube channel kind of annoys me. They autotune every single performance but the channel name misleads ppl into thinking they're pure live vocals, especially with the live band in the back. I wish they didn't do that

Chen always sounds amazing, even with a sore throat, he sang without retreat: on the lower notes he sounded hoarse, but on the high notes he was very effective. He is the best vocalist in Exo for a reason.

I always wanted to say this: Stray Kids tries in almost every performance to sing at least over half of the lines live, but then there's the extremely loud backtrack over it, making me sooooo freaking angry at the music show that features their performance. They WANT to sing live, but why is it, that you can't just let their voices be without the heavy backtrack? Another thing I wanted to point out is that in the collaboration performances (recent one: 'Tiger' cover with Lee Know, Jungwoo, Moonbin etc.) the high notes that we can hear are *prerecorded*! I'm always getting so angry when there's some delusional fans praising their stable live singing, when it - frankly speaking - is lip-sinc. That can be because they are forced to lip-sinc or to have a heavy autotune or backtrack over their voices, but also just because they dance too hard and it would be too difficult to maintain a decent live while performing. All I said is not in the slightest bit because of hate, it's just stating facts. We all know that idols are capable of singing live or else they wouldn't have been able to debut, but what lots of fans want is PERFECTION. And sorry not sorry, this kind of *perfection* doesn't exist and leads to more and more performance without hearing our idols precious voices (and their human-like breathing, which I have NOTHING against lol)

I hope we can have more live vocals in kpop, its really beautiful especially if the idol loves singing

I'm glad that Mamamoo Solar had been casted in Musical Mata Hari as Female Lead a few months ago where she was able to performed raw vocals and gained more experiences & skills as a Music Artist...She's been praised for her prowess in that show even it's her first time doing Musical...After the Musical, Solar's latest performances showed so much improvement in her vocals...

as a long fan of Taeyeon, it actually made me so disappointed that SM (or the broadcasting company) made her lipped all her Weekend performances when she can do it perfect without that anyway. Also fought over someone who believed the performances was 100% live and start arguing how she's a great singer so she definitely sing live... hope people realize someone being a great singer can coexist with them also lipsyncing some stages (which is also understandable as long as it's not all the time)

Fans who either want to flex or are triggered by this video completely ruin the comment section. This video shows us how the industry is fooling us. Basically no one is a vocal king or queen in every performance and that's normal. Every idol lip sync, use autotune ect at some point.

He literally agreed with almost everything except my overly simplified term of autotuned because there are a million different things you can do with that software. *He literally said at **10:10** in his Vlive "Yep thats pre-recorded" and the rest are live or live with backtrack.* I made sure to list all the groups and songs this time so you guy's know what music/ albums to looks for ;) many of these are some of my favorite songs. I always get so many comments from people saying "X" doesn't lips sing or "X" doesn't know autotune and then use that as an excuse to hate other groups. These people completely missed the point. We're talking about Kpop as a whole, none of our faves are special snowflakes. Idols are all made on the same conveyer belt. These videos aren't about individual groups, they're about the industry pushing standards to an inhumane level that no real artists can achieve. The problem is when the audience begins to think a fake voice is a real voice.

I love ATEEZ’s approach and will always say that they sound the exact same live and recorded. They spoke about this in their WIRED interview. Also heard them in concert and it was immaculate, Jongho’s mic broke and the audience could still here him belting.

Dreamcatcher always make sure to give us live stages which I'm very happy about. I don't mind backtracks on live dancing stages as long as we can hear their voices over it! Even their sub vocalist have improved so much and gets to sing belting parts. Except for the very last two girls, Sua (the first girl) and Handong (the second girl) and Jiu (the third girl) are all sub vocalist!! Also their lead vocalist Yoohyeon could be a main vocalist easily. Tbh I don't understand why they didn't just do two main vocalist like Seventeen has because that would make more sense..

Wow that intro was the clearest explanation of all the trickery in Kpop music. Gosh I don't even hate autotune, I think it sounds really cool. But for the love of god can they stop calling it LIVE when it's not?!?! People say autotune can't fix a bad voice but it really can. It can completely change's your voice into something else. It can turned a strained high note into an angelic falsetto When I listen to BTS music these days I barely recognize their vocals they're autotuned is so strangely by bighit.

So, for all fans from any fandom, please dont blame the artist and compare or drag each group just to show off your fav group skill, all the shows have standard for the performances, and maybe that is one of the reason why they use autotune preset, just enjoy the show and performance, if you dont like it, just skip it

GIDLE wasn’t included in this video, but I respect how often they tend to sing live, even if it’s with a loud backtrack. I think it was Miyeon who said even if they aren’t always dancing in sync, you’ll always be able to hear them sing live. I mean, especially Soyeon lol. Not only a seasoned producer, rapper, and lyricist, but god damn does she have some strong vocals! Of course like other groups, GIDLE will lip synch and use prerecorded vocals, but the Oh My God and Hwaa eras specifically had some of my favorite live vocal moments. I think their vocals are definitely something they try to highlight since they’re dances tend to be more low energy compared to other groups, but they’re choreos are still fun and intricate! But it’s obvious they know their strengths are in their live performances, in producing their own music and knowing how to play around with their vocal colors. Don’t mind me as I shamelessly praise these talented women🥲 they’ve been on hiatus for more than a year (understandably so of course), but I’m absolutely ready for them to make an explosive comeback with even more amazing music and performances!

Kpop more to dancer than singer..

Not an EXO fan, im more on a lowkey bgs fan, but I can say EXO have the best set of vocals in all the bgs I have heard. Aside from Day6 who is a band, Exo have the lots of it. Baekhyun, DO, Xiumin, Chen and suho.

No because you can tell Hwasa doesn't know to lip sync to save her life. Key point Hwasa always opens her mouth widely to sing high notes and you can see in the lip sync performance she didn't even open her mouth properly for normal lyrics.

How can fans really expect idols to sing perfectly while dancing? Not even Broadway musical actors and actresses can sound that perfect. You can tell they're singing live because it doesn't sound as perfect as it does on the CD.

Dreamcatcher are for me the group that are the most true to the original. They are really good with voice control and create reverb effect manually 😭

Not sure how many people saw it but dingo actually uploaded the raw totally live version of mamamoo's medley originally (most likely an error on their part) before changing it to the autotuned version. This proves mamamoo did sing totally live (and slayed it esp wheein's adlibs in decalcomanie omgg) but the channel edits the clip post recording which is totally outside of mamamoo's control.

I agree with most but with aespa i do believe that it’s pre recorded rather than the official track. there are minor differences in how they approach the ‘im a savage’ Karina’s is more squeaked out and the savage is pronounced differently. But i do think they only have one pre recorded and that’s the only one they use. Same with Ningning’s note, the pre recorded version is sung way lighter whereas in the official track the approach is heavier

I think ateez are amazing, vocals and rappers probably one of the most amazing groups out there, incredible stage presence, expresions and very stable in live performances, amazing vocals and rap and all of them are super amazing dances.

I'm happy to finally watch Dreamcatcher on this kind of video. As a somnia, I know that many of us are always this proud of how good they sing whenever they perform, but it somehow makes me sad if my co-somnia said that this/that performance is live, where it is not totally like that. They maybe recorded it while dancing simply, then the record got processed or something to put into another round of performance while they still sing live(but sadly, it wouldn't be much of what we hear, or nothing at all). I'm not an audio engineer or something, but I can hear clearly the differences of sounds and I'm not delulu. But I would like to say, Dreamcatcher's talent and hardwork is what makes them more deserve for recognition when it comes to performances. I just can't wait for every waiting old and new fans to meet them on in person concert.

I honestly just dont understand why SM wont let us hear Aespa's vocals even during encores. Im pretty sure they're all good since SM really specializes in vocal training. Even in that clip Karina was nailing her high notes and she isn't even a vocalist but she's still so good. I'm convinced that we'll never hear them perform completely live lol because SM wants to be perfect.

as a MY sometimes i ask myself if they really do live stages ): after watching them singing live few times it's strating to bother me, mostly because i know the talent and power they hold but somehow SM decided to not let aespa sing completely live during promotions, honestly i don't know whether they are singing live or not, specially during 'dreams come true' other MY's keep saying that the stages are completely live but because they are so stable they claim other people think they are lip syncing since others can't believe how stable they are, at this point i don't know who to believe, i don't think i've seen a live stage from aespa so far, if there is then props to them for being incredibly stable and barely get out of breath, i love their voices and who they are but since their job is singing and performing i really hope SM will let them perform at least a live stage for once, they are good at singing so why are they so afraid to show how good they are? ):
