Crazy how he could miraculously hear what Erika said in Prosecution exhibit video 6. He continually claims his hearing isn’t good and he can’t hear when in the other courtroom but hears what was barely audible on an officers body recording. After listening again the judge commented he has miraculous hearing. He displays ignorance over and over again in his rants. So thankful this judge carefully addressed everything she did to shut down any appeals. I don’t know what he expected was going to happen. Did he really think he’d get off? What did he want to be called? He is the defendant even if not called by name. Every childish tantrum he showed was to illicit being held in contempt so that he could petition for a dismissal or use it for an appeal. His cowardly actions of accusing a juror of flipping him off and then accusing a juror of writing a letter on Reddit hoping for a dismissal prove how underhanded he is. Wearing a mask trying to hide his identity is another cowardly action. Attempting to discredit every witness, many of which were directly affected shows complete lack of moral character. The audacity of thinking he could defend himself speaks loudly how arrogant yet clueless he is. He said the combined experience of prosecution didn’t make him flinch one bit is gonna haunt him daily as he’s gonna be flinching day and night to some good ol’ boys in prison for the rest of his life. He never once has apologized for his actions in opening or closing statements. Every word was about him or how it affected him and supposably family that never showed up behind him in court. His own mother declined to attend. She’s even stated she won’t be present for sentencing. Highly likely his baby mamas are relieved he’ll no longer be able to invade and negatively effect their lives. Sad that his older children have to be associated with him. He’s never said he wishes he’s acted differently or regrets his actions. He even dares to say he didn’t know why it was God’s Will for this to happen. Utter sacrilege and insult to all the lives lost and affected.

Everyone else was prepared for trial, knowing what each individual was going to be doing. The Prosecutors and Judge Dorow, Court Officers were ready for trial. DB never CONSENTED to or given his PERMISSION for the court to do anything to him. He had a male Judge removed before the trial started through the attorneys he removed from his case. Females in full control of the entire process are extremely professional and sincere. DB kept saying that everyone testifying for the prosecution were coached. Everyone else was so patterned in the court, presenting EVIDENCE and speaking the truth. Of course he's NOT NOT NOT gonna know what the absolute truth when he hears and sees it.

Wow… his whole relationship with Erica is SO messed up. You know how he’s extremely disruptive and argumentative the entire trial and refuses to answer simple yes/no questions just for the sake of delaying and being difficult? But when it’s concerning him being able to see and question Erica in person, he suddenly becomes compliant and momentarily turns his rudeness off. He answers the judge’s questions with short and simple answers (esp when asked if he wants to be brought back to the courtroom to question Erica) and converses with the judge in an efficient, direct, civil/polite way. She even compliments him on his newfound good behavior! He’s just so obsessed with abusing and controlling her that he alters his entire behavior just so he can do just that. He does this several times throughout the trial whenever it had to do with seeing Erica in person. I feel like she stayed with him despite everything because she had very low self esteem, prob caused by Brooks constantly putting her down. I’m glad she was finally able to stand up for herself (on the stand) and leave him for good.

Little kids are wired to demand, demand, demand. They are wired to tantrum, in effect, since early in they cannot use words to have their needs met. He has learned that he can still do this if he surrounds himself with people who will either defer to it or who he can terrorize. And if they are not terrorized enough he beats them, shoots at them and runs them down in his car. But the judge and prosecution both noticed separately how he produced well written legal requests (well structured argument, with standard formal grammar, complex syntax, excellent penmanship and perfect punctuation. You can see this in his letter to his mother which reads exactly as if written by a pastor’s son - which is what he says he is.

Watch Brooks' body behaviors. He has a tendency to self-soothe almost constantly - rocking back and forth, or swaying when standing - both symptoms of mental distress, sometimes in the extreme. He was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder at a very young age - 11 years old. Bipolar is characterized by manic phases followed by depressive phases. Watch his behavior. He becomes manic and can't stop talking or he sits slumped in his chair and rocks or sways. I wonder if he's being medicated for his disorder while in jail. His mother claims he doesn't remember the event. She also claims that as a child he was medicated but was unable to afford the array of needed meds as an adult so went without them. He has a long and complex history of acting out. Many run-ins with law enforcement - violence against women. He seems to be quite intelligent, but aggressively anti-social. I think he had an argument with Erica, and smacked her a few times in the face, after which Corey called the cops. He was out on bond and didn't want to be put back in jail so he ran. When he saw the parade he was wild with anger and as soon as he saw all those vulnerable people found what he saw, in the moment, as a way to soothe his anger. I think the killings were a highly irrational response to his fight with Erica, and absolutely intentional. Guy is deeply sick.

I grew up in a time and an area where body language like he displays in the first 25 minutes was absolutely bog-standard for many adolescent and younger men, and the kind of middle-aged men who routinely got in stupid bar fights &/or beat their wives and kids. The side to side (and some of the back and forth) rocking, pacing, arm-shrugging, the knee bouncing, clapping on stressed syllables, head thrusting forward- it is not manic, it is macho display, a deliberate display pantomime of exasperation with implicit threat. He holds it at a level that he knows he dare not exceed in court. Look how he escalated in blacking his girlfriend’s eye *in a blitz attack without warning*, and how he worked up through this stuff to lay hands on another female who was a complete stranger to him, even with Kori’s male friend present. This is where he would be and what he would be doing right now except that he would simply end up in even more restraints. It is where he was when he leaned out the car window at the gas station and berated the other driver - who declined to get wound up and shrugged it off. I can assure you this man is PERFECTLY in control of his responses. If he actually were manic he would by now have punched the screen, tossed his document boxes around or started kicking and yanking his own foot chain.
@eh1702
@eh1702 Год назад
His genuine self-soothing is actually really normal. 1. Beard-smoothing - he forgets he doesn’t have a long beard any more and sometimes does that finger-&-thumb sweep outward from the philtrum, down the corners of the mouth to the neck. Loads of bearded men do this. 2. Paper shuffling, patting & rearranging and book-opening & closing. 3. He bows his head, elbows in the table and hides behind folded or clasped hands.
@eh1702
@eh1702 Год назад
Oh, and watch how his body language rapidly transforms for the jury. He stands up, folds his hands and confines himself to signalling much milder frustration by pacing, such as he can on a tether. And as the prosecutor begins his address, Brooks realizes he has to stop it now and he tapers it off so that it doesn’t look too obvious. He is all about display and theatrics. It has literally been his livelihood, his profession, his way of keeping control over the women he leeched off all his life.

It was very weird how he took exception to Kori identifying his SUV in the video with “That’s him!” He seemed to be genuinely saying that she was not allowed to know it was his car - as she sat there watching the video. This was what baffled Kori, she thought he was saying that as she stood in the street, how could she know it was his SUV? (She did also know this because of course when Erika called to say he was now stalking her in his car, Kori would ask what his vehicle was.) But in fact what Brooks seemed to object to was her saying in court, “That’s him!” as though she wasn’t supposed to know NOW who it was. He does seem a bit ADD, so possibly he just forgot that she said it in the present and his recall was that she claimed she had said it at the time. Which Kori didn’t realise he was thinking. He didn’t miss a trick in trying to confuse her on purpose, either. But the creepiest, “most sociopathic”, entitled thing about his grilling of Kori is that HE asked for such a moment to be rerun. On this video watched by the jury, he had just swerved his car at Erika: then he *at least* shoves Kori so she staggers back - and he asks for a repeat of that moment, presumably to prove that she was exaggerating. Thus demonstrating to the court how he *still* assumes he had a right to lay hands on a stranger who was trying to protect his first near-miss of the day. He doesn’t even think to try to justify it. It’s just “look, I only shoved you and you didn’t even fall down! Replaying the aggression and re-enacting the sense of entitlement that let him assault and kill more strangers a few minutes later. It goes way beyond being an unrepentant brute - it underlines how much of a danger he is going forward.

But put that aside she did the right thing and gave strong testimony. None of us are perfect of course. But some of us are just a waste of skin and space, i.e. Darrell Brooks. Why hasn't the judge ever tell Brooks that she doesn't give HIM consent to interrupt her and the court for starters.... Lol I wish she could say everything she likely wishes she could say and call him out on the fact that it's not her duty to teach him law or hold his hand in this. A public servant as he puts it doesn't mean she is the servant of anyone to use and abuse how they choose. And he also had the wrong idea of her duty. But what's the most wild and shameless is that he claims to be a sovereign citizen and exempt from US law but then has no problem cherry picking whichever line, amendment, case, or whatever else he heard out of context , and then believe he is entitled to have full , unrestricted protection under said right. So he can take lives, be exempt from prosecution, but then use the 1st amendment to tell the jurors "what their duties and obligations are" despite having zero idea what those are and not being qualified remotely to do so. In heating his verdict, u can clearly see and hear how confident he was that the jury returned a not guilty verdict .. so much so that he spoke before the verdict was read and demanded to be unshackled ...what's his deal and how could be under the same room but entirely different universe? Hopefully the judge and prosecutor go out and party this weekend. They need to unwind.
