Seabiscuit was small but mighty. One of the greatest race horses in my opinion. This little one just might be a bit premature but will someday be one of the most gorgeous. Love how he’s already comfortable with humans. Well done!
My all time favorite movie. Always quoting lines from it. Who knows what genes will be expressed in any creature and the lovely surprises to be seen. He is lovely and will be fun to watch grow.
I swear people! If you don’t agree with the way this family handles their horses, go find a different channel where you agree with them or keep your opinions to yourself. All of Homestead’s horses are happy and healthy. They clearly know what they are doing and they certainly love their horses more than you do!
They all just need to get over it ! This baby has the great fortune to be born at this family's farm because I have seen how careful these folks are with their horses!!! But he is just a 🥰🥰 cutie ❣️
Who gave you or someone else a bad comment on homestead??? I've missed a lot but I've never seen another family care for their horses and other animals
So cute. While you were talking about his colour and eye colour, I heard Johnny Cash singing, "Tennessee Stud" "The Tennessee Stud was long and lean, the colour of the sun, and his eyes were green. He had the nerve and he had the blood, and there never was a horse like the Tennessee Stud."
@@CalebAchsah I grew up listening to Johnny Cash, my father's favourite artist. I would play guitar, to accompany my dad while he sang this and many other JC songs. His voice went just as low. God, I miss my dad.
He's going to be as beautiful as Bob. I love it when JR stands firms for his beliefs, backs it up with facts, and does it with acceptance of other people's beliefs, saying they can do it their way. He stands like a giraffe.
The Bedouin handle their horses from day one. They had the prized ones in their tents for Pete's sake! Handling them early instead of waiting till they are stronger and wilder, is the way to go. Congrats! He's beautiful!
To each his own, but I agree with them; if you want a real friend in your animal start the friendship EARLY, kittens, puppies, foals learn that people are nice Geese actually imprint on the first thing they see ; or so I've been told.
They were prey animals for thousands and thousands of years. Their instict is to be on alert and ready to run if necessary. So an independent spirit is inbred and for survival. Horses are wonderful animals.
I agree I never really got bonded with my star eclipse he mad me his in his own way. Just like his brother did to my mom he kicked me across my legs. Unfortunately I didn’t get to be there for the birth. They wouldn’t call said I was to young. But he was mine and I should have been there to rub his nose so he would know me and my smell. Then I lost him a yr later. But I definitely agree God bless
Tom and I are watchin the morning video again. Mom and baby are beautiful!! Actually baby is so stinckin cute. I just want to pick him up and put him in my lap!! But Mama would have to say it's ok. She is such a good Mama!!!
He is beautiful. He looks pretty fragile, but I'm sure he will fill out beautifully. Congratulations on the first foal of the year. If ever the term studmuffin fit a baby....❤
Congratulations to everyone! What a cutie! Look at those ears! What a wealth of knowledge I could listen to you both for hours. Gonna watch now, congrats!
Imprinting a foal is the best thing you can ever do. I have had two foals - one imprinted and the other was left alone. The imprinted foal was calmer, gentler and MUCH more cooperative than the foal that was left alone for its first year of life. The foal not imprinted was always hard to catch, always elusive and totally unpredictable. Even after they were 20+ years old the imprinted horse was the absolute best horse of the two. Hands down. People who don’t imprint are missing out on a beautiful bonding with your horse. Just saying.
Scr*w the nay' sayers JR and Homestead family!! I grew up with horses and everything you do is how we did it naturally back in the day AND Im almost 70 years old 😂 keep providing us the true supporting viewers the miracles of the farm ❤ PS Congratulations🎉
My colt that l had when his mother need a break she would bring him to me to watch and l had him 19yrs he was my best friend l lost himto brain cancer so l agree the bonding with the baby along with mom is good from Pennsylvania usa
OMG! The first 2024 baby has arrived! He is abdolutely adorable, cutie and a sweetie pie. He is tiny. Nature's most beautiful miracle! Mama is also beautiful and keeping a close eye on her baby. Most important she trusts you. You know what's best for mama and baby. Congrats to you people. Lots of love❤
I like the name RUM TODDY and call him TODD! He’s so tiny, but I’m sure he will come along fine. I’m loving all his puppy-dog tail wagging! He’s bonded to the family already. Cutest lil peanut! Bless him!
A foal in capture is much better off like this, learning from momma that humans are caretakers and a source of safety. As you say, it will make life so much easier for him down the line. He's such a sweet, pretty, little thing and momma clearly loves him. Congratulations on the first baby of the season.
I breed my Morgan mare twice, the first foal I did not imprint. Very difficult to build trust and was not easy to handle even at two years. However, the second foal I imprinted the trust was unbelievable even when training to ride, never had a problem with bridle or saddle and riding. This beautiful mare would always be at the gate waiting for me or Winnie when I came in the barn. Thank you Midnight for ten beautiful years , you are missed
AND I’ll take a brand new healthy baby foal and a herd of gorgeous horses on a beautiful farm with a river ANY day over an overpopulated and overpriced house on the beach that will get hit with a hurricane. They have a life worth more than money !!! Thanks for sharing it with us !!!!!! ❤️🙏💯🐴👍😊
He's beautiful and sweet. Thank God he got strong enough to nurse. He's a pretty busy guy❤ Thank you for taking such good care of him and his Mama. Connection is important. ❤
He’s a wee lad but he’s got it all!! Looks, demeaned, gentle soul and pretty interested in his world. Mama is great too she’s so caring and patient. She knows because he’s a little on the tiny side she makes allowances for him. Y’all must be thrilled. I’m happy for Jr. I know he wanted a boy💕😊🙏❤️
I just love the way he keeps flicking his tail. He seems to be saying, " look at me, ... I made it, ... I'm free and loving it"! What about calling him, ... "Homestead Horsemanship Freedom's Song" ? Congratulations on your beautiful boy! Good job mama! ❤❤❤ - ACD
Regarding the handling.....I loved your description!! Those who can't need to leave the horses alone, those that know what they are doing.......you can have a backyard foal (spoiled rotten, walks over you, nips, head butts). or a nice, well adjusted foal, whose feet you can handle, halter and leads..He has the star that shows white/gold color. He's a tiny warrior.
He’s beautiful! I can tell that he’s less mature mentally than if he was born later in gestation. Which makes sense because he isn’t as old and developed mentally as he would have been had he been born on the later side of gestation. He’ll catch up. You guys did a fantastic job of getting him going!
The suggestions that seem reasonable are: use straw, express milk from mare if foal hasn’t nursed within two hours and use iodine to sanitize and test mare during next pregnancy to see if the pregnancy can be lengthened. Yes, one can always examine one’s beliefs and see if there MIGHT be ways to improve.
Ahh, so he is about 68 lbs. You gave it away. He is so beautiful. Take no notice of those who think you should leave foals alone. The quicker they are desensitised to humans, the calmer they are. They won't be afraid to approach you in the paddocks either. So peeps but out.
What a beauty,,, give him all the love he desires, I am sure you all will, he his so purdy,,, Jr, what you guys to horses can never hurt them, why people have to make unnecessary comments, we will never figure them out,,, let them walk in your shoes then comment, God bless and Gods speed on this treasure
He is just the sweetest thing I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing the birth . I was holding my breath that he would be able to stand and nurse you.. He finally made it
Hi Rosa family, I just knew she was going to have her foal during the night. The way she kept seeking comfort and companionship from Bekah and Emori. So glad the little colt is doing well. And mama is also doing well. He sure is tiny but with his mama eating spring grass I'll bet her milk will be real rich and he'll fill out real quick. He is going to be one handsome little stud.❤❤❤❤❤❤ Hope you had a wonderful time at Mary's award ceremony. Video??🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Whuzza! And it is a Palomino! Congratulations! I don't think that I have ever seen a tinier foal. (Not that I have seen too many, but still.) I am really looking foward to see how he will be doing. 😊
I've had numerous mares bred and imprinted on each foal & colt born. Each time these babies grew up to be sweet, loving to humans and never forget who their Momma's are or where to get their meals. The Momma mares are very sweet and allow for their babies to be around humans and never act aggressive to babies or us. You continue as you think is best! He's a beauty!
Creme palomino is so cute, precious, a special miracle, Easter surprise. You all did good with his delivery and gave him the needed natural support as needed. Great interaction between the mare, foal, and you. Wonderful to bond with and interact with, lots of love and trust. You are part of their herd.
