He promptly gave up a 1st inning 3-run homer to Yuli Gurriel. 2021-2022 Off-Season: He refuses to include Oswald Peraza and Anthony Volpe (who each have a career OPS under .700) in a trade package for Matt Olson, who hit 88 home runs in 2022 and 2023 combined. Yankees had a lifeless offense all season outside of Aaron Judge and got humiliated in the ALCS. 2022 Deadline: Refuses to trade Volpe for Luis Castillo, instead trades for an injured Frankie Montas. And here we are in 2024, not a single one of those prospects he held on to turned into a great hitter.

Given how effective Matt Blake made Tonkin! I’m willing to wait to judge any arm they bring in. Give Blake a handful of new toys and let’s see how they play. Yanks need a variety of arm slots/looks and pitches. I like that they added a guy with a splitter/hard curve cause no one else had that. Our pen was a bunch of change up & sinker pitchers

I wanted more obviously but I’m not freaking out like many are. They added bullpen arms, bullpen arms are coming off the IL, and they’ll put a SP or two in the pen. There’s only so many spots in the pen to fill.

In the last…7 years, what has Cash accomplished? He is the GM of the PREMIER team in all of sports. Biggest city. Biggest revenues and marketing. What has he done, via trade? Zero! All free agents. Thats it. He has known the yankees gaps, and yet, done nothing, via trade. (Soto, cole, etc, free agents!) The Judge window is now closing. He is 32. He is a generational talent. This tells me, Cash has LONG SINCE overstayed his welcome. Clearly, clearly, GMs do NOT wish to work with him. No GM wants to work with him. For a DECADE. Billy Bean Never has that problem. Cash should have been gone by 2014. Boone is Girardi, 2.0. He should have been gone after 2022, when he had several years to prove himself, and our progress year to year has been zero. Both should have been fired years ago. The NYY needs are obvious: 1B (Rice is a rookie!) 2b (Gleybor should have been gone when Sanchez was jettisoned), 3b (obvious) LF (obvious) 2, maybe 3 SPs (cortez not rosterable now), Entire bullpen. And we just add a late inning reliever? Cash AND Boone need to go. Five years ago!
