In an extraordinary journey from the sandlots to the pinnacle of Major League Baseball glory, Pete Rose's legendary career is a testament to the indomitable spirit of one man's quest to become the "Hit King." But behind every legend lies an untold story that shaped the icon we admire today-none more influential than the lessons learned from his father.

Well, no he didn't. A local Cinnannti Reporter found some things out about his career including accusations that he may have corked his bat while playing. He would never allow anyone to touch or look at his bats. Beyond that, he did gamble on the game as the player and Manager.

Pete Rose, is 82 years old. Think about that, his memory, his stamina, his fight and his humor. I am so mad that he is not in the MLBHOF... He is deserving of it. People are gambling legally now, MLB is making millions on Draftking ads and yet Rose is banned. Unbelievable, what a crime.

@mr.intensity2685 I'm 55 Mr Nosey. You are correct it's because of the taxes . He paid back over 361,000 thousand dollars in tax and restitution. However he didn't set out to do anything illegal. That happened because of poor business management, hired help. Strangely enough that issue surfaced because of the Dowd report. @MountainFisher
@MountainFisher 3 месяца назад
Bench isn't a hater, he told it like it was. If Rose had come clean, went to rehab he only would have been suspended. Rose never would have went to prison and the FBI made a deal with the organized crime bookies to forgive Rose's hundreds of thousands in debt. Bench also knew about Rose bringing underage girls to Spring Training camp and making the other players uncomfortable as Hell with them hanging around the clubhouse. Rose didn't care that possibly one of these 13 to 17 year old girls could falsely accuse a player. Imagine if some 14 year old girl accused Johnny Bench of having an affair, he'd never be able to live it down, just the accusation was enough back then to ruin a player. They stayed away from the girls and none of the Reds was accused of statutory rape except Rose according to John Dowd who was the investigator who made the case against Rose. Rose got out of it because Ohio's age of consent is 16, but not Florida and she claimed their relationship started way before she turned 16. Dowd didn't put the statutory rape charges in his report as they weren't relevant. Just like he didn't put Rose's betting against the Reds by betting ON them every night except when he didn't, remember he owed some unsavory characters up to half a million dollars by all estimates. Don't think they did not notice when Rose didn't place bet ON the Reds. It was a clear sign to bet large against the Reds. It is in the Cincinnati newspaper article I'm going to link. It is a long read, but also talks about Rose fronting money for drugs. If you want to read about the underage girls just Google Pete Rose and underage girls, John Dowd. You'll get a few thousand hits. I said nothing that isn't documented. Pete Rose is a pedophile scumbag and still lies, he's already contradicted shit he wrote in his so called tell-all book. www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2015/03/21/rose-investigator-pete-belong-game/25112355/

When Pete came up with the Reds, Frank Robinson was vastly superior. Johnny Bench and Joe Morgan were both better than Pete and their teammates will tell you that. When Pete went to Philly, Jack Schmidt was the best player on the field. In Montreal, Tim Raines and Andre Dawson were better. Mr. Rose should be in the Hall of Fame. Good man, good person and a fantastic baseball player. The goodie two shoes of Baseball is punishing a man because he committed a No-No and yet if truth be known there are a ton of men who committed No-No's but some are in the HOF. It's an injustice by all involved and they know it....THEY KNOW IT. It's done on purpose Folks and again, they KNOW IT.

Google "Outside the Lines Pete Rose." That "good man" is still lying to everyone about betting as a player.

He cussed out my 12 year old friend back in the 80’s for wanting a autograph. He’s a dick!

Pete's honesty is so refreshing. We are all battling demons, this interview made me realize some of my own.

Enough time has passed. Allow Pete Rose to be put in the hall of fame.

@@ngc-fo5te At least Pete Rose was not a druggy and wife beater like Daryl Strawberry was.

@rondellschuyler7074 Irrelevant. This is about Rose the gambler and tax cheat. Though the tax cheat part is irrelevant for the Hall of Fame but the gambling isn't irrelevant.

@rondellschuyler7074 No there isn't in regard to the rules of baseball. Most people I have heard on this want him nowhere near the hall of fame. He certainly doesn't deserve to be.

I was too young to really understand the Pete Rose saga when it went down, but really enjoyed this interview. He always seemed like a really tough guy to me, which he is, but also a good guy I think.

Better do a little more research. He’s an absolute horrible human. Look up what he did to underage girls during his playing career never Convicted because the statute of limitations ran out before these girls had the courage to speak up. He’s also a convicted felon serving time for federal tax fraud, money laundering and wire fraud.

Pete is already in the Hall of Fame of public opinion. He has paid a very heavy price, and it is far past time for the Commissioner to show some compassion, and put Pete Rose in the HOF.

The Hall is a private entity. The Hall can induct Rose anytime they’d like. The MLB commissioner has ZERO to do with the Hall of Fame. Tell us you don’t understand that without actually telling us! LOL
