Is this where the phrase Spursy came from I wonder? The euphoria of beating a very good Liverpool side away to get battered by an awful Everton team was very tough to take and still haunts me to this day
Spursy is about 7 or 8 years old made up by some little bellend with a RU-vid channel as far as my memory serves me. We have made a habit of falling at the semi final stage over the years which has got slightly out of hand but don’t forget it was Man City fans who believed they had the monopoly on bad luck, telling anyone who would listen for years that “only citeh could throw away a two goal lead” “only city could get beat with a last minute winner” and so on.
I remember my dad and uncle talking abt this match. They said the whole of Anfield stood up, and applauded both teams at the end. They’d never seen that before.
I don't think I appreciated John Motson as much as I should have. When you listen to most modern commentators you realise they aren't in the same league. Motson didn't used to over do it or try to be too clever, he just described what he saw. Exactly what a commentator should do
Wow! The field at Anfield’s goal areas is horrible. RIP Justin Edinburgh. Rob Jones was one of my favorite players. What a shame injuries cut his career both domestically and internationally. Can we just admire the greatness of Ian Rush.
