Honestly, it is perhaps THE accent/dialect that is most difficult for non-brits to understand other than Glaswegian. (Okay, maybe Belfast, if it's very broad can join in.) I'm an American expat. Lived in Britain for more than ten years. I'm fairly good with understanding dialects, compared to most of us from North America. (You know the type of American I am thinking of. Every Brit does.) Once I understood Scouse, however, I really learned to like the sound of it. (Brummie, by contrast .... Ugh, easy to understand but so ugly.)
I’m pretty good with accent impressions but man even though much of my family came from Liverpool, I find the accent to be almost impossible to pull off. It’s so unique
Born in Liverpool, raised across the water, lived in Manchester for the last too fucking long but yeah, I'm 55 now and clobber used to be pretty well used but not heard it for years, or should that be yonks, do they still say yonks over that way?
