Personally, its just the Gegenpress style taking the toll on Liverpool players. Liverpool need to invest in young energetic players (also injury free) if they want to continue to with Klopp's Gegenpress.
gegen pressing will function AS ALWAYS with klopp system, bad for flopp he is super dumb, and poweless unlike pep so i tell u first 1. why flopp buying thiago, instead of someone like mctominay, and he repeat it with buying arthur melo (creator from barca) and also thiago (creator from bayern (HE IS MADE BY PEP SYSTEM! AND WORK) THIAGO ARENT MEAN TO PLAYING GEGEN PISSING like purge N flopp trash) 2. WHY LIVERPOOL lefties scouser are always jealous of almighty pep guardiola, WHY THEY WAN TO making some challenge, rivalities between haaland and nunez, and it COST HEAVELY TO THEIR SYSTEM! and they cant adapt it, loserpool always loserpol playing with false 9 not real 9 3. I h*te looserpool so much, like madrid, and varculona, grow own player, make your own great, dont force rivelities with haaland just to gain popularities, always trash, always, enjoy the begining of fallen into depth, end of season liverpool will be 9 position
Too bad fenway sports group blew all their money on hockey in Western Pennsylvania. They've found a new toy and John Henry dosent wanna play with you anymore.
It just isn't though. Let's be real. If it was average joes doing gegenpressing constantly, sure, but these guys are professionals and elite professionals at that. They are a completely different level of fitness compared to normal people. The issues are the midfield being too old and the engine players are ageing - engine players are the kinds who will age poorly and we refused to invest despite the fact our midfield (other than Elliott, Jones and Keita who is very likely to leave anyway) is purely players who are 30 or older. This much was obvious to any casual observer, but FSG refused to invest.
@@tomspreadbury2915 my concern is klopp shoul buy physical type player like newcastle did, why he fell in to technique player like thiago and arthur? did he envy into pep system?
I feel like Liverpool are burnt out. I mean we gotta remember that they played more than 60 match last season and Klopp almost never change the first XI since their squad depth is lacking.
True, I also think the dream of the Quad still hangs heavy, towards the end of the season each game was viewed as a final so they went the extra mile each game to get over the line. Doing that for a few months must tire them out, coming so close to the Quad, playing all possible matches - all could be solid reasons for the drop off in form
Yeah true, but that's klopp's fault cause the Liverpool owners have said that they gave him a whole list of potential midfielders, he could sign and klopp rejected all of them, saying he prefers to work with smaller squads, and that is why I don't feel sorry for Liverpool ridiculous amount of injuries, cause most of them are self inflicted, cause it doesn't take a genius to tell you that playing a high press with the same aging players for nearly 3 seasons now with little to no rotation what's so ever, is bound to get your players injury prone
Played just 3 games more than City last season. City have played more games than Liverpool in 5 of the last 7 seasons. Also they are pro athletes and had 2.5 months off, just like everyone else. Their fitness is not the reason. As per games vs City and Napoli, it's clearly not a fitness issue.
And he improved massively as a teamplayer. Fights to get lost balls back and works in the back as well, he's my favorite player to watch in the whole Bundesliga
@@GIBBO4182 but that counts for most young super Talents. Pedri and Gavi play in one of the weakest la Ligas for a long time, same for vinicius Foden plays for city, same for haaland Mbappe at Paris is the same. Those players get their praise so musiala should get at least the same amount, if not more in my own opinion Edit: obviously all of those are super talented players and the likes of mbappe, haaland, musiala, vinicius, foden, pedri have all shown their skill and talent in the champions league against other big teams
Dude, I've been watching your content for a couple of months now. Truly appreciate your sense of humor and how you represent your topics just wanted to randomly thank you for your effort and your work and keep it up!
Physical burnout of a 60 match season + years of high intensity gegenpressing, and emotional hangover of missing out on the quadruple and etching their names into history - I think a slump was inevitable.
Thats why as a liverpool fan, i dislike Klopp's comment about us being "mentality giants". I remember about Klopp's comment too that he shouldve talk or comment less, and yeah, now where do they get into. I dont mind defeats. But the fact we are playing so prone to error, ugly sync, and half-soul on our L's just excruciating pain...
Where's the physical burnout for 59 match Chelsea, 57 match City? City have played over 55 games in 7 of the last 7 seasons. Liverpool played over 55 games just twice. Both squads undergo little and progressive change. It isn't burnout.
@@tomspreadbury2915 And what did Chelsea achieve last season? They gave up the title run much earlier and had no chance of winning, also got eliminated fairly early in the knockout stage of ucl football, meanwhile Liverpool lost both trophies by a slight margin, no player wouldn't feel burnout after that kind of heartbreak. Oh, and City... you mean the team literally swimming in money that can field two starting rosters good enough to compete in epl, seriously dude, i get that you don't like Liverpool but your arguments make no sense lmao.
When I saw the title I instantly thought of Gini. Liverpool’s midfield has never been the same since he left. I’m glad you mentioned him! Another great video
Gini was never the most technically gifted midfielder but he was a swiss-army-knife who could play anywhere and would never be outworked by anyone on the pitch. He won possession consistently. I remember often being disappointed by his vision in the final third but with Henderson aging we need a player like him. Bellingham 🤞
your humor is always on pint ngl. I love your vids. My dad lost track and passion to watch games but now thanks to your vids the flame has been restored.
I guess the club now is facing it's transition period where once used to be key pieces in the squad are not performing as they used to and now they have to find ways to replace them, i mean, let's be fair, this Liverpool has been an unstoppable machine over the last 5 or 6 years, it is impossible that a squad can keep the same performance for so long, something like this was ment to happen soon or later.
I'm a Liverpool supporter and I grew up during our mediocre years of the late 00's and early 2010's so for me Klopp is the first taste of glory I've had in my lifetime with the exception of 2005, I still vividly remember the horror and tears I shed witnessing the gerrard slip but regardless, the fact I was able to witness in my lifetime, us lifting every major trophy is something I'd never thought I'd see us do, I'll stick with the club through this season obviously, I've seen us in poor form before so it's not as much of a cold water shock to me but what hurts more is the fact this is a season thats wasted. Klopp signed an extension this summer yes, but he's got the task of basically starting a rebuild in what should be years where he achives the most, I don't want Klopp to get the sack, I'd rather a whole new team than that, if anything the more likely scenario is Klopp resigning. FSG for all the good they've done have gotten to a point were the negative outweighs the good now, their obsession with having a £0 net spend is detrimental to us now, refusing to improve the squad that took the quadruple/triple to the very last games is insane, there's such a disconnect between them and the club's needs that this seasons fault is in large part their fault, not all of it, but most of it.
Just wanted to say that this is easily one of the best if not the best football channel on yt (alongside Maqwell) The videos are filled with so much information and you're doing a fantastic job to get the information across while even being quite funny at the same time Really appreciate the effort 👌
apart from the obvious physical injuries and an aging lineup, being so close to being the best in the world; literally 2 matches away, and losing out on that can give a huge mental stress on that. I'm not making excuses for both klopp and the team, its just my opinion. We've been in tougher times back before Klopp came and I'll still keep supporting this beautiful club.
No matter the results I love my club and always will. As always thou great video very well put together you have a very easy voice to listen to. On a side note milli is a machine at his age keeping up with that training schedule.
Remember back in the day i Said you would become pretty big? I think we're well on our way! Almost 200k subs and sponsors and most importantly, the same quality content that made me certain that you could make it. Well deserved and it may very well just be the start!!
As a Liverpool fan, I agree with everything you have said. But also to add, I think Van Dijk and Fabinho's decline is also due to 2 factors. 1) they had serious injuries which sidelined them for a while. 2) they dont want to get injired and miss the WC. So with these two factors, as defensive players, they are much more passive. Both VVD and Fab's numbers of tackles have gone down, same with number of dribbles past has gone up. Alongside with an aging midfield and Harvey Elliot and TAA prone to defensive errors, our defensive record has been woeful. Hope we buy some good B2B or defensive midfielders like Rice or Bellingham in the next transfer window. Our midfield is getting exposed hard.
Lack of investment is the biggest reason for our decline. If the owners actually backed Klopp and allowed him to replenish the squad we'd be actively competing for trophies.
Saw this video just now, and since I'm an avid Liverpool fan, I have to watch your thoughts on the condition of the team. Because I don't have any idea anymore. 😢
An average striker who managed to win 2 golden boots, had a good world cup, and failed at Manchester United, Inter Milan and was average/mildly good at Atletico Madrid. // there you go! No need to thank me.
@@electricbogaloo there is no disrespect. Anyone who has seen him play at Manchester, Villareal, Atletico and Inter can tell you. People are hyped because of his World cup. He did manage somehow go get 2 golden boots. But he was average at best aside of these 3 events. I really liked his world cup too. The thing is after that he did nothing and before that he was average. It’s ok, it happens to a lot of players. Lets just not rate him higher than he was.
Liverpool fan. I swear it looks like our defenders don't even know how to defend no more, our midfield is non existent, and also, I think we're knackered. Our attack is our only shining light. And even then, we miss a lot of chances
@@FxnWaySheGoes Yeah.....I think Konate should be a starter, but VVD ain't looking like himself. I think that injury impacted him...and I don't blame him
@@michaeluzoho5838 There has been some effect but he was good last year, he will recapture his form, i just think theres a mental issue in the team too,.
the muscle and tendons has their limit so like you said running that much during game and training got these already aging players to injuries also there is limited rotation signing injury prone players like you said and their worst problem is the lack of natural sniper striker like lewa haaland or benzema, liv attackers over last 3 or 4 seasons mostly kick the ball into gk hands or outside the mid is a major problem also virgil plays well when he is next to matip they complete each other but next to gomez he makes mistakes
Been saying this all season, there is a huge systemic issue due to loss of Mane. He was the talisman up front and led the press. Because he isn't there any longer, the rest of the squad are getting caught out of position
Best football content channel by far. Great style, great humour and concised, focused presentation without stretching it. Keep up the good work! PS: ManU supporter is always a big plus for me :)
Hello, I know you're a busy bloke. Due to the recent events of how good Lisandro Martinez has been, My request was that you made a video of the last defender to win the golden ball. He was as tall as Lisandro and that could make nice content for educational and entertainment reasons. Take care man, from Zambia with Love.
Nunez is still fine, he has visible weaknesses if he won’t fix them he probably won’t be at the top past the age of 30 but as long as he is strong and fast, he can get goals
Liverpool were very special last year, probably the culmination of JK’s time at Liverpool. Maybe not as many points as previous years but other teams had improved. For such a small effective squad dropping from that height was quite likely. I still see top 4 as quite possible.
The win over City was due to a few things: Liverpool, to their credit, played like the Liverpool of old; they changed their tactics by dropping their line back by about 20-25 meters so they were far more compact and didn’t suffer a high line which has been their downfall in a lot of recent games (attributable to an ailing midfield some would say); Pep also played a huge role in the Liverpool win by doing what is usually the root of his losses in big games…he overthought it as he changed his tactics & personnel (will the man ever learn not to tinker in the big games? More importantly, if he does, change it immediately when it is obviously not working?); Pep’s stubbornness and refusal to change his tactics & personnel also helped sink City. Liverpool rose to the occasion and played better than they’ve played all season v City and Pep shot himself in the foot by overthinking it and refusing to change it until it was too late.
I think this has always been a problem for Klopp. It seems like he and his team manage to gather some gems that turn out world class, then they eventually tire out and when he tries to gather new young players they never pan out or turn out as good as the other players. I also don’t know why Liverpool haven’t been spending more money tbh. They’ve won a lot of trophy’s and must have a lot in the bank by now.
defensively we are at the same point we usually are in over the past years and I have no worry about it but other factors are putting more pressure on the defence not letting it operate the way it usually does. attacking wise its a bit rough due to injuries and Nunez and salah finding it hard to put the ball in the back of the net but the chances created are still their so I have no worry about the attack in the long run. mid field has dropped off so much. I don't know whether it is because of age or very bad form but we cant keep the ball. last season defensively our midfield was on different levels and our possession in all games was dominant, maybe a bit whiffy on the chances created, but now our midfield literally cant keep the ball, 2 of our midfields don't look anywhere near good enough to play in the first team (hendo and elliott) and the other 4 are good enough but are dealing still with bad form or are very injury prone which makes our midfield very weak as anyone of them (ox, thiago and kieta) could get injured any moment leaving us with just 3 midfielders (fab, elliott and hendo) which again looks insanely weak and watching performances over this week, wont even get us top 4. we need to keep kieta on until the end of the season and then he needs to decide whether to stay or go, we need to buy in a defensive midfielder to compensate and help fab so we can get back to our best shape and we need a midfielder with some creativity and spark to their play.
The Mane narrative was to illustrate that he never had a major injury crisis and that his departure resulted in a shift in structure. Plus, he is good for goals and remember that all of Liverpool's losses have been by a single goal. I don't think he would save Liverpool from their current state. But he would be one less worry for sure.
It’s the result of years of gegenpressing. The injury crisis of 2021-22 meant that the players had a year where they didn’t have to “fight” as much (physically and mentally) so they came into 2021-22 fresh and with something to prove, but yeah this is the inevitable result just like Klopp’s dortmund where it’s roughly two years to build, 4 years of success then the seventh year is the fallout
Yes I think you hit the nail on the head with the poor preseason prep in Asia (they always insist on touring Asia and it always hurts us) and secondly, the amount of injuries all over the team has been immense.
How can people be so quick to think this club is decline when just 5-6 months ago Liverpool were in contention to being the first club to win a Quadruple. People have such short memories
@@FootballIconic All the comments about Liverpool being “burnt-out” or that the squad is getting “too old”. When we’re living in an era where being 30 isn’t old anymore. It seems like people are trying to connect too many dots that aren’t really there.
@@JuanDiaz-um1mx 30 isnt old but try a midfield full of options of 38, 33 (and always injured), 33 (and often injured), 31 (but always injured), 30, 29 (but always injured) 23 and 19. The top players who perform well into their 30s are technically gifted like Modric. Players that depend on physicality like Henderson, Fabinho and Milner typically decline rapidly and all three just happen to be doing so at the same time. Liverpool have Thiago but that's it. The simple answer is we needed to sign 2 or possibly more midfielders. We signed zero.
If I may, I think people underestimate the morale effect of not actually achieving the quadruple. Remember, they lost the Premier to a City team without a striker and the Champions League to a literal miraculous run by Real Madrid (and I am a Madrid supporter admitting that). I think, that as you said, they concede first and that does not help their mentality. Look at Real Madrid where I think we spent 60-80% of the games last season losing during the first 60 minutes of the match but always coming back through sheer grit (and luck).
Bro you’re good... am a Liverpool fan and people haven’t noticed that Gini Wijnaldum departure has been one of your first problems. Your sense of humor is out of this world, nice journalism, keep it up.
They aren’t bad or forgot how to play, this is just a sign of the club, players and manager feeling burnout and being the most watched side in world football. Everyone and their grandmas have figured them out, that plus the burnout and injuries has led here. If the board and supporters are patient, they’ll rise again. Klopp has perhaps the hardest task in evolving his side and adjusting, but as fitness is restored and aging players are fazed out and new ones join, the side will return to the top.
My thoughts: Injury prone players come at a discount. Fenway sports group implement moneyball concept. Which looks for undervalued assets (players). Hence the purchase of so many injury prone but amazing talents
Great vid once again but I feel you have underrated Luis Diaz. Apart from maybe Thiago, he’s been our best player nearly every match he’s played. Though he’s not yet fully replaced Mane, he’s one of the only shining lights and he gives me hope.
Mané earned that high second place in ballon d'or only because he has good reputation even what did in senegal but second has be lewandowski 3. KDB 4.Salah 5. Mbappe, mané maybe 6-10 place. And Bellingham don't won kopa trophy because he don't play in Barcelona And bundesliga Is highly underrated, for example, kimmich and nkunku should have been higher than rafa leao, who is just being hyped because he looks good, I'm not saying he played badly, but he didn't have the same impact on the game as kimmich or the numbers like nkunku. It's just that sometimes it's not important in such things how well you play, but for what club and you play league
As a liverpool fan, i kinda bit felt betrayed. Last season after 2/4 final defeats, Klopp talks and gives the vibes about "getting stronger next season to repay back". we celebrsted the double thinking that this is what the plsyer needs. Heck, ask any liverpool fans, we dont mind those pre-season thrashing because we believe. But seeing this season's run, its just disappointing, because mostly our game is lacking and error-prone, as if somebody downgrades all pool's player FIFA rating and turn it into reality. Dont confront me, i always support them, but Klopp's comment about us being "mentality giants"? Well its just BS. He needs to shut his mouth more. Otherwise im grateful about him
Wijnaldum UCL goals against Barca always gives me goosebumps. Hopefully they can bounce back after world cup City will dominate if they don't yes Arsenal won't win lets all be realistic lol.
Right as they beat the best team in Europe… it seems like all of takes are amazing until the day they come out Love and support this channel, once more a banger, man, thank you!
Fiorentina drew and beat them in their two latest matches, modern mediocre Barcelona rinsed them 4-2 i have no idea why you'd call Napoli the best team in Europe, seems like a massive overestimation, i'd expect Liverpool to beat Napoli and any other squad in the Italian league any day of the week
Thank you for making this video bra i honestly needed someone else's opinion on liverpool inconsistency but then again I have to give them credit on uefa they are still winning there for now at least. Am glad you mentioned departures of Mane, Vanajldum and origi because those guys most importantly were not injured for most of their time at anfield but for some reason Klopp chose to let them go
Just so you know, I was already thinking of leaving your video when you showed your face (because I had a feeling something was off and there would be an ad), and eventually, there was an ad (pretty awkward start) and I immediately closed the video. I don't know how, but, after a great start with the video, you made it seem like a bother to keep watching (it seems like it's just criticizing, but I want to help, if it weren't that I wouldn't have left this comment)
I think mane leaving liverpool was a big blow too some people thought they were gonna do jjst fine since they bought nunez but they have been struggling.I think if they can buy a midfielder who's very solid.
Amazing video agian👏. Just wondering could you maybe in the future do a video on lisandro martinez, even before he kicked a ball for United people were doubting him, but he proved them wrong💪
The fact that people still argue that liverpool hasn’t spent enough or can’t spend enough to outmuscle the European heavyweights need to understand that since 2015 Liverpool have a net spend of 310 mil while Real Madrid have a net spend of 50 mil. It’s not always about how much you spend but how you spend it. Even the casual fan could’ve told you Arthur was a terrible bandaid to put on a team that already struggles with injuries. The club executives are to blame.
Man the mustaches are sick! to me: 1)They replaced Georginio with arthur, who's litterally nobody at this point 2) Replaced Sadio with Luis Diaz, and that is basically replacing a lambo with a fiat panda 3) Virgil is playing like Bonucci 4) Nunez is reliable like an 80's (or today's, for that matter...) Range Rover (you can't say i'm italian and love cars, don't you???) 5) The average age of the midfielders, like you noted, is closer to my dad's than mine 6) a down year, coupled with less investments, was bound to happen
Hey bro, great insightful video once again. Do tell, what’s your teleprompter/script setup? What do you do to flawlessly read your script while looking at the camera?
They cant play heavy metal without burn out kickin in. They will pick up but the question is how they handle injuries/burnt out players. The squad players need to step up.
