Lived in Dingle, loved this whole area, I'm 71 yoa, was a painter and decorator working for Cousins painted the shop on 'Eggy Rd' a number of times, my wife's sister married one of the Hoggs, and still live in the old dairy in Little Parkfield Rd. I have a photo of me next to the Peter Pan statue aged about 3 yoa, remembert seeing a 'Teddy Boy' fall in Sefton Park lake in his best Sunday suit, I cried laughing. Such happy memories

Great memories. My grandad was a police sergeant at the Police station in Lark Lane. My cousin owned Salon Bleu, the hairdressers on the left going up towards the park. I lived in Parkfield Road and Marmion Road. My mother and I both worked part-time in Jack's fruit shop, next to Ransom's jewellery shop on the corner of Waverley Road. My father was born in a flat over what has been Platt's the butchers and is now Keith's wine bar. I also worked on Saturdays in Monty's sweet shop which was nextdoor to Paul's the Barbers. My sister and I went to Brownies at the old Clinic which is now Maranto's. How it has changed !!

My parents lived above a bicycle shop at the corner of 13a Lark Lane and Little Parkfield Road. This was my first home back in December 1965.

I lived in 43 Siddely St and went to St. Michaels and then Dingle Vale schools. These pictures brought back so many memories. I used to deliver milk on the back of a horse drawn cart when I was 11 years old. Hoggs Dairy. Thanks so much for posting this. I loved it. I always enjoyed living there. I moved on to Moreton, then South Africa and now live in the United States. No place like where you grew up though. I need to pay another visit. :) Thanks so much for posting.

Weren't lucky. Mossley Hill, Allerton, and Woolton were the posh places around Liverpool throughout the 60s and 70s. Just about everywhere else it was pretty rough.

Was Born and Bred in Caryl Gardens. I had the pleasure of being a guest in both of them mate, when I was a youngster of course and only for pranking around. I always remember my Mam having to come to Essex St to pick me up. The Bobby brought me to the front desk and as soon as my Mam saw me, she belted hell out of me in front of the desk Sergeant who had a big grin on his face. I`m in my mid 60s now.

And one thing stands out straight away at the start, how clean the roads are, the problem today is that nowadays some people shouldnt be allowed top get away with things, bring back conscription and you will see how much the UK as a whole gets.

An absolute shame to see this street now.. the council have destroyed the integrity of how beautiful it once was.. the same for the whole of Liverpool.
@jazbar49
@jazbar49 3 года назад
You have not seen it. This is just a post of ignorance. The Lane has hardly changed since these pics. Council have repaired roads. Buildings are all private property. Nor have you seen Liverpool today, and its elegant conserved buildings. RUBBISH.

Great video, I'm looking for old photos from the other end of Lark Lane, my father had an electronics shop at 88 Lark Lane, about 4 doors down from the Rushton Garage, from 60's through to the late 80's , I can't find anything online that shows the park gate end.

I did post another with fewer slides on a while back, that got 1,868 views and 14 likes and also had lots of views, and likes, on a Lark Lane page on FB, and on Facebook in general. Sometimes when people watch on FB they "like" it but it doesn't show on RU-vid. At least there are no dislikes, lol. Thank you for watching and also your feelings about our roots.

@Don Cross. I used to live in Speke and I remember Cousins in The Parade. Are we talking about the cake shop? We belonged to St. Aiden’s Church. I used to go to the swimming baths on Saturdays. I left for America in 1968 but I still love to see these great videos of my old home. I remember going to Otterspool Park with my Mum and brothers when we were kids. I can remember the beautiful rhododendrons on the slopes.

Don Cross : when I was very young we used to live on Hughes’s street in Garston. I remember a church under the bridge, I think that it was St Mary’s. Do you go back to Liverpool to visit? I still have a cousin who lives in Walton. I’ve only been back to England about 4 times in 50 years. I live in California now and it’s such a long way to go to visit England. Who knows if I will ever get back there with the mess that the whole world is in right now. We’ve been in isolation since the beginning of March.

As my dear late nan said, back then they didn't have much but made it through life. Try with today's lot. I still also love Sefton Park although the powers that be could pay more attention to it.

what's with the once upon a time music, lol lark Lane was so insignificant come on get real,, the holy land yes but that's off Park Road anyway sevvo Park is at the bottom of larky, ideal when in the presence of a scouse lady lol 😝 😝 😝
@TommyBrown7
@TommyBrown7 7 лет назад
Alright Joe, 1st can I thank you for watching. Not many people get the "once upon a time" tune, which is just a nice tune and like it say's "once upon a time"....anywhere really. I'm not so sure Lark Lane was so insignificant to people who were born or lived there really, me included. The Lane was unique, like a village with a big garden, Sefton Park, where I did some courting too, lol. My mums side of the family were from the Dingle, mainly the tennies, where I spent a lot of time, but all over Liverool 8. I also went to DVS so had lots of mates from the holy land. I used to walk through the holy land on the way to Stebby baths almost weekly, and agree that it is special too. I have a video on here which covers Park Road and Milly and includes the holy land. Again thanks for watching and comments always welcome. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T7_E0wjnc64.html
