VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
This unique tour is one that must not be missed. Joe, a Navy serviceman, has been living on "Toko" his 36ft, 1982 Ed Munk offshore yacht for the last year! Living tiny isn't new to Joe as he was part of the #vanlife movement traveling around Japan, but living on a boat full time was a whole new beast. Fortunately, the previous owners took immaculate care of interior but like anything from 1982 there needed to a facelift. The auto-pilot, electronics, and electric wench were all areas that Joe tackled. With so much space to hang both in the interior and on the "back deck," Joe has really made this boat his home. Awesome job Joe, and may you have fair winds and flowing seas!

Any young man that reads Hemmingway, plays guitar, and served in the Navy is someone I admire. Well done with this video.

Love it. I did the same in order to save money and retire early. It was the early days of the "simple living" movement, shortly after the book, "Your Money or Your LIfe," was first published in 1990. My boat wasn't anywhere near as nice as Joe's, but I loved living on it anyway. It was a 1972, 35-foot pontoon houseboat that I owned for 23 years and lived on for eight. It was more like a floating RV. I was able to save about 70% of my income while living on that boat as I worked my way toward retirement. It took about 15 years before I retired, but that's not bad considering I had almost nothing when I began. And it wasn't even a sacrifice. There is nothing better than living on the water, at least in my view. I loved every minute of it. I've been retired for 13 years now and often think of returning to a life on the water.

My husband and I own a 35ft Catalina and we've been living on it since May of 2017. Sold our home, sold our furniture and came out with the clothes on our back

This boat is very impressive. I enjoyed watching every inch of the video. Hats off to the young man for the way how he made his presentation. I hope that he has many years of pleasure on his boat.

I was a teacher for 37 years. I retired 6 years ago. This young man is the kind of person I hoped all of my students would have aspired to.

The ultimate bachelor pad on water. I like it! 😃 Also I like how clean you have kept the boat on the inside. You definitely take care of your boat.

I just watched your video and it brought back such great memories. I also lived on a Ed Monk design trawler but it was built on Lake Union in Seattle. I lived for 10 years on mine and it truly was the best time of my life. As a female it was such a good feeling learning how do things that men take for granted. I could so identify with you when you were talking about the smells, feelings and sleeping that you just don't get on land. Thank you for sharing your life.

I'm impressed by the way how you put so much more into these 16 minutes than a walkthrough. Thanks

Me and my wife, have lived on our Bestway 42, for 2;1/5 years here in sweden, we live south of Stockholm in the baltic sea. The winters is cold and long, but it worth it. I bought a bluetooth backing camera for cars, and put the camera in the engineroom, and the screen, on flybridge, so i can se if we are floding,or burning, or what ever. The camera is, ir, so it works in the dark. Great video.thanks.

That is so refreshing that you appreciate the older equipment..Don't just replace it with new stuff..keep the old cool stuff ,even if you don't use it..

I’m 26. Did four in the Marines and 4 in the Army. Recently got out. I was really tempted to do the boat life. I just purchased a 1965 Holiday Rambler Cabover so I guess I went trailer life lol. I am planning on living out of it and heading out west to work at the national parks for a bit. Hopefully within the next month I can start to live out of it full time. Who knows maybe eventually I’ll switch over to a boat. It looks great!
