So we’re just not gonna talk about the panties on the wall 🧐 All jokes aside, thanks for coming by and making my house look pretty! Hurry up and move to LA so I can have more RU-vidr friends ❤️
the arguement was that you cant straight nosegrind a round rail. Garret being able to disprove that was the mind blowing factor. still... not sure how many straight nosegrinds there are out there on bigger rails
it's wild to see garret go from being kicked out from a rental because of building a mini ramp in the backyard(if i'm remembering correctly) to owning his own property and doing it again but better
props on the editing for this one! you could feel the fun you guys had and see the respect you each have for each others skill. some great chemistry on display. sorry Dale, John gotta new bestie, lol
I hate open floor plans with a passion. If you live alone its fine but when you add 2 or more people to a living space the noise just echoes to every corner of the house. its the worse
I completely agree regarding the nosegrind / overcrook debacle. I also opinionize that a manual is WITH an ollie and without the ollie its just a wheelie... period!!!
Great video! I enjoyed Garret and your dynamic. Dale and Garrets videos are also great, I suggest a Garret, Dale and John video with street skating please.
Well technically yes. I was also an overcrook guy for a long time but then I just thought - 99% of people who grind on the front truck on a round rail pinch it. So it is a nosegrind for them. I mean if I was able to do nosegrinds on round rails even if I pinched it I would still call them nosegrinds. Because then there a valid argument could be made on a lot of the 5-0 grinds done either on a rail or on a box that they’re turned, so they are actually Suski or pivot grinds. Oh and back 180 nosegrinds? Those are rarely balanced and all the way 180’d. What would those be? Technically back 180 crooks…? It’s sometimes logic, sometimes tradition when it comes to trick names. And for me that’s kind of okay as long as we can explain each other what the fuck the trick is that we’re trying.
@@bovedli "Overcrook" wasn't even really a term when I was growing up. Never even considered that anyone would want to call a nosegrind on a round rail something else because of the natural pinch. And now I still call it a nosegrind when I do them, and I'll continue to do so especially because of the people who get so mad about it. 😆
One of your best videos so far, loved the energy the editing the music everything felt natural like a nice chill sesh at the homies crib like how it should be gray job man keep it up!
I get the feeling Ginner just has rich parents, full stop. I also get that feeling from John Hill, as well. Then again, it's all really a matter of perspective and mine are so poor that the vast majority of comments below are gonna be people from rungs above on the ol social ladder
I grew up skating with the pro Ryan Smith quite a bit as there weren't a lot of skate spots in the town we grew up in (Zero New Blood, he's the guy that did the ?18? stair back lip for the closer of the Mystery teaser) . He had just gone pro when we'd met and I had just gotten flow for Circa and was on the local shop team. One day when we were skating, I was trying Kickflip front nosegrinds on a round rail and after a few tries he said "you got it, you just need to lock in. turn your body and lock in overcrook and you got it" and he went and did a kickflip front over crook. It confused the hell out of me, so I was like "dude, they're different tricks". I did exactly what Garrett just did and I just got the most wild deja vu because his response was EXACTLY the same as Johns. Next, the skateboarding industry needs to make nollie rotation tricks follow the same front side and back side rules as the other 3 stances.
I agree 1000% with them being different tricks (Nosegrind and Crook / Overcrook), in the same way a Salad and a 5-0 aren't the same trick, one is locked either heel-side or toe-side with the board strait and the other has to be pinched with both wheels against the ledge or rail (but the same arguments exist there, because if its bs it's a Suski if it's over the rail it's a salad, etc it should just be salad over salad and crook over crook, but i get it and appreciate it the names have historical significance, etc) and while we are on the topic i'm also on the side of recognizing heel-side locked, toe-side locked and cross locked 50-50's as all being their own separate tricks.
Totally agree with Garet... or blondie? When I learned nosegrinds I took them to round rails and kept them straight. Going for the over crook you need to use way more shoulder and hip involvement. But then again on flat rails its much easier to see the difference.
That nosegrind/overcrook blew my mind. Lol I can do them both ways too yet people would ask me and I would tell them to call it whatever they want .. It's like I separated the two in my mind yet people haven't really separated the two in the skating community
Garrett: "this is notoriously very very very hard to skate, I don't think anyone has had a good sesh on their first time" *10sec later* John has a sick skate edit to a sweet lil lofi dnb tune John is always skating the most random and wild spots so this is nothin for him. Love that they'll be collabing more :)
@Charles ahh I see, an uncultured man who has never been to a rave or seen a DJ play before. For songs you don't know you ask for the ID of them. It's the identification of it if you don't know what that means. I understand you are stuck in the prehistoric times and listen to dad rock. Eventually you'll make it around.
@@bigtub22 Yo i dont see what the charles dude commented but this seems unnecesarily condescending. You really only needed to say the 2nd sentence and could've left the rest out, if you want to educate people at least be nice about it. Not everyone listens to electronic music or knows about the culture so having an attitude like this will probably turn people away from the scene more than help it grow. Just something to keep in mind for the future 👍 If you're a Griz fan, keep in mind to SLSL 💜
@Devon McAllister it's a joke dude. He said something unnecessary to me so this being the internet I said something unnecessary back. It's not that serious people make jokes
Best video in a long time. My two favorite you tubers and skateboarders. Great start of my day. And yes, you both live your dreams thanks to working so, so hard!! No spoiled men. Respect!
I never understood the nosegrind vs overcrook debate. one is straight and the other is crooked. you might be pinching on the heel for both tricks but the pinch doesn't make the trick, the orientation of the board does
Totally with Garret on the overcrook thing. It started driving me crazy when people started saying "overcrook on a rail doesn't exist it's just a nosegrind because nosegrind just naturally falls into a overcrook" but they have no problem saying a salad or a suski can be done on a rail. Where's the logic? lol
i never thought the nosegrind vs overcrook was even a thing you can clearly see the different lock in and twist of body with over crook lol 2 similar but very different tricks
I've watched Garrett grow up... It's weird. Used to be a crappy little ego weirdo to an amazing human... Always was, but now he is more humble. And I love him for it
8:32 I can’t do the trick, but I agree that a nose grind should be straight. It’s for skaters with dummy bananas board control. I’ve tried to nose stall on Tran and it always goes to over k
Yeah Garrett has done really well he has a sick house. You could put a pool table in the 2nd lounge room n make it a games room coz if you put sheet of wood on top you can use it as a pool table. N put small house basket ball hope on the wall n get a soft basketball.
Steve Berra was on one of his typical Instagram rampages a few years ago telling people you absolutely cannot nose grind a hand rail, therefore even though it's an overcook it's really a nose grind because "that's the only way you can nose grind a rail". True story
Overcrooks are meant to be harder than nosegrinds, which they are when done backside. But they’re generally easier than nosegrinds when done frontside, hence why they just get called nosegrinds.
Doing a fs overcrook (on a round rail specifically)is like doing a frontside 5-0 pinching it and because it's slightly sideways calling it another trick..
Hi John. Long term RU-vid follower since Cincinnati. I’ve been waiting this long for you to stop shouting the words “Keep Killing It” and start speaking them. 😊 It’s the right decision.
