Visited Miami for the first time back in April of '16. Drove all the way from Naples where I was visiting my cousin. I get on Ocean Drive and I immediately thought, "we're screwed". No parking anywhere in sight. I wanted so badly to get a taste of that beach, but it seemed impossible. Then lo and behold, a spot opened up right across from the Clevelander Hotel. Felt like I won the lottery. In my eyes it was glowing like the gates of heaven.😂 Had a great time!
There’s a bunch of parking garages in between Collins & Washington Ave. You can park and walk over to Ocean drive. There’s plenty of parking in the daytime, but they get full at night.
I've always been in love with tropical weather. I've been to Florida for vacation more than once but not any further down than Orlando. But now let me tell you a story. The other week I got out to my car to head off for work, and behold, a thick layer of ice encasing my car, as a result of the "freezing rain" we got overnight. So thick in fact that I took my snow scraper and took my first scrape at the ice and the blade just slipped across it barely making a mark. Quickly following is a phone call to work to let them know I'll be late. So around here, you're not late to work because of the traffic, but you're late because you have to dig your car out of an icy burial. It's days like those I dream to live in a place like Miami 😂😂
South Beach parking tip: If you're staying for the day, just pay for like an hour and eat the parking ticket. It'll be cheaper than paying for a garage or plugging the meter, and you can pay easily online.
hey Brian! haha to be honest I usually don't pay and risk the ticket or if it is during the week before 6pm you can park in the residential area and it is free till 6pm
@@ernk75 South Beach is notorious for towing. They are almost predatory. I parked at a no parking zone to make a quick phone call. Tow truck passed by, made a U-turn, and made a bee-line for my car. I drove off as he pulled up.
Having moved to Europe , I miss Miami so much! I agree with all your cons ,100% accurate, but the Pros outweigh that anytime! I miss those sunsets and amazing views! Thank you for the video, Miami will always be my home :)

I am moving to Miami in a couple months and people tell me the traffic and driving is bad....I drive Uber in NYC for 6 years and I cannot imagine Miami drivers and traffic being worse than NYC. I seen everything so far....or almost everything.

trafic is not just a miami thing its every city thing. if you watch video of any city everyone will say 'trafic sucks' but miami traffic is not bad compared to other cites.

Miami reminds me a lot of the Gold Coast in australia where I used to live. The climate is the same and the vibe seems similar. Miami just seems like a giant version of it. I love the different cultures and food you have there though. I definitely want to move to the US one day, probably Florida.

As a broward resident but that works in Miami the commute is horrible because distances are so long a 30 min drive feels like an hour and 20 min drive and Miami people don’t know what this blinker is

I have been back and forth to Miami since 97 . The last time I lived in Miami was 2015 . I have plans to move from Seattle to Miami . I have a Financial Trading and Consultation business called Pirate Global Options . I use to work at the Mansion in South Beach . My concern is the mayor wants Fortune 500 and Tech companies to move to Miami . I have witnessed the devastation these companies can leave with a city in Seattle .

Hey Taner! thanks for the love. Hmm... depends if you want a home or condo and your lifestyle you know. But I would say Brickell, Miami Beach, Midtown/Edgewater are awesome areas.
Midtown/Edgewater is the best area. I moved here in July 2020 from Tampa, FL and I love it! You have everything nearby, you have Miami Beach 10 minutes away, Brickell/Downtown 5 minutes away, the entertainment, music, art and shopping districts 5 minutes away. You have the Miami Design District, Brickell City Center, and Wynwood (where all the cool restaurants and painted walls are) just a few blocks from home. You can walk and visit green areas to exercise and on top of that you have ocean views while doing so. I recommend this area a lot and the best part is you have Brickell close by but you won’t have to deal with the daily traffic and bridges going up and down every time over there.
I've been to Miami and yeah there are bad stuff about Miami yet I still love it. Definitely seen some of what he's talking about here and wish I was there longer to see more of beautiful Miami.
Hey Emily! great question. Definitely there is lots of opportunities in Miami for young professionals since there are so many businesses and industries down here. However you need to find the right areas/neighborhoods and group of people that have that same goal mindset for it to become achievable because you can also get distracted here easily and end up forgetting your goals if that makes sense.
I’m leaving my city and moving out to Miami on my own with no job or place to stay yet. I’m applying for jobs and booked a small room to stay in the mean time when I get there. I’m from Orlando but moved up north all my high school years. I’m coming back tho.

haha actually Charlie ive been to bogota and stayed for a month and been all over Colombia, I am from Argetina and traveled all over south america and I agree driving over there you have to be 10x more aware and cautious.

I am in native of and born and raise but now I live up north in Maryland go back home at least 4 to 5 times a year short trips 3 4 day short trip. love it but other than that I will never want to make it my primary residence again, great place to visit but having to deal with those people on a year-round basis would be freaking torture twothumbs up for visiting though especially in the winter!

If there is a con about the city, is that it is a city essentially for Spanish speakers. Just ignore the tourist sections, old-age homes, and beachfront palatial estates, and it becomes clear. The economy of Miami is linked to the economies of major Latin American businesses which are thriving. Thus, Miami has a distinct Latin flavor. The Latin cultures permeates every square mile like cologne. Notwithstanding, Spanish is commonly spoken. With this hive of activity, it's commonplace to notice white people are moving out of Miami; and they are still moving out. They simply could not adapt or learn the language. I know English is taught in school, but remember unless they want to join the civil service or military, or move out, the English language learners just languish there until the school system tells them it's time to "leave." I don't want to be one of those people who say come to Miami and found out to their chagrin that English fluency is widely uneven. So, speaking Spanish is a must. If there is a pro, I am glad that tunnel is built and making traffic much easier than ever. It is a beautiful drive and makes me feel like I am in a different dimension. There should be movies and TV shows that make episodes from this. I think it is missing from the movie mogul's minds. Whether it is Dodge or Watson or the reverse nothing can do wrong. I also want to say that the tunnel looks very European to me. I don't know if its the shape of the tunnel or the lights lighting the road, I just like the wat it is presented. It is the best less-than-a-mile journey I have ever taken. It sure beats seeing the big trucks that rumble on Collins Avenue that was causing all the traffic and slowing everyone down. When the idea of the tunnel was proposed, the then Ronald Reagan though it was "pork barrel" project. Years later it turned out it was the best project South Florida had ever conceived. The construction really went well. Lastly the best part about it that it was free to anyone who used it. Now that is kind and beneficial to everyone. I really appreciated it.

As with buying or renting; if you can buy then its always the best choice if you are planning to keep the property for at least 5+ years. @@Pyriel2 bugs aren’t really a problem. You’ll more than likely find geckos and cane toads. The geckos keep the bugs in check and are actually cute. The cane toads are a nuisance.

Just finished watching. I grew up in both Broward and Miami dade counties. I like your top 2 through 5 things you like. I live in maryland now and I dont miss your favorite thing...miami weather. Never a day in DC or maryland that I wish for humid rainy miami weather (dry season miami weather is okay for me)...maybe I am unique, never saw snow until i moved from miami in my early 20s to DC...less rain up here, very humid and hot in summer like miami, but I like 30 to 65 degree weather over 80 plus degree weather. Your top 5 things you hate are really just two things...driving for predictable reasons and rude tourists...both grievances are very true
Good video brother but what you're showing is more Miami Beach than anything else. I call Miami Beach the "TV Miami" The real Miami is Hialeah, SW, Coral Gables, Westchester, Homestead, Little Havana, Kendall, Sweetwater, Doral, Opa Locka, Liberty City on and on.. 😳
Honestly dont think 15 minutes is enough head start for a lot of areas, especially in broward. I know you are focusing on miami dade county in this video. But some people may assume broward county is less, but in fact the top 10 busiest intersection in the world is in pembroke pines, broward county, fl.
