I realize this is an older video, however, the peace and serenity is absolutely enveloping. Your quiet way is refreshing. The soup and biscuits look so scrumptious. I'm so glad I found your videos. The calm way you deal with, or handle things, like the windshield wiper situation, is so encouraging. Thank you for sharing your journey, I love being along! 🌷
My hat is off to you, you have a lovely way about you. I am not watching these videos in sequence but it doesn’t matter because I am just enjoying them. You have a wonderful spirit and it shows through in the videos. Keep going, and I love your dog and yes I know Ruby comes later.
Even with the wiper blades going out you managed to cultivate a calm and grateful energy. Not a lot of people can do that and I very much admire and appreciate you and this journey. I am a new subscriber and I am so glad I stumbled across your channel.
Your stew looks delicious and your cheddar biscuits too… you really can adapt to your surroundings very well… I’m a new subscriber to your channel and I love your cheery attitude and enjoy watching you go on your journey.. take care and safe travels ❤️
I love using RainX on my front & back windshield, I know the feeling bc I did have a truck & wipers quit during a rainstorm, RainX got me through it and on the way home!
Hey kiddo. Your younger than me. Haha I’m 62. Anyhoo, when I was about 48 maybe I changed out the wipes motor on my mercury Villager. Auto one has a little guy that climb up on my engine & diagnosed it & said it’s simple you can do it. He got simple instructions after doing a visual verbal outside. I pulled it up under my garage port & yes it was frickin cold but I did it. I felt so empowered. So far I’ve changed I out 4 furnace thermostats. You can do it girl!!!
Black walnuts are delicious! My best Christmas cookies are made with black walnuts! Thank you Rowan, this was such an interesting few days with you! Then again, they ALL are!
I can understand the appeal of a tiny home, especially since you are already living in such, and as you've pointed out. However, I recently saw a RU-vid video saying that you are not allowed to keep the wheels on a tiny home, and that it needs to be put on blocks. There were a few more "cons" to owning a tiny home. One was about taxation, and them being more expensive than their lower prices. I suggest you check out some videos and maybe even talk with a few ppl before attaching yourself to that idea. I think for your purposes, and with liking Travel and Dashing, a converted school bus or some such vehicle would fit your lifestyle much better. That way, you can pick up and go, as you do. See you soon. Thanks for your cheerful, determined, courageous attitude. 😊
My grandmother spun her own yarn from wool she got from her neighbors sheep! used to dye yarn with black walnut hulls. Also, goldenrod, sumac and and any wild berries she found in the woods. .that way she'd have red, yellow , blue and would mix them!
I really think you should write a cookbook. I am a cross stitcher and I dye Aida cloth, gonna try some black walnuts thanks to you. Really enjoying your videos.
Great vid tonight Rowan. I was hoping your wipes were just a fuse, but no such. But you got past that for now, with the help of grapes, and dye, and the really tempting meal you cooked. You are in my state now. Tonight is the Harvest Moon. Check it out if the clouds allow. Take care Rowan. As always, nice visiting with you.
As a Canadian subscriber new, came upon this on RU-vid, love your videos so thank you for being informative and showing us your journeys, stay safe!!!!👍🇨🇦❤️
Oh man, I’ve had such bad anixety lately I can’t function or watch videos or listen to podcasts but your videos are the only thing that’s brought me some peace. I never sit down to watch anything I’m always buzzing. The peace you have brought me during this time is so invaluable thank you Rowan I love watching you
All the things you said about pillows falling out, condensation, taking down window covers Haha I try to be gone in my temporary spot by 6:00 A.M. I buy my self coffee every morning, going into work or day off. I have grown to love Sunrise such a glorious, quiet, peaceful time of the day❤😊❤😊
Just FYI - sugar maple has bright yellow leaves in the fall. Black Walnut husk is an awesome dye, but sometimes it lightens as you rinse it and get a “mousy brown”. Around the same time of year, in Vermont and in Michigan - so safe to expect in Minnesota - there is a 2-3 ft bight plant with bright gold feathery flowers is Goldenrod, that also makes a wonderful bright yellow dye. Drop some some of those yellow flowers in with the Black Walnut husks and you will get a more vibrant brown. Adding more of the black walnut husks to the water will darken the dye and give you a deeper (and less mousy) brown. As an aside, black walnut husk is a great dewormer. Good for your traveling dog or cat as they eat things that maybe they shouldn’t. It’s very bitter and they don’t like it. That’s the challenge. There are good uses for goldenrod, as well. Having said that, notice where you harvest herbs before you prepare them. Campgrounds can be ok but are often not. They are close to roads, traffic is nearby and too many people use petroleum of some sort to start a fire. Fumes, gas, oils are all poisonous. It’s okay for a dye but not so much for an herbal preparation. Again, this is all an FYI.
I’m a new subscriber too and began with your latest videos then hopped to the beginning and now random again 😜. Rowan you exude kindness, you’re brave and inspiring. I’m gaining a lot of insights into your lifestyle and know that this is definitely on the books for me in the future ❣️ Thank you
They were very tasty! Black walnut is a great dye- I even accidentally dyed my hoodie while dying the yarn and I’ve washed it a few times and it still hasn’t come out! Lol
Rowan, happy you out ran the rain did the Rain X help? Dying the yawn was a great idea and show us the hat after you finish the hat. The fall colors were amazing! I’m sure the contrast between Washington and Minnesota in the fall is different. So excited for you to be out and see the beautiful places in the fall. Safe travels can’t wait to see where your adventures take you and as always thanks for taking the time to share with the fam!😊
You’re welcome Douglas! It’s beautiful here. I put the rain-x on! I should do a video of rain rolling off the windshield at some point lol that was a great suggestion until I can get the wipers fixed!
A quick+easy way to make biscuits is take some plain yogurt and some self rising flour, that's the only ingredients, form biscuits and bake, not sure how long. You're doing awesome!❤❤
Another great, easy thing to cook is...take big sausages, cut them in slices, also cut up an apple, fry then when almost cooked, add eggs+ scramble everything! It good for so many reasons, plus you only need shears to cut them up,you taught me that, enjoy this it's delicious
My partner Rosa does natural dyeing too, and we grow plants in the garden for that, but never considered foraging and dyeing on the road! That's a great idea!!
That’s awesome! One time I made a hat with stripes of yarn naturally dyed with different stuff, it came out pretty cool! What do you two grow? Someday I’d love to grow indigo. It’s such a pretty blue!
I remember my windshield motor went out also after driving from TN to WV. What a headache! That small part was expensive! 😣 Enjoyed another video! Thank you for taking us along in your life. I love it 💖 I have several maples in my front yard. They are my favorite. 💖
I remember wanting to buy an oak tree to plant at my family home my parents must have had a laugh about that. They probably made sure I had park time Irvine Regional Park is nearby in Orange, California beautiful, beautiful park
I think it would have been better if you had wet your yarn first. It would have dyed evenly😮 and maybe rince it in cold water before hanging. But hey girl, you do you.
This video scared me without wipers in the rain. Yikes. Love it that you love nature and sugar maple trees and I believe that plant was a muscadine bush. You could gather a lot and make jelly. Catching up on your older videos.
Wonderful video! It has so many different parts of your journey. The yarn dyeing and cooking was beyond cool. I used to dye doilies with tea. And, of course, I’d like cheese biscuits. Now!😂😂😂
Minnesota is beautiful! I went up to Bemidji and the northern part of the Mississippi (can’t remember the name of the state park). Beautiful ride! Love your videos!
The food looks awesome!! I was inspired recently to make a roasted red pepper soup from scratch. You definitely have given me motivation to give it a try very soon! I hope you can get your wiper blades fixed sooner than later
Great video again Rowan. Its inspiring how knowledgeable you are with trees and nature. The wool looks incredible and so does your soup. Those sugar trees i think you called them were stunning with all their colours. I received your stickers too so thankyou for that. See you on the next one 😊🍓🌿
Hi Sage! 😊 Thank you! I’ve been interested in learning about plants since I was a kid, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to share what information I’ve gathered along the way. I’m glad you got the stickers! 🌱🍓✨
@@justrowan great! Keep sharing your plant knowledge as I'm very keen to learn more. I love the idea of foraging so the more info the better. I'm sticking the sticker in my van 😊
Hello!! And welcome! 😊 My sweater/jacket thing is from bass pro. It’s so comfortable and warm and it feels like a blanket hugging me lol I definitely recommend it!
Do you have a video out of why you are living in your can . Just a little history .How old are you you see like an old soul but I’m guessing you are maybe 30
Ok, you braided your hair while driving, really? I need at least three hands to braid anything, so I want to see which foot you drive with and how long your toes are, please. Black walnuts make an exceptional nut bread as well as long as you're going to deal with the mess you should get the fruit of that labor.
