Apart from the drains I can hear my late grandfather shouting “well get out/up there & bleeding fix it” But who could understand those times without being there. Another great upload.

The Victorian terraced slums were replaced by modern high-rise slums

I could watch these social economic films all day - incredible what went on in the past and what goes on in today’s England. Have we learnt anything from the past & look at the ‘future’ the lady spoke of for her children!

The first half of the video could easily have been 1930s Britain.

Truly devastating to see that thile there has been a veneer of change, there is still a portion of an extremely wealthy country who live in complete poverty.

It's disgraceful that this was how people still lived in recent history, and kids these days think the world's come to a end if their ipads got a flat battery...

It's interesting to note that in the 70's the wealth gap between the rich and poor was the smallest it's ever been.

70s poverty was a struggle, it's like people were lucky to live past that decade

That's REAL poverty, not the 'poverty' of today. My late father grew up in conditions that were actually worse than those shown in the film in the 1940s and 50s. It was so bad he never talked about his childhood. Very sad.

Heartbreaking. It looks more like the 50s . How awful that people with no opportunities have to live like this. All the while the rich get and got richer 😞😞

And at this SAME TIME, those with jobs were going on strike every 5 minutes. And the country came SHOCKINGLY CLOSE to bankruptcy but the English NEVER REMEMBER THAT.

The conservatives have dismantled the welfare state recently, just when hard working folk need it due to coronavirus etc and this huge world global recession, back to the poverty of the Victorian era we go. 😳

Remember this was after 6 years of Labour government, and 25 years of the socialist consensus. Rent controls deprived people of affordable housing, and the office development permit prioritised offices over homes. Massive government expenditure resulted in soaring inflation and wildcat strikes. Every Labour government has increased unemployment and poverty. Socialism maintains and extends poverty - creating a client state.

Labour were in power leading up to this , Tories got into power in 1970 -74. Then Labour again up to 79 which ended in disaster as usual.

How many of the poor people actually live in poverty because of their bad habits, poor working skills, uncompetitive behaviour, superstitions, asceticism, and lethargy? that should also be researched.

Meanwhile in CURRENT DAY india, there's no money for new toys or cigarettes or alcohol and THEY'RE HAPPY regardless. Think about that. Even today in areas of Australia, poorer kids don't get new toys, and their parents don't go to tears about it. ENTITLEMENT. Because someone else has it but they don't.
