I missed Monday's episode and knowing that 'we' lost Gizmo, I just had to check it out. We had a dachshund like him when I was still at home decades ago, but I know what great companions they are. Very sweet that he continued to rest his lil chin on your forearm Jerry and that is how I will remember him. Thanks so much for sharing Gizmo with all us viewers. Enjoy playing with Schnapps over the rainbow bridge Gizzy!
I heard of Gismo’s passing and felt compelled to come back and watch HIS last show. What a sweet dog he was and you two showed him so much love. How many times did that pup lay his head on either Jerry’s or Linda’s forearms? He loved you two so much. It’s going to take some time for me to get over not seeing Gismo sitting on that chair during your shows. I’m so sad for your loss. 😢
Boy that puzzle clue will really cause this segment to take off!! Love the idea for the trolley shuttle. Back in the 70s when my grandparents lived in Century Village they had a tram (like at the Disney parking lots) to take people from village to village and to shopping. That burger deal doesn't sound like a deal. So sorry you had to re-record, but wow! That's dedication! Thank you!! Oh, and ARC was contacted. The old historic sections allow RVs in your carport. I've even seen them there in video golf cart tours. Even one that you did.
So sorry to hear of Gizmo passing…when you picked him up for his segment I was thinking that this may be the last time we will see him….I loved the way he always laid his sweet little head on Daddy’s arm….my pup is 14 now and I dread the day he leaves me….😢
Sorry Jerry, 😂 Linda is right! The drinks ARE too expensive. You proved it with your comment. 😅 If you can buy a liter of soda for two dollars why should they charge three dollars or more for an 8 -12 ounce drink (especially if refills are not free)? We are in California so we understand overpricing really well. Ps, my 10-year-old daughter says you “need to listen to Linda more, and not interrupt her 🤭😉…” Love your show so much! Take care 😊
I'm all for a shuttle service. They could charge a small fee and I'm sure lots of people would use this service. It might possibly cut down on the number of golf car accidents as well.
Yes I feel the exact same way! I enjoy watching them and life in the villages, it’s not for me Florida’s not for me, but I really enjoy watching the show!
Why do people have to comment when they don’t like your channel. Just don’t watch. You have over 60k subscribers so you are doing something right. I enjoy your channel. I find it informative and like your style in covering things. Keep up the good work!
I currently drive a 45 Foot Public Transit Bus....am considering moving to the Villages when I retire in a few years! Would LOVE to drive the Trolley down there part-time as I KNOW I'll never be able to just "Retire" and Do Nothing!
Awesome video 👍, the Trolley idea sounds like good idea if you try not to think about the potential for problems, who’s going to pay for the service and people getting left behind etc. You guys are killing it with those bloopers 😅
Regarding living on the $1100 a month section dont forget that even with no mortgage it sounds like you have to budget (save) for a new roof every 15 years or so which I seem to remember from previous videos might be at a cost of maybe $20000.
Everywhere inflation is the excuse for over charging. If we would quit paying maybe prices would decease. A lot of items have gone down in price but it will never be past along.
We have always said trolleys would be a great idea. They are just collecting dust and should be used. It would be super cool. Clearwater Beach area had that and it was wonderful. Lots of places use trolleys.
Square One Burger sounds like our Red Robin of Burgatory here in Pa. Had two burgers and two cokes that comes with fries and it was $35.00 and change plus the tip @ Red Robin . The other place Burgatory cost even more. Linda, I'm with you drink are two much money. My wife always ask for ice water with lemon. I save my slips and do the survey at McDonalds and buy one and get one Free, I just go to McDees for a Quarter Pounder with cheese.
Y'all had better have crowns in your next video. Shuttle or trolley routes between villages and to the major rec centers, grocery stores, drugstores, medical offices, etc would be fantastic. My dad lives in a retirement community and they have shuttles like that. My sister lives with dad to assist him and she can drive, but I like knowing that if the car has any trouble, they can get important places.
That trolley idea of them running between the squares would be especially good idea when there’s a parade because it gets so crowded with people coming from all over in the villages and in the towns outside the villages so it’s extremely hard to find a parking place
Linda, and Jerry if you wanted to, you could volunteer in tutoring at the schools near the villages they always need tutors and then you can make your own hours and days.
Thanks! I think the trolley shuttle between the squares is a very good idea! I had to go into the far reaches of my mind to get today's word scramble, but I finally solved it! Love and appreciate what you two do to entertain us! Thank you! ❤❤
Hi Folks, The photo you showed of the DeLuna Flooding is of our street- Mabel Terrace and is 2 houses away from ours. The reason the street flooded is because the ferocity of the rain dislodged the pine mulch in our yards and carried it to the street, and then to the drain in the center of the street. The house next to the blocked drain had water all the way up to the bottom lip of the garage.
I really dislike the pine straw mulch. It's not attractive and now causing problems with the drains. They try to cut corners by using pine straw mulch and now look at what it's going to cost to fix this drainage problem. They need to stick to what worked in the first place.
@@PietrinaBravata Agree that the pine straw is not always the fanciest looking, but it does do a fairly good job of weed control and it composts to the benefit of the plants. Just ask the Garden Club. :-)
I can't believe you had to film this twice. such dedication. As for the trolly, what they did in a touristy area near my town was implement it during the busy season. Mostly to reduce the car traffic. It worked well.
I think doing things like having a trolley and a bus in places where people can’t drive also helps them because some people are driving that shouldn’t be driving such as maybe they’re on medication or they have poor vision.
There’s no way to live in the villages on $1100 a month. Figure all insurance, food , gas, other bills and I don’t buy it. Car upkeep and Medicare bills.
With today's parents, I would NOT want to be a teacher. I remember whenever we had a substitute teacher, we would play all kinds of jokes on them. I think a shuttle between the squares is a GREAT idea! TV could make use of all those trolleys they own. I've heard that Square One is very good. I probably heard that here, LOL. Those onion rings looked GREAT, Linda! We usually like a mushroom - swiss burger. I almost always drink water or unsweetened iced tea /unsweetened iced coffee. Who are the Country Divas? I love Clint Black!!! As far as the scramble, I know what it is, but not what it's called. I'll have to give this one a little time to see if I can jog my memory. Sweet and Salty is my fave. LOVED Linda "adjusting her crown", and Brenda W can get over it. Maybe Bernadette and Bob can become friendly with that poor guy who bought in Richmond (hoping to make friends) and found himself surrounded by renters. Thanks for another TERRIFIC show!
l know 2 couples that lives in the Villages and they love it there. They have been there 10+ years. Active seniors and they love all the activities there. They highly encourage their friends to come out and retire there. They really think highly of the community. They have saved well so money is no issue. They pay whatever dues are to be made. They partake in whatever activities they enjoy the most. l did spend a weekend with one of the couples back in 2012 and l had a good time. The grounds are beautiful and l love all the golf carts. l think it's a fun place to retire. lm glad l know folks there so l can visit. Your videos are good info and it looks like you 2 are enjoying too. Happy retirement to both of you and keep sharing as you do....
We will be on our way to The Villages tomorrow! 🤗 We close in Lake Denham on 10 October! We hope to see you at some point! Thanks for all of the great information. You helped us get ready for our arrival! 😊 ❤
thanks for the content, tune in to learn about your town. my ears perked up when you spoke about turf lawns. I would check with State Law on turf lawns are allowed. (Federal Law on other items such as solar array or satellite dishes). Lots of HOAs have rules that have been trumped by Federal or State law amendments, so even though they are on the books they are not enforceable. For example, Federal and State Laws on Fair Housing Acts, FCC law on satellite dishes, solar arrays, State law on rain water collection or Xieroscaped lawns for water conservation. Point is never accept the HOA/POA/COAs old rules as the Gospel. Federal and State laws change constantly and may reverse HOA rules.
I hope you got a new dog. And I hope the bad jokes did not hasten his departure :( poor little guy (sad face). I am on my fourth dog.... it is bad to be dogless.
Happy Monday!! Another great mailbag. 💌📫 I was very impressed with the community watch info and Beverly letting you know about your garage door. WOW! More evidence that TV really is Florida’s Friendliest Home Town. ❤ Have a great week. Best! 🌴
“ Your cousin Eddie can’t come ~plug into in your electricity and live in your driveway “ favorite line 😂 The trolly idea is fantastic! Have a good week
Just found your channel. I had a smile on my face while watching. (well until I read in the comments that Gizmo was gone) We lost our little Elvis (shih tzu who was 19) during the pandemic, and we ended up getting a standard poodle last year! He brings us lots of joy but I remember the heart ache and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Sad for your loss....RIP Gizmo.
I’m semi retired living in NC. Love watching these videos from The Villages. I don’t have any real desire to live there, but have fun watching you guys. Just wanted to let you know I supplement my social security by Substitute teaching. I only do it a couple days a week and only at the best High School, which is 5 minutes away. The kids are all super well behaved and all their work is on their laptops. All I have to do is give out bathroom passes and make $120 a day for 5 hours of watching RU-vid videos! It’s the best gig I’ve ever had!Shhhh! Don’t tell. Lol
I live in SWFL (cape coral) and the taxes and insurance are ridiculous! I will probably have to move when I retire in a few years... Definitely interested in the Villages if it's affordable... Average home price? Is there an HOA??
Having a trolley would also cut down on some of the DUIs that I read about in the villages. A few people have even been critically injured by a drunk drivers in the villages. Maybe somebody will bring this to the developers attention?!
Jerry and Linda plus Gismo. Anybody that says you are loud and obnoxious needs to go find something else to watch. They are jealous of your nice program that helps a lot of people. Your video's are peaceful to watch and informative. Let them try and make a program of their own I don't think they have the skills to entertain us like you do. My parents and I watch a lot of your video's. We lived in Bradenton back in 1997 at the new water front plan called The Inlets for 3 years loved the home and boat behind the house but we moved back to California partly work related. Now we live in Leisure World Seal Beach 55+ near the beach. Keep the video's coming Bert from California. 😎🇺🇸⛱️
We have artificial turf in our backyard - we have a Charlotte bungalow courtyard villa !! We love it!!! So much easier to pick up dog poo when it doesn’t fall deep into the grass.
I would be very interested if you would interview TV homeowner that can live and pay all bills on $1100 a month. I've ran the numbers with minimums for line items and it doesn't add up. There are probably a lot of your loyal followers and others that would also be interested in this wonderful budget. Thanks for all your hard work.
I would also be interested in this interview. We know this person must not have a mortgage, but $1,100 per month...how does her or she do it? My late Dad lived pretty frugally in eastern Iowa, which is a fairly low cost area of the country, but his living expenses were still in the low $20K's per year the last few years.
Who could afford $1800 dollars each month to live in the Villages! OMG, if you buy the cheapest patio villa, and then look at the taxes and monthly fees! And then tell me your husband had his heart attack! When he saw the numbers!!!!! What the hech! and of course if you have a heart attack and need to be transported to a Level 4 or 5 Hospital from the Villages, what is that cost?
I stopped buying iced tea when it got above $2.50 I think it’s ridiculous to have it three dollars or three $.50. All IT is a tiny bit of tea and the rest is water and ice. I’m already paying 20% tip or more !!
$200+ for cable TV. Oh my God. All that for channels you do not watch. I have internet for $55/Mo and Netflix for about $10/Mo. Between internet and Netflix I watch what I want when I want. Also, does that burger joint have an adult menu to order from so we don't get a kids meal like you show?
I've done some podcasting myself, and nothing is worse than having to rerecord. It's never better than the first version. But, we appreciate the effort, keep up the great work! Regarding the 2-4 seater golf carts... if you've got visitors, it's very cheap to rent a cart.
Hello Gary & Linda, I always enjoy watching your videos, maybe some day I will live at the Villages. Right now I live in Maryland. Keep up the great work that you do and ignore the rude negative people. I think they are not happy people. Much love, Petra LaForest
Dont you worrry that your old neighbors might see what you said about their kids? I love hearing the sound of children enjoying themselves which is why I would never live in a retirement community. 😊
Don't accept delivery of the package/Gizmo's supplement. RETURN TO SENDER, then you won't have to pay return shipping. Contact your credit card & stop payment. Tell them your problem/frustration with company. They should stand by you. Good luck! Love you both. Thanks for spending your time sharing so much for us. Sally
When I lived in the Memphis area I drank unsweet tea almost exclusively, even though it is slightly bitter. I just got used to it. Now that I live in the Florida panhandle, I've started adding about 10% sweet to my tea because the water down here has a noticeably funky taste that can only be masked by adding a little sugar. I've heard from real estate guys in the Cape Coral area that their water is less than stellar as well, having a slight sulfurous smell. How's the tap water in TV?
If it's true that you lost gizmo, so sorry. We still have our dachshund Snickers. He will be 17 in December. Not as active as he once was. Lot's of sleeping but still eats. I am sure it will be in the near future we will be in the same situation. No more doggies for us when it happens.
$1100 per month...that's $13,200 annually. My property taxes for a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1,000 square foot townhouse in suburban Chicago are just shy of $3,000. Car insurance for my 10 year old car is $700 per year, condo insurance is $350 annually. How this person's living expenses are $13,200 annually...wow I would love to see her budget.
? People keep expressing condolences about Gizmo's passing, but I don't see anything about it in the videos. I'll sure miss the little guy. I love how he kept laying his head on Jerry's arm. 😢 RIP buddy 🌈
Hi Jerry and Linda. Recent subscriber here, but I've really been enjoying your content over the past few months. I'm 41 and not yet able to retire, but if I were to ever move to The Villages, it would probably be in a villa. So far, I don't think I've seen Village De Laguna on one of your cart tours? To me, it's one of the most unique neighborhoods... tiled roofs, some villas have private courtyards with a pool overlooking a small pond and the golf course. Totally different from the typical homes I've seen in any of your videos so far. Just seems so chic and serene. But it does come at a higher price tag... a 2br/3ba is listed at almost 600k and needs some updating inside. One can always dream 😅
