I don't have an app, but few years ago I joined my local library. I borrow books monthly and because I have time frames, I hold myself accountable, and when I have free time, I read the books I borrow. I also have kindle unlimited, which allows me to borrow books for free, so again plenty to read. I honestly think, reading saved my life, especially when my mum was unwell and when she passed. My brain really needed the stillness and quiet time to process the grief and heartbreak. I love a good thriller, or cheeky romance, and recently got in to herbology and learning about herbs and medicinal plants. Your furbubies are such a cute and playful pair. Look after yourself Catherine, take the time to nourish your soul and tend to your heart. I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your ideas and life with us. Sending love your way 💖

Hi 👋 Catherine. My daughter was having the same issues as you, so she set a daily time limit for her phone usage. 10 mins with coffee in the morning. Then 10 mins every 2 hrs for rest of day. If she couldn't get stuff done in that time, she just shifted to the next time frame. She also never takes her phone to bed. She plugs it in in the kitchen overnight to charge. I'm so very proud of her it's only been two months. She falls asleep faster❤ has two new hobbies, gardening and crochet . Her house is cleaner, etc.

❤ I SO love and appreciated that you addressed the Cell phone use! Countless people, including my 14 year old granddaughter, are totally consumed with needing to be on them! It is an addiction…and not easy to to break such a habit! We are losing far too much important TIME in our daily life…and it certainly doesn’t encourage good health! ❤

Yes, its so hard when the social media apps are made to be addictive to the brain, and when you start to stop using them, its like you have muscle memory and pick up the phone without thinking. After a few days it does feel great when your head feels clearer x

haha, the struggle is real. Also, we have no local cat groomers here, its all dog groomers. The vet offers to trim nails etc but they associate the vet with stress, we need more kitty spas

I agree with you on social media, I also get the same feelings if I’m scrolling around too much and start feeling a little bit depressed. It definitely helps to minimize and going for walks or learning a new craft or reading., it makes me feel better about myself and I feel happier. Love the green wallpaper ❤

I took a 24 hour break from all media, spent that time in a dark, quiet room relaxing. slept 5 hours addition to nightime sleep. Feeling refreshed!

This was another really lovely video. The new wallpaper looks beautiful and I would add to other viewers comments thanking the owner for letting us see the DIY on their room. There is nothing so satisfying as a ‘before and after’ view bringing new life into a room or space. Everyone has a space that needs a refresh every few years (including me) and I wished I was as efficient at it as you are Catherine. Catherine, I always enjoy your vlog! I must say, you are wise beyond your years! good for you to recognize and take action :) I do work full time outside of my home, so I stay pretty busy - I'm not a big social media person but I will say, when I do spend time ( too much time) I don't feel well. The same is true for television. I think we all have a word for the year, and mine is intentional. I am trying to be more intentional with my time and how I spend it. I am intentional about a slower life and being content with what I have and where I am in life. I find I have more joy with less screen time. I really do feel a sense of calm and down to earth reality from your vlog. I've been following along now for about 4 years and I am always encouraged and inspired. Love the content with your cute fur babies Catherine! I can’t see enough of their interaction around your daily tasks, as I no longer have any more of these cuddly creatures in my life. I have so many photos of mine in funny situations and mischievous behaviour like yours too. I also think there is nothing as calming as a cat for a pet. They are usually so affectionate and love nothing more than to be with their owners - especially when you don’t want them walking over or thinking your project is time to play?!😂😂🐈‍⬛❤️

That was lovely! I struggle with iPad time but the channels I follow and my evening reading time feels healthy to me. It’s the mindless FB and Instagram scrolling. Too much noise. Definitely not healthy. Time spent in the garden or painting, decluttering, decorating - now that’s living. Especially when you add a 112 Golden Retriever to the mix. We converted part of our basement into two bedrooms. Your videos have inspired me so much. I love cozy, cottage spaces that are easy to care for. Thank you Catherine!

I had a long hair cat once years ago. My advice is to get both of your cats use to shaving their paw pads. Especially the long haired one. It helps prevent litter from spreading around your home. Cuts down on cleaning and germs! Love your channel ❤️!

I have the rule to put my phone/laptop down at least one hour before sleep. I use the hour to read. And I love it. I´ve done it for almost one year and already gone throught more than 50 books. It also helps me to fall asleep faster.

Persian cat mom here, I comb them every morning and they get lots of treats after combing, cleaning their eyes, brushing their teeth, and sometimes clipping nails. Perks of cats with long hair. Tender bellies make washing needed. I cut the hair around their heinies too. So nothing wrong with that. They are so unhappy if something sticks there. I have Royal Canin food for Persians, there's anti-hairball in it. Regulates that for them. And I am a bit bossy, so no drama scenes when combing, it has to be done 😉

Hi Catherine, loving the kitty content! Always want more 🐈🐈‍⬛ 😻. The weather is strange this year🤔 very hit and miss but I do not have a dryer either, no room! 1930’s house, tiny kitchen diner. But if there is a good drying day, everything and anything will get washed to freshen up, throws, cushion covers and winter puffa coat’s, nothing is safe! Suze 🤗

I love the wallpaper you selected for the living room project! I bet the homeowner will be amazed at what some paint and paper can do to a room! Thank you for the tip about using advice from paint/paper specialists. My daughter is a paint specialist for a large paint company, and did I seek her advice when repainting my exterior door? Well, no I didn’t. I didn’t use the correct primer nor paint. Now it looks like a peeling, bubbled alligator skin!😳🤦🏻‍♀️ She’s like, “Mom…all you had to do was ask.” Subscribers, listen to Catherine! Same here with the phone and ipad. I waste too much time playing games and scrolling! It's hard to break that habit. We haven't had tv since 2003! I used to get so much done in a day. Now, my hubby does the dishes because I just don't.😳 My garden and my home are suffering because of all my screen time. I can't take my phone in the garden with me because my friends call me a lot, and I don't get much done. I have a stack of books by the couch to encourage reading every night instead of screen time. It hasn't stuck yet. I have read a couple chapters in one of my new books. I need to get back to it.😊

This video is perfect timing. I have always been a reader, and when I was dusting my bookcase the other day, I couldn’t remember the last time I actually read a book, and realised it was before I got an I pad! We’re talking YEARS! I was horrified and quite sad. Oh my goodness, you are so lucky that your window bars are between your panes. We have a very large house and all of the windows have the small panes and are so fiddly to keep clean. We also have multiple set of 10 pane French doors inside. I recently caved in and paid someone to clean them all inside and out and it took them 1/4 of the time (or less) that it would have taken us. Speaking of books, your beautiful signed book is still beside my bed, but I have not had time to read it yet. Work has been so busy (we own 2 businesses) as we are coming up to the end of the financial year here in Australia so I need to have all of the bookkeeping up to date by the end of June. I am going to reward myself with a relaxing weekend soon with a long soak in the bath, reading some books and magazines and enjoying some of my favourite treats.

Cats are adorable. In the book shelf. ha ha. Mine too. A year already. I love to hang my bed sheets to dry. They smell and feel so good when you go to bed. The faux bead board wall paper is really nice. What I can see will be a lovely room. Thanks for the video. Have a great weekend.

I've literally just done my sofa covers! Great drying days 😊 Re windows: I clean the living room ones everyday as my dog & cat use it to view our street, so wet noses and paw prints everyday. The sage wallpaper you used at the beginning is very similar to the one I have in my bedroom, it's very calming 😊

I had to laugh when you mentioned the good drying weather. I live in N Ireland and I was one of those people earlier this week with a clothes line full because of the good drying 😊. I don't have a drier either so good drying weather makes me wash everything in site. Lovely video. Wallpaper and painting come so easy to you. I need to do some but needing some motivation. Alkyd, enamel, latex can all be very confusing. I look at the clean up instructions if I am not sure if it's oil or water based paint. I groom my cats daily with a slicker, Kong and comb, and still I am covered in fur! Love my babies :) Love to you and prayers for your mom.

100% agree Cathy..I can get overwhelmed, stop what I'm doing and scoll. One thing that helps me is my smart watch has been updated and let's me see incoming calls so when I'm upstairs, I'll leave phone downstairs and vice versa. I bought these wireless charging stations so just leave phones on them. I have mild ADD / ADHD and tup live to be organised, label everything etc but when a few things are lying out on my craft desk, despite having a place for them, it overwhelms me ans I shut the door. I also start doing something downstairs, go upstairs for something then start doing somewhere there! Bugs the hell outta me so I'm trying to write myself notes, not on my phone and stick to what the plan on the notes are. I find that helps. Sad news..my old black cat Jack, aged at least 20, passes last week. He was being treated for an eye ulcer ( yup he was still out climbing trees) anyway it suddenly got worse but he had been off his food , was mire clingy and not himself. Vet decided to give him a bit of sedation to get a good examination of his eye, he was snuggled over my shoulder, nuzzling my neck, his fav position and he just passed. Vet was shocked. But I guess it was his time and why eye suddenly got worse and he hadn't been himself. He's back home now but the two dogs miss him and are still off their food! God it's hard isn't it! Warm today but blowing a hoolie, so yup, duvets, covers and cushion covers all got out and dried in no time. .I even decluttered my " linen closet " and have three carrier bags fir charity shop! Can't resist a bargain then gets put away and....hood for you being such a young lass but realising social media/ scrolling is unhealthy/ addictive and ti.e wasting! Wise old head on young shoulders! I colour coordinate my tshirts etc in my drawers and wardrobes and books too, my pal's say I'm a bit " anal" but I like being organised ! I also shave my dogs bums and their trouser area as yup often get very poppy stained! Vet laughs and says he's never seen such clean neat bums on german shepherds! 😂😂Hope the decorating you're doing goes well but hey if we don't see the final result so, people outta be private and their home is their sanctuary and I agree with you that people them scared of the trolls and nasty comments! God Social Media seemed like such a good idea and a way to keep in touch, share pics, sadly that's not been the case😢. Enjoy your weekend and hope you don't have the storm we're currently having in Scotland. I can't sleep for the high winds! ❤❤

I don't have Instagram or X so that's easy. I do have Facebook but since Easter I decided to step back from it. I go on to wish people Happy Birthday. I have family who live abroad and around the country so I need it for that. I'm on a few Facebook groups some for health issues and some for updates on my local area. I mainly use FB on my tablet not my phone so that eliminates a lot of use. I joined a knit and natter group so I've found a love of knitting. This last few months I've been doing embroidery which I've enjoyed . I've found hobbies like that help to keep me away from my phone. I also like to walk most days and I don't take my phone. I know people use social media for work and business so that's different but I don't. I must admit I feel better for not using it so much, a lot of it is people boasting and some of it's made up. ❤

I had to take my Leo to get a Sanitary shave ! He got litter stuck, constantly on his Bum. I have never had trouble with my other 2 cats. He is longer haired. I changed to Pellet litter with a tray that pulls out for pee pads. I really like it, and he is cleaner and does not track litter all through the house. Now I need to learn to shave hom if needed in the future.

I kinda picked up these things along the way, not having much budget for my home, I learned to upcycle/diy to save money. I like to do evening classes too, so the likes of sewing and woodwork I did over the years x
