The sportier, track-focused version of the Nissan Z has arrived! With the 2024 model year, the Z gets the NISMO trim, which brings a whole list of upgrades. Everything ranging from chassis stiffening, re-tuned steering, upgraded brakes, revised styling for a more aggressive look and aerodynamic performance, new wheels with sticker tiers and plenty of other tweaks to improve the performance and dynamics of the Nissan sports car. We had the opportunity to spend a couple days living with the Z NISMO to see what it was like. Is it worth the $68k price tag? Is it better than the regular Z? Is it better than a Supra? Viewers, its 70k because times have changed concerning the price of goods, inflation, power of currency etc. That said, for 70k, there are better options. I am confused as to what demographic this is for. 70k for an auto non dct track toy? Better options. 70k for a sporty daily driver? Better options. Another big issue for me; bargain bin parts car - engine from q50/60, trans from q50/60, chassis from prior 370z. Nissan touts this as a brand new car when it isnt

I don't think people cross shop sports cars the way they cross shop everyday grocery getters. People normally buy what they like if it's in their price range.

But they literally don't, they say it's just an evolution even in the chassis code, RZ34 instead of Z35. This is what gets me about car makers, they have great quick cars that just need a refresh every now and then to keep selling them to folks who like the brand, Like Honda could have kept making the S2K with some minor tweaks. Folks like myself are never going to buy a "bargain basement" BMW or Porsche for similar cash, the performance difference doesn't matter. The exterior elements of this Z are just a greatest hits of visual appeal, and I would hit the aftermarket to replace the bits I don't like on a MT base model. In fact if they called the base model the "tuner model" they would sell a lot more of them!

Wrong, this a not a transmission from a q50/q60, it’s a brand new transmission all together. It share some similarities with the 9 speed titan i think but it’s still tuned differently and the nismo has extra upgraded clutch packs for every clutch in the 9 speed which i think is 6. You aren’t getting that from the q50 or q60

For those complaining about the price, in 1996 a 300zxtt was $44,356 adjusted for inflation equals $85,763.70 in 2023, not even a “Nismo” as there was no “Nismo” trim then.

I own a 370Z and personally I still like the exterior styling much better than the current model Z. The rear lights are the best looking thing on this new version. Interior is just as disappointing as the 370. For that much money you need to have two tone leather options for seats and car door panels. At least they put Apple Car Play in it. Suspension is probably tuned better. But for nearly $70K, I’d just keep my 370 and give it performance parts for less than what I’d pay to get this Z, especially with only a 50 hp difference. Buy a 370 for around 20K and put 10K more for proabably around 600hp-ish.

Even bmw/toyota realized the public was right & offered the manual gb option for the supra. The Z always needs a manual option regardless of the factory trim level.

Good video and reflection on things. That said, I'd rather keep my '15 Nismo than look into "upgrading" to this platform. After trying things myself, the new Z is nothing more than a $40k 370 Nismo with another $20k twin-turbo tuned by Nissan thrown in it. I supercharged mine and ended up with more horsepower and torque for waaaay less than Nissan wants to admit. On a side note, the car is supposed to compete with the Supra and still isn't even close in performance.

Thanks for the review! First time seeing night footage. Would have been cooling the6 illuminated the side rear quarter Zs like the previous model's fender Zs! Key fob needs to be updated, especially for the NISMO! And yeah, this ain't $70k! $50 - $60k would probably be way more forgiving with some things it's lacking. But I still see one in my future! 😂

Yeah I hope they do an interior refresh in a few years to match the awesome exterior. If they had a driver focused interior like the Z32 had that would be amazing. I would still get a MT base models and pick the Z1, AMS, SPL Parts, and Nismo mods I want. That Nismo 1.5 way LSD and bumper covers will definitely be my first mods!

If this came in manual, I'd consider it. Not that I have anything against an auto, especially these days, but if I were going to get a Z, I'm so torn between this and the 300ZX Twin Turbo from the 90s that if it came down to it... I think I'd get the ZX with a 5 speed.

I’ve driven all three trim packages, the best bang for the buck is the Z with Performance trim package, it handles great, you can get a 6 speed manual ( huge benefit ), you can’t get a stick in the Nizmo for $12K more ?, unless your gonna track the Z, buy the Trim performance package

Yes those cars are better in the number wars and blah blah blah but if someone is seriously considering a nismo z over a supra and m2 there’s definitely a reason as to why. Nismo has better steering feel and is more connected/old school than those cars from what every reviewer is saying. Not everything is about track times. You can’t drive a track time, you drive what is in front of you and if you spent your money on a nismo z over the competitors than the Z has to be doing something better than those competitors

Hear me out just a concept... If you can put a shift lever (similar to sequential) and change the gears with a lever I think it would be way more engaging. Up is to go up down for low gears pretty simple. To then also be able to revert to auto would be awesome.

That's a lot of dollars for the Nismo (exterior updated/changes are nice) , but it's an Auto. If it were me , get the base manual for $41-43k , and do upgrades the first 10-20k miles , even then be under $50k.

@@StephenPasco_ Nah, this Z Nismo as it is, is an amazing sports car. It’s fast, looks beautiful, true Japanese heritage, it is also reliable. The Supra or the Q60 are not any more fun than this (maybe the Manual Supra is, but Nissan will make the Manual happen). I really believe the Supra is not a better choice, it is just a choice the offers the same amount of joy when you drive it.

Supra has better engine(close deck vs open deck), better interior(BMW interior vs cheap Nissan interior), better infotainment, better transmission(both manual or auto), better features(Nissan (Nissan still using those shitty ass manual seats from the 370Z), Supra has adjustable dampers, etc.. just to name a few on top of my head. Even at the same price range, lets not even compare the Nismo Z over the G87 M2 cause its not even in the same league.

As a nissan sportscar enthusiast, the new Z is nice looking in this white colour, inside few things remind to the 370Z, except the digital speedo. Also the automatic in my opinion doesn´t fit to such a car! I´d really rather prefer to keep my 370Z Nismo instead of dealing with the new Z, even if it´s more powerful. The driver feeling might be better in the old one

Some parts seem "old" because this is a retro car. They took parts of all the z's and put it on this one. Nissan, literally said it from the beginning so idk why dudes act surprised. Yeah, the slushbox only just puts it up against too many other competitors. People who would buy such a hardcore car want a MT, they should have just put in an upgraded CD009/A. Like every T.50 is going to be H shift, and pretty much any used sports car gets more for a MT version than an auto.

As a 2010 nismo owner, this thing is just awful. Even with inflation it's comically overpriced and there are much better cars for that amount of money. I was considering the upgrade, but I'd be better off spending 15-20k to properly boost mine and then another 5-10k on interior and exterior mods to modernize it.

Wow $70K US money? That is ouch mate. Anyway no manual is a bummer although the example you gave with the paddle controls it seems it lets you shift when you want it to shift? Not like a GR86 auto where it seems like you are driving a true 2000 style auto that wont let you downshift until it hits a certain rpm. Like the 370 this Z looks very nice but seems to lack something. I can’t put my finger on it… like a good fried rice but they forgot the soy sauce. 😅 First time I have seen your video and your comments were informative and logical …great job mate.

She says 2000s only because of interiors. Even as 2003 car, only RX-8 NC ND Miata has more advanced chassis design on normal road cars. BMW stil, on struts for M3/4

You know you’re nitpicking when you’re complaining about the key fob 🙄 1) does it do what it needs to? 2) it’s the same as the GT-R one sans the logo 3) who cares.
