Yeah, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I have never heard a single complaint about the suspension or the tires on the Trident. In fact, they are often times 2 major praises that the bike gets. Better suspension than the comparable mt-07/ xsr 700 and sv650 and the Michelin Pilot 5s get massive praise for being a tire with great tread pattern for rain and a compound that is sticky on the sides for gripping in the corners and hard in the middle for longevity. I can understand the throttle complaint but when he went after the tires and suspension I basically had to chalk it up to bias or something.

The Trident pumps out 80 HP. How much more does anyone really need on the road?
@tg8150
@tg8150 3 года назад
Actually, it only makes 72 at the rear wheel and 42 lb/ft of torque. It’s pretty poochy. I went from an FZ-07 to the Trident- I wish I had my FZ back. It’s lighter, had more torque, felt way faster and the throttle on the Trident is downright dangerously awful. It will sit there and hang after you’ve pulled the clutch in and then there’s the delay- it responds about a half second after you rev it. It’s just terrible. I got the Trident because the new MT-09 is still not at dealers. I will be selling this Trident next spring.
@NicePantsLance
@NicePantsLance 2 года назад
72 at the rear wheel is approximately 80hp at the crank, which is how all manufacturers quote power specs. On another note, it's hard to beat the playfulness of the Mt07. The Trident is so smooth and controlled. Not for everyone

All motorcycles have their pluses and minuses. It seems like they do reviews that are bipolar at times. This bike is awesome one week...this bike has slow throttle response, poor suspension, ect...the next week, lol. To be fair, he started to explain what this bike was good for and designed to do by the end of the video. I think Triumph did what they set out to do with this bike. Make enough power to grow into yet make the throttle response and power delivery beginner friendly or for experienced riders that want a more relaxed ride without having to constantly focus on their throttle wrist at a great price point. If you want a Triumph with more grunt you can buy the street or speed triple. I find most bikes that are the best to live with as primary transportation over the long run get lack luster reviews and the most exciting bikes are hard to live with daily or long term. My primary bike is an FZ6 and has power delivery that seem like his explanation. Not much under 4k and starts to pick up around 6k. For most normal road riding it ride great between 4-8k. Yes, sometimes I would like more low end grunt but for most my riding it is great. If I really want to go nuts I can just go somewhere remote and keep it between 8k and 14k.
@Remymoto
@Remymoto 3 года назад
Yup. He even said it toward the end. For a lot of riders they just want a more relaxed ride and city friendly throttle without it being boring when they want to open it up. Having a more mild early power band keeps you from having issues in traffic and it isn't like you need to rev it to the moon like some of the sport bikes when you want power. It's not a V twin cruiser and it's not a traditional naked sport bike, but it's not a super sport either. The power delivery actually appeals to me quite a bit.

Sadly most new bikes, even the r1 and zx10 do the same thing. It's harder to notice because they are still bigger engines but same problem

What a missed opportunity on this bike! I come from a 2010 Street Triple R and this motorcycle just tipped all my points in terms of looks and added electronic features compared to my currently "raw" ride. I was just hoping for them to keep the punch of the triple-cylinder of the STriple, but apparently, they toned it down too much. They probably did that on purpose to not cannibalize the STriple market. I will try it to get a personal idea, but I don't think I will "upgrade".

This is a review consistent with someone that has been a veteran biker. This is a great second bike to carve the turns, very nimble and the lower end torque picks up great. I bought a Tiger 800 for off road and found myself carving the turns. I got the Trident and really enjoy the corners. This is a sport naked, it acts like a sport naked, I have had a few. But it is very nimble compared to the others. Veteran bikers will find it boring, my Tiger 800 will out accelerate it on the highway but in the city this bike is king.

@@adamrichmond6348 No problem man! I feel the pain of being a bigger rider and cringing at people when they ask "hey so and so, I'm 5"7, can I fit on this bike" when more than likely most bikes aren't built for us bigger people without looking like a bear humping a basketball. So, my advice would be just to sit on one, and get the salesperson to take a profile picture of you sitting on the bike in the proper riding position to see if you think you look weird on it. The Trident definitely isn't a big bike, short wheele base and thin tank so if most of your height is in your legs rather than an even split between torso and legs it may not be the best bike for you fit wise. Hope some of that helps! Edit: by "profile picture" I meant a side picture of you as if you were riding past them and they were on the side of the road.

@@Suplex. For the first ~480 km it flashed the rev bar at 4000 rpm, after that it let me go to 5k, after about 980 km, the next step is 6000, and somewhere 1300 km I unlocked the 7000 rpms, I'm currently at 1570 km and It's still flashed at 7000 on my way home. Actually there is a shift assist or something like that in the menu, that's the flashing telling you to shift. So the bike is in "running-in" mode by default for the first 1000 miles (about 1600 km), after that it changes to "default" according to the owners manual. I had the first service at 940 km btw and nothing changed. They probably set Whiskey's bike to default or he just unlocked the 6000 rpm step because 600 miles are about 960 km-s and that's somewhere when I unlocked it. I wrote 980 km but it was probably 960 (on the way home from the triumph service) because it's logical for the bike to "think" in miles because it's a british product. I didn't feel any throttle or engine difference tho, only the unleashed power of the higher rpms.

You seem to stuck with MT-07 over this bike. MT-07 is probably better in term or performance or technical spec, but it looks like any other naked bike on the road, nothing special to me. While this Trident has awesome design and it stands out from the crowd. To me, that is worth more than anything else.

I picked up a really lightly used '22 about 6 weeks ago. It keeps being referred to as a beginner bike and I do get that it'd be a pretty good one (if the person at least has some previous dirt experience). But the "My first motorcycyle ever" crowd? Maybe not so much. "Beginner bike" has a negative connotation that would make seasoned riders maybe dismiss it. This is not my first bike, but 5th, the last being a '15 Ducati Streetfighter. While the Trident way less powerful and slow in comparison, it's not a slow feeling bike, you just need to really wring it out to get some speed. Overall I feel like it's about a perfect "all-rounder" which is exactly what I was looking for. It's quick, smooth as butter, handles great, has a great seating position, etc. It's doesn't do anything perfectly, but it seems to do everything well. I was looking for something of a Swiss Army knife and feel like I got it. Don't get me wrong though, there are some times when I wish it had 40 more hp, haha

I actually enjoy the throttle slop, sue me! Most of my daily riding is in rain mode for max mpg. I know for fact a remap of the ecu would resolve the slop. Would be nice to have a 3rd ride mode option, a "sport" mode so to speak.

I love the look of this bike, but I can’t justify replacing my ‘18 SV650. I obviously enjoy the more classic look (example I do not like the look of a Yamaha MT bike), but you’re basically getting a better electronics package and not much else other than 5 horsepower. I don’t care about quickshifters etc. I’ve already upgraded to a JW Speaker LED headlight so I’m just not able to justify it (plus no local dealer makes ownership a pain in the a**). I would still love to ride one though, and that may change my mind!

I think the yammie noob team needs to buy a touring bike, doesn’t matter if it a goldwing a Chieftan or a road glide ,I think they should add a touring bike because all they do is naked, sport bikes, and cruisers and adv, I’ve yet to see a true touring bike with bags and a fairing

I guess it depends how tall you are. I'm 6'2 and the Triumph fit me better. When I sat on the Ducati it felt a bit smaller. I think the H-D Softail Standard is an excellent beginner or commuter bike. Bike could use a windshield and bags. Bike needs a cruise control installed. Very stable and lots of torque. Handles nice for a Harley. Edit: I almost forgot the thing gets 50 MPG.
@somebiker3459
@somebiker3459 3 года назад
I agree with the commuter part, 50 mpg sounds like a stretch maybe if your really conservative on the throttle and keep the engine bone stock no slip ons or anything, my sportster started sucking down the gas like chocolate milk after a stage one
@jimmorrison306
@jimmorrison306 3 года назад
@@somebiker3459 , it is completely stock. I’ve been real careful and got 53 MPG on a group ride. I’m dying to at least put pipes on it because it sounds like a Honda, but the mileage will go out the window.
