Lizzo - About Damn Time (Bass Cover) 

What makes Julia such a damn good bass player is that she listens to the music around her. You can hear in a lot of her fills that she will follow melodies or lines from other instruments and then add her own spin on them. Sometimes even transferring from one instrument's line to another instrument's line in the same fill. That and her ability to sit right in the pocket and keep perfect time. Very inspiring playing.

Her groovy gestures and facial expressions make the performance richer.

That little stop at 1:28 shows how she appreciate the groove so much! The groove is the one who controls her, not the other way around

I don't know why some guitarists dislike bass, it's such a chill instrument and the backbone of so many songs

I had to replay 1:25 about 10 times before I could accept how unbelievably slick and perfect that run was.

what makes this better is that i don’t remember the original bass on this song being so rich and groovy. her bass playing feels like such an inprovement, it’s refreshing

When I first heard the original bass part, it sounded as if written with your eventual cover in mind - the lick at 2:49 is one of your best examples of adding something extra while still serving the song.
