Lloyd Cole is an absolute treasure and a huge inspiration. The guy is a genius. Songs he did 37 years ago I'll never forget and it's the only reason I'm here now. "Easy Pieces"
Totally underappreciated. I've seen him live and acoustic twice, this year and last, he is so masterful on the guitar. I was a fan 30 years ago and my appreciation just gets stronger.
Yeah, me too Julia. 30 years ago then, now and today! Lloyd has, and is a part of my life and history from listening to his records to playing covers of Perfect Skin in our band. The man is a Genius. xox
I love him. Saw him twice in Concert and his voice is marvellous. I remember the first time he was in shock that so many people loved him in Portugal. He's great.
A GEM. Rattlesnakes is still in my all time top ten albums - jostling with The Smiths, The Specials, Beck, Massive Attack and Elvis C. Such a special guy - and so real: he signed my album with no fuss at all post-show here in NZ in 2014. If you want an intimate live performance experience with charm and killer songs, go see Lloyd and his band.
I'm British and want to reclaim him! Seriously, when he's around in England, I'm not the only one who seeks out the gigs. I've seen him about 10 times - hope he comes and sings in the North-West again soon. Still remember Hebden Bridge (my home town). I've been a dyed-in the-wool fan since I was 16. He's still got it...
You want to leave me, baby, be my guest All I'm going to do is cry And then I'm gonna find me someone else And tear the stars out of the sky Looking for something when there's nothing there to be found Make it easy on yourself Go out and find your body someone else Or tear the stars out of the sky Baby you're too well read Baby you're too well spoken Baby you're too pristine When I cry, do you feel anything? Baby you're too well read You want to leave me, baby, be my guest All I'm going to do is cry And then I'm gonna find me someone else And tear the stars out of the sky Baby you're too well read Baby you're too well spoken Baby you're far too clean When I cry, do you feel anything? Baby you're too well read You don't need me anymore You don't need me anymore They say storms are rife for summertime Well baby, I'm long gone What are you going to do when you open your eyes It's a brand new day and baby No blue skies? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YH74tgueBJY.html
Saw Lloyd in a tiny venue in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, many years ago. It was like sitting in your own living room, watching and listening to a maestro!! Incredibly talented and humble guy. 👍🎸🏴
Yes that was exactly my experience too !! I thought he was gonna be rubbish because the place was almost empty.......but he and his band were absolutely brilliant.
He was so kind to me upon meeting him after a concert in Chicago. So soft spoken and so grateful for my attendance to his concert. I was deeply touched...
His music was an essential part of my 80s youth. I can remember staying up all night with a girl named Charlotte listening the Rattlesnakes record over and over. Sweet memories.
Dylan Lundgren your paps is prolly gonna be disappointed that his son is really a ladyboy that gives head for five dollars. He prolly wished that he never fondled you when you were young. But you had perfect skin so how could he resist? Amirite?
I love the music of this man since so many years ago. It's good to see that he still is great :) Love that he still plays "Are you ready to be heartbroken"
Some of the best live shows I saw in the 80's were Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. Still listening 30+ years on. Too bad radio doesn't play him more often. The song "Rattlesnakes" would be in MY top 100 songs of my lifetime.
I like how British musicians can be serious and calm, and American musicians always seem to be yakking and screaming and yukking it up. Its refeshing - to see a man who can just be himself, and be intelligent. Love Lloyd for many years.. just brilliant.
Lloyd Cole is one of my favourite song writers he needs an award like Dylan Just as good in a different way , poet , wordsmith with rhythm...... Musician , and humble man .
That was a real treat, thank you so much and thank you Lloyd... I live in Brisbane Queensland Australia and we booked our tickets today for Lloyd's Concert here in Brissy on the 15th December! Can't Wait!! Bring its on, Rattle Snakes and all!! Love, Ashley. x
I knew My Bag with The Commotions and then The New York album. Absolutely brilliant songs, beautiful voice and wonderful guitar licks and original. Love him. Hey Lloyd ! Big shout from Dakar Senegal 🇸🇳 west Africa ❤️❤️❤️ a fan of you. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I work sometimes where this chap grew up, often think of some songs when im working in or driving through chapel. Good stuff and a great artist! And from what i hear a great bloke as well :)
I love this intreview, and how Lloyd is performing, and the amazing interaction between you, Cheryl and Lloyd. Just feeling so nice. I am coming back to this clip, and I will now and then. Thank you Cheryl, and you Lloyd. Brilliant!
The first serious music, band (LC & The Commotions), and musician I got into as I grew from a teen into a young man, soon into my 20s in the early to mid 80s.. Rattlesnakes and Easy Pieces were my first such albums at that time of my life.. Both classics.. THANK YOU LLOYD COLE!!...
1985 and 19 years old. Driving down the west coast of Victoria with my glittering prize next to me. The tape stretching a little more every time we played it.
@@Schlatman - Guesswork is in tied with DIIV - Deceiver for album of the year. 2 totally different artists and records, but they're the 2 best so far in 2019.
Love you so much! Thank you for this great acoustic session. Tes chansons sont aussi un peu les miennes. Que de souvenirs et d'émotions...et quelle voix Lloyd! Merci. Sylvie
That kickoff of "2cv" is beyond glorious! Lloyd is truly of the finest singer/songwriter geniuses of the 80's or any other decade (Morrissey, Paddy McAloon, Green Gartside and Roddy Frame were the others). A true fan here whose music took me through my confusing high school years and through the discovery of my college years where the world was just as confusing as it is now. I actually have an interview on cassette Lloyd did back in '88. And he sounds exactly the same.
I discovered him when I worked in an Independent Bookstore in the early 90's! The Manager was really cool 😎! He was in rotation with Bands like Yellow Kate Bush They Might be Giants! Pre Fab Sprouts He was my favorite! Still is! Someone more recent who reminds me of him a little bit would be Damien Jurado! Love Everything Trying!
Heard that voice for the 1st time when my (late) sister bought the Rattlesnakes LP back in '84 when I was about 12...still beautiful and always brings back great memories...I was just sitting in my room while the kids were going wild in the bath playing Traffic on my guitar...anyone know wtf a 'birdland' is?
Well I say bands, but: Ian McCulloch (Mainly drunken ramblings with just a few songs inbetween); Blancmange (Only 1 of 2 left) and very dark (More Noirmange) ... Actually Wedding Present were still alive and kicking strongly and Lloyd Cole was just fantastic.
I need to write a reprise to Camera Obscura's "Lloyd, Are Your Ready To Be Heartbroken" and call it "Lloyd, you're a better singer than when you first started". See if he responds then! What a man, and what a mellifluous voice the interviewer has. ASMR without knowing it.
