Great set, that shows how well these pieces of different ages fit together. Timeless music as any real good music is. Thanks for the soundtrack to my life, PW
Needed real music fan Cheryl Waters to do the hosting.... she would've asked the right questions. Weller can be a tad grumpy with fools as evidenced here. PW has 40 yrs rock and roll experience to boast/draw on so he has earned the right to act any way he chooses. The Modfather ages like fine wine...
What a catalogue - unlike most artist of his age, Paul continues to add to his canon with a new classic or two every year. He's too much a working class hero to rest on his laurels.
What you on about fella ? He answered every question, I think perhaps that you misinterpret Paul's humour and playful comments as being "standoffish". Anyway, like any serious musician Mr Weller and his excellent band were primarily there to play.
Yeah, would be nice to get a version of this with the interview bits edited out! He keeps going on about the cycling, even though Paul shows little interest and discredits his story about the knighthood.
I know right? The song is totally transformed by his age and maturity...yet you can also hear the soulful intuition that drove The Jam in their raw and exuberant way. That's the joy of it really - to redefine the past in terms of its necessity for the present, without prostituting or perverting its original message. What an inspired and brilliant life.
Weller reminds me of my dad (in spirit)...except I probably know more about the bloke on this video...since my old man was, for want of better words, 'a lost soul'
If you can't get to see Paul Weller himself , get to a Modfathers gig, the best Weller tribute around...just search The Modfathers Weller tribute on Google
Ghosts is one of my fav tracks..i've often thought a "mood" album spanning all of Wellers career Jam/TSC/Solo and even collaborations and covers, would be a #1 hit without a doubt..thing about Paul is despite being known for the energetic stuff he has always wrote cracking classic love songs..from "i need you" "english rose" etc. right up to his latest work..get it made Mr.Weller.
💓 Love Paul Weller ? If you cant get to see him live... check out the next best thing ... our awesome tribute The Modfathers, a four piece band playing hits from The Jam, The Style Council + Wellers solo career...more details here : facebook.com/themodfathers🎸❤
Paul shuns the adulation but it has to be said how enhancing his music has been to many millions of lives. He seems to get better the older he gets. I love that he also still does some of his classics for his followers. City Streets sounds like something Terry Callier might have given us. Love it all.
The energy vibration and consciousness of your voice saves me Paul. Please know how much you influence people to stay connected to our sovereignty. The music saved me.
Shame he was a bit of a bit of a dick in the interview, the guy was obviously trying to make a connection. Thought he’d outgrown this stuff, the sole reason he didn’t make it in the states - they don’t get the reason someone is there but don’t want to be.
Paul Weller's line up here, I recognise the great Steve Craddock, Andy Lewis, Andy Croft from the "Paul Weller live BBC 4 sessions "(2008) video. All multi-talented musicians, a cracking performance! If not seen it check it out. :)
The top man , unlike NG not great army interview , but has always let his music do the talkin, has always surrounded himself wiv great musicians and backing singers..up there wiv the all time greats.. LEGEND.. Keep the Faith !
