The important thing to note is that all the other mid-sized trucks are too narrow in the bed (plus have too much wheel well intrusion, and their bed being 4 inches shorter than the Honda's in their crew cab configurations) and cannot haul a standard ATV (or 4x8 building materials) in the beds. Now, call me a conspiracy theorist, but also note that Honda is the only mid-sized truck manufacturer that doesn't offer a full-sized truck. Perhaps the utility of the other mid-sized trucks is intentionally limited to encourage full-sized sales?
Exactly. Modern "full size" monster trucks on the road are unnecessary and impractical for 90% of applications. But hey, if you wanna burn gas to look cool and pull that one oversized camper one time out of the year, so be it.
For unloading my atv, i made a little contraption. I got a heavy chain and two heavy duty carabiners. I attached it to the upper tie downs. I would then attach my winch and let it down the ramp. Real easy, no excitement at all.
The one thing that would worry me is when the 4 wheeler is on the ramps. That is applying the full weight of the 4 wheeler 400+ lbs (I'm guessing) onto the very back of the tailgate (The part with the most leverage) which is only designed to hold 300 lbs (Per Honda) because of the single cable on the tailgate. I get that once it's in there, the weight is a non issue, but the beginning of the loading is a nail biter. Seems to work, but keep an eye on your steel cable for degredation. I only have dirtbikes for my Ridgeline, so they are under 300 lbs.
Since the tie down hooks are in the left and right corners and your winch hook is in the center, I don't see that working. I'd stick with ratchet straps to keep it pulled forward on both sides.
