Yeah I was worried about the ramps kicking out when he went up. The straps weren't tight holding the ramps. I've loaded a quad in a truck and blipped the throttle a little too hard and kicked the ramp out. The quad fell halfway off the truck and I bailed to get out of the way.

@@loganholmberg2295 it’s actually more like 5’’8 inches and not 5 and half as they said. Tip would be that it is really easy to break the rear cab window, or dent the bed in the center if your push bar extends past the tires. Especially with lower powered ATV's that need some throttle to get over the tire humps.

@@MrChadx1 good eye, as i understand, the ramps lay between the tailgate and the ground, but when loading/unloading the atv , the compression on the suspensions and the atv power (and the weight by itself) could make changes in the forces and the grip of the ramp. that could also change the tension on the straps, change general forces and their position/direction ... A double hook at the top end of the ramps could help avoiding a failure when loading/unloading the atv, not to mention drivers ability and how they use the throttle...

@@chemawatersa377 Compression of the pickup suspension makes the safety straps tighter (not looser) because a shorter distance between the tailgate and ramp creates a force on the ramp pushing away (not towards) the back of the truck. Only way for a strap to be that loose while loading is it was not tightened before the suspension squats and loading has begun.

It isn't loaded until it is tied down and the ramps are also on board and tied down (since you can't close the tailgate). And FWIW, 5-1/2ft bed? Sigh... I struggle with my little truck's 6ft bed. 6-1/2ft is amazingly more versatile than 6ft. I'm considering if my next truck will be 6-1/2 or the full 8ft, or if I'll just give up and go for the trailer.

I've tried reaching out to truck manufacturers and they won't answer me. Maybe you guys will have better luck and let us know. Since somethings like an ATV/motorcycle are very heavy and need to roll over the tailgate I feel it would be good to know.

The point of this particular video was the width, not length, because this model is the only factory wide-stance ATV (around 10" wider than typical 4x4 utility ATV) and they are comparing to see if it could fit through the bed rails and wheel wells.
