All of your videos about the Pentax are so pleasing to watch. I love how you say “this is the end” at the end!

When first advancing the leader before closing the back, use your thumb to restrain the supply spool to put tension on the paper leader as it initially loads on the take-up spool. This insures that it tightly wraps on the spool. Failure to do this may lead to a loose wrap, which in turn will bulge as more film is wound onto the take-up spool. This can lead to the film jamming in the take-up chamber before the whole roll is shot. It's discussed in the camera manual, but it took 15 years before it happened to me in my ignorance.

Very good when holding the avance lever when bringing it back. Letting it go will have a bad impact on internal mechanisms and premature wearing.

Thank you for this- once it’s all done and it’s rolled up, does that mean I can take it out without it being damaged by the sun / light etc? Or will I need to kee it in my camera til processinf
@PhotoTeacherBlog
@PhotoTeacherBlog 6 месяцев назад
Yes, when it's rolled up you can take it out of the camera. However, check to make sure that the roll is nice and tight so that no light leaks around the edge of the paper. Also protect the roll from bright light, like sun. The light can leak around the edges, even when it is tightly wound. You can also keep exposed rolls in a box to protect them from light.

When I get to the end of a roll the winder will only wind once at a time and I’ve had to click the shutter button over and over until I’m sure the roll is all the way onto the right side. Why is this happening?
@PhotoTeacherBlog

It sounds like your camera is set for 220 length film. Double check the exposure control dial on the side. This should adjust the counter so that when you reach the end it starts to wind. See it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2aK3hlOH4tk.html.

@@PhotoTeacherBlog my film counter is not giving me an accurate reading, I noticed that the small switch on the right seems to pointed up to the 220 mode, my thought is that the counter is not correct because it thinks the first few shots were 220 backing. Is this right or is my frame counter just broken? Just got the camera today

I haven't hit the end of the roll yet, so I won't be sure until then.
@PhotoTeacherBlog
@PhotoTeacherBlog 3 года назад
@@jordysanchez2815 Oh yes, what I meant before. It's a typo (fixed). The thing on the right is the exposure counter control dial. You can use a coin to turn it to 120 and that should fix the issue. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2aK3hlOH4tk.html.

@@jordysanchez2815 Hope your roll is coming out as expected. The start point in 220 and 120 film is very close (see marks on inside), so at most you might loose one exposure if you have it set wrong.

Hey, so I have a question! Is it normal for the winder to have a lot of tension when winding before the first exposure? It seems to be fine when it doesn't have a roll and when its proceeding to the other exposures.
@PhotoTeacherBlog
@PhotoTeacherBlog 2 года назад
Excess tension is likely a sign that something is wrong. Forcing it could make problems worse, so I recommend taking it to a repair shop for a check-up.

Hi love the video, quick question tho, i have a pentax 6x7 but mine while advancing the winder to the first exposure won't lock like yours, i can keep winding until the last frame without releasing shutter, is that a problem?
@PhotoTeacherBlog
@PhotoTeacherBlog 3 года назад
Without seeing the camera, it's hard to determine what the problem is. The first thing to check is that the back is completely closed before you advance the film to the first frame. Press the back firmly until the latch engages. If that does not resolve the issue, it might require repair.
