Love you guys video and content. Im a cdl holder of 12yrs and currently work for the railroad. Purchased a 2021 5500 and started my LLC last year. I cant wait to get my 5 car hauler. Thank you for posting and sharing the knowledge. Much love from Elk Grove ca☑️
I have been watching your videos for tips, I'm going to buy a 4 or 5 car hauler. I am not a Hotshot driver, I am a collector that simply wants to haul my collection of Shelby's & Fords to the shows. I have ordered a brand new 2023 F450 with a 32,000 towing capacity. The thing I've been wondering is if I need a CDL? again I am not for hire, just a retired hobbyist.
A vehicle towing a trailer with a GVWR or GVW of 10,000 pounds or less may be legally operated with a noncommercial Class C in California DL (Section 12804.9[b][3][A] CVC). I would check with your CHP.
Hi thank you for the videos. I love the content and technical explanations. I’m retired military logistics transporter. I use to have a take 3 wedge and 3500 Dually but had an accident and sold my equipment in 2018. I’m restarting my car transport again after 5 years and was thinking of getting new equipment. I’m definitely looking at the Eazy4 but as far as the truck do you recommend 5500 Trades man over the Freightliner m2 Sport. Anything helps. Thank you
Hello Kalieskrims814, Thank you for watching. The Dodge 5500 is a good truck, I've used it for 2.4 years without any issues and it pulls the Ez4 full load easily. If you can afford the extra cost of the Freightliner m2 Sport they have a smoother ride.
I am curious how you got involved with car hauling? Did you work for a company before you went on your own? I'm an owner operator with almost 30 years of experience and looking to get into car hauling. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
I had been a LTL driver for 24 years. I got hired at Caltrans as a Operator 2 I thought it might have been my last job. I was there 4 years and didn’t like it, I saw car haulers often pass me by. Prior to Caltrans I considered it, I saved money sold some toys quit Caltrans and started car hauling as my own business. I have a video How I started Hotshot car hauling business. I uploaded a month ago.
I would like to get into the business what do you recommend i can can afford a 5500 Ram but i don’t know nothing about the car trailers so give me some tips i really would appreciated
No you have a CDL? If you do but are not comfortable with a three car trailer start with a two. If you have CDL experience then a four Kaufman ez4 are easy to load.
All used the Trailer was 2 years old I paid $12,400. Truck was $36,000 it was three years old but only had 90k miles. The Holland fifth wheel setup cost me $1,000. The Holland is my second setup the first was a 30k Reese I paid $1,000 but wasn't happy with all the play.
Did you ever consider using a tractor to pull the trailer? It seems that would be better than the Dodge or Ford correct? Are those modified pickups built to pull that kind of weight?
The Dodge 5500 is built to haul more than I need (Ez4 car trailer is 25k GVWR). In the future I may upgrade to a 5 or 6 car trailer at that paint I’ll use a tractor.
Question….. when you guys registered your vehicle what were the numbers? Being that your truck is prob 19k gvwr and your trailer is 26k would amount to 45k if im correct?
@@riosautotransportllc i purchased my truck as far as my weight tag on my paper for DMV i was a bit confused. Thank you sooo much for your help God bless you guys🤝
Yes, I have a 2016 Dodge 5500 84" wheelbase truck and a 2017 Kaufman EZ 4 trailer with upgraded mesh. I'm using a used Holland 5th wheel with a modified kingpin plate.
@@riosautotransportllc I have the Ram (3500) Dually (Cummings) my bad. Not the 4500 or 5500’ can i use that??Maybe in the future I get a bigger one. Thanks Elmano.
