Wow Robert, just what I needed. I was actually convinced I couldn't find a doorbell that ✔all the boxes so I started looking at video doorstation (like the Dahua VTO2211G-P) but I still wasn't convinced, also the prices for some of those are very high. Also I think I do my research well but your hands on approach buying all those bells and actually testing the features instead of making a review for each bell and reading the specs like most others do is refreshing.

I've been using dahua vto (larger model) and love it. Excellent video day and night. Captured on doorbell SD card if needed. Super fast on internal VTH which you did not mention as well as on the app. But even better I can automate my lock through a dry contact and they are really well built and that vto won't be stolen easily... It was the first time I ever pre-ordered and patiently waited for a product and after watching this video I realized it was worthwhile. All my cameras systems are reolink POE, I have them connected to home assistant and everything works flawlessly. Even the current firmware already support pressed button events sent to HA, I have programed the doorbell dign dong sound through my Bose audio system at home via home assistant in addition to the Included chime from reolink.

@salernod2812
@salernod2812 Год назад
@Brian Meissen I was initially using the HACS version which met all my requirements with sensors for everything, for people motion, cars motions, doorbell button, etc. Then I changed to new stock integration released this year and found only a handful of sensors for my cameras losing most of my automations. So I went back to the hacs version and that is what I'm using now.

4:30 If your doorbell camera isn't properly sending motion and button press events the best option can be to send the video feed to frigate and rely on person detection. You could also use an esp32 to detect the doorbell chime for button events but that might be a bit out of scope.

Great video! I have a ton of Reolink and Amcrest products. Re the amcrest bitrate/image quality issue, most of this is fixable by logging into the camera's web based interface. They actually have (at least for the amcrest cameras I own) a TON of image quality settings, including bitrate (of course), and more importantly, shutter timing and HDR settings. By upping the bitrate, using h.265 if available, and adjusting frame times you can really get a much better image. This is specifically how I configured an Amcrest doorbell cam at a relative's house to significantly improve image quality from what was capable in their crappy doorbell app.

As usual, a great and comprehensive review Rob. My issue is similar to one that you have (or maybe had) - my home was built without a wired doorbell, so I have NO existing wiring. I've looked at pulling some bell wire, but there is no easy access from either my roof or basement. So, at this point, the Ring doorbell is not ideal, but has a removable rechargeable battery. My hope is that one day someone will offer a battery powered, non-cloud option. I guess I will have to be patient.

Fantastic video, thanks for taking the time (and expense) of doing this. One question re the reolink chime: does the light ring flash when the doorbell is pressed or is it always on? Thanks for the video, for me a big factor that (I believe) you miss is the response time between someone ringing your door and you answering. With my Unifi doorbell, if someone rings the door, most of the time by the time I open the app and talk, the person (typically the postman) is gone already.... it should be way quicker to answer. Another point would be the quality of WIFI reception, I m under the impression that my doorbell has a poor antenna placement and therefore is not able to get a perfect signal if I do not have an access point very close. And that could explain why I m not sure about your test at 5 feet as I believe that my G4 gives me a way better image quality.

As I run Dahua for my main cameras, I was excited to see a review of their doorbell camera. Followed but gut wrenching disappointment over the lack of clarity in video. I've always been against reolink due to their cloud stance, but this surprised me at their ability to open up locally. Biggest counterpoint I'd make is that you make an assumption that everyone already has a doorbell wired up. But for those of us with older homes, wireless battery doorbells might have been all that were used, so running poe is no different than running a doorbell wire. Unless of course we just go pure battery powered, but those all seem to be cloud only models.

For anyone with the AD410, do not use Amcrest Surveillance Pro to make any modifications to your doorbell video settings. It results in a weird flickering, grainy image, and overall lower quality. The only way to resolve it is by resetting the device.
@markgrotte2968
@markgrotte2968 Год назад
The sharpness on this camera is screwed up. If you use this software it defaults all the image settings back to 50%. Change sharpness to 0, apply, then move it back up to 10 to 15 while testing view. You can eliminate defaulting it this way and still benefit from changing the bit rate, quality etc... to get a much better image out of it.

I just tried my Amcrest AD410 with the Dahua DMSS app, using LAN connection only and the 2-way audio is working just fine, I can hear the sound from the camera and by pressing the microphone button I can talk to it aswell. I am however using the Android version of the app, so I wouldn't totally rule it out. I just wish I could use the speaker on the camera as the media_player in HA so I can send TTS messages to it.

Could you hook a relay compatible with Home Assistant in parallel with your doorbell on the low voltage AC lines to trigger your existing chimes with the Reolink Doorbells?

Didn't see it noted but the reolink also supports both 2.4 and 5Ghz wifi.. Which is semi rare for wireless security cameras in general and important for higher bitrates. Sure enough my current doorbell is almost dead and the Reolink doorbells are not in stock.

Amcrest has a support page to use 2-Way-Audio in Blue Iris. Worked for me.

Can you share the link with me (and anyone else reading this)?

I just tried again with no luck. Any time I press the microphone button it disconnects the camera.

@@TheHookUp At the moment I have these settings. But I don't know if it makes a difference. Probably copied from some forum. /cam/realmonitor?channel={CAMNO}&subtype=0&authbasic={AUTH64} /cam/realmonitor?channel={CAMNO}&subtype=1&authbasic={AUTH64}

Getting RTSP 404 not found with those settings. Very strange.

@@TheHookUp Nice following this thread I was able to get two way talk working for AD410 in BlueIris. After reading up how on 2way talks in BlueIris looks like 2 way talk is implemented based on the camera manufacturer. So in order to get it to work you must specify the manufactuer, you mentioned you got the Dahua app to work. So in blueiris specify the Make: Dahua, Model: *Main Stream RTSP. After doing this you will end up with the links @LR mentioned. Niceee, strange googling didn't straight give the answer. No one seems to made a top line post about this.

Thank you, great video. Wish you included the Univision unit, it seems better than the reolink

Sure hope the Reolink PoE is the doorbell many of us have been waiting for. I see Reolink has delayed the rollout to December. No big deal if it delivers. Plenty of folks have homes wired with CAT 5 or 6 at their doorbell locations but have very few doorbell options in the marketplace to pick from. (i.e., finding one that is truly POE as well as being with ONVIF and RTSP compliant, will work with 3rd party NVR's, has a nice smartphone app and will provide all the advantages of a doorbell like Ring... but without a monthly subscription. Past Reolink products have been plagued with problems but I'm hoping they get it right this time. Would be great to see Ring Doorbell get knocked down a couple pegs.

For the unifi cameras, I've been able to access them locally without using the cloud login. You just need to make a local account within your local UI console (I'm using a UDM Pro)

Yes. But you cannot use that to discover your protect server via VPN when using it remotely.

@@TheHookUp From what I recall, I had to manually enter the protect server info... I'll need to check again and will report back!

Great video as always Rob. I would love to see a video on comparing the mobile apps for the various NVR platforms. I like BI but it is a little difficult for the wife. I would like to do a Reolink system but the reviews on the app are horrible. Not sure if that is because of user error or actually the app.

Sure wished the Reolink worked with existing chimes. Not sure what the next best pick would be.
