Couple small school guys off the top of my head Mickey Peters went to Holiday before moving to weatherford. Same thing for Doege at Crane, Eric Morris Shallowater, Nic Shimonek Mildred all played at 2A schools. Rockdale might’ve been 2A when Laraven was there, and Reginald Davis played at 1A Tenaha

In Big 12 Play Techs EPA Offensively is Middle of the pack of Big 12 With North Texas and ACU wins. If you Take those two games away and strictly in Big 12 you're in the back of Big 12 offensively. Thats what Tech Fans see and complain about. The Offense Disappears at times and if you look at the whole body of work the past 3 years offensively there's some left to be desired from that group. Tim Deruyter on the other hand yes the defense has regressed this year it's a clear problem but the whole body of work the past 3 years is much better than the latter. Interesting that all the stand-outs, particularly on defense are from the Spike era, which is when we last expected defense here. Leach couldn't care less about defense, but had the players and play calling to out-score people. Ironically not caring about defense is why Leach never won (or even sniffed) a conference title.
They have said we still have defenders not doing their job and they are trying to do other guys job, so im not ready to talk about TDs seat being warm. Also he obviously has schemes and other things that he has dialed back to try and make it easier on our defense, so i think the defenders need time to come alive and they need to be disciplined 1 to 3 out of 11 guys that may be not doing their job can make a defense get beat.
We've bragged about recruiting for 3 years now, yet we still don't have the players? We are pretty much only using McGuire's recruits, so if it is a talent issue, then we really didn't recruit very well at all. Most of the coaches who are bad here, tend to be bad elsewhere. Those who were average here, were average elsewhere, and those who were good here, are good elsewhere. Some coaches were at their best at Tech, like Carlen and Leach. Our problem with our D is that Hutchings and Bradford are gone. We have some DT production, better than edge production, but we still miss those guys. They were the most under rated CFB players the last 2 seasons. I've been publicly coitizing AhYou for a while now and feel he will be a casualty at season's end.
The deruter talk has unfortunately been the product of recency bias. The past few years the offense has been more of the issue with the defense being a bright spot, despite statistics. This year unfortunately is not the same story, the real issue is that the root cause has yet to be explained really.
The root of it has been known since before the season with all of the young guys on defense. They’ve shown that they’re getting better throughout the season but they’re still young and are going to have weeks like last week with Baylor but they’ll pick back up and still continue to grow as players
Feel like TDR's hot seat might be inversely related to Dave Aranda's availability after the season ends. E: and That's who you want to be. Dunno who this team actually is
