Giving credit where credit is due -- going through all those locks could have been disastrous, if not for the calm, cool, light-hearted supervision of Vera from her command seat. Mom and Dad helped a bit too.

So cool to see another country's lock system. I live 2 minutes from the Erie Canal which spans from Albany NY to Buffalo NY and was hand dug as well in the 1800s.

Its great that you can navigate that canal with your mast in place. Most similar canals require unstepping the mast due to fixed height restrictions. I'm loving this tour of Sweden, can't wait to visit.

Having grown up on the Thames (UK) at Marlow, my Dad was the lock keeper there, this has dredged up some lovely memories for me. Really nice seeing another country's inland waterways like this. Incidentally, if you Google 'Caen Hill Flight near Devizes, you will see a fantastic flight of locks!

Super nice lock system there! In this area we have the Erie Canal that has some locks on it, mostly around Lockport NY. I have never been through those locks on a boat but have seen boats go through it from shore.

Beautiful canal!! I did it 8 years ago in a Superyacht (as a stew), and it didn't have not even 40 cm spare space in some of the locks. Amazing experience and challenge! And not even one scratch (so many fenders and boards) 😁

That’s one bunch of locks! We have a flight of 5 locks here in New York on the Erie canal. That raise you 170 feet in 1.5 miles. The ones you guys are going through look quite similar.

That lock staircase reminds me of the locks on the Rideau Canal that runs from Ottawa to Kingston, Ontario in Canada. That canal was built by the British around the same time as the Göta Canal. I think there was a lot of canal building in the early 19th century.
