I’ve had my Loco for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. The grease trap is a touch small but I clean it after every use so it’s never really a huge deal. It’s been a little bit of a learning curve as this is my first foray into griddle cooking. Still, it’s been great so far and I’m really enjoying it.
I cut back the little ledge that holds the grease tray and put a 1/3 size steam table pan. I have been loving mine so far for sure. Thanks for watching.
Love mine, I sucked at cooking on the regular grill, had no interest in cooking cause I either undercooked or overcooked everything. I’ve cooked every meal on it for the past week and everything has came out perfect. Bought it cause it looked cool and glad I got the new version though. My first griddle top and it’s definitely sparked my interest in cooking and new passion for sure. Wife doesn’t complain that I’ve been doing all the cooking as well 😂
So, loco is pretty but based on comments, plenty of issues. Also, anybody ever infrared the griddle tops to see if they matched the digital dial? Ever get it to 500°/sear? Thinking “crappy ole” gets the job done better, yes? Thanks for the post.
I have not had any issues with mine. I have temped it and on sear after warming up good I get close to 600 degrees. It's a little pricey but I'm getting new deck or concrete patio so I wanted something that looked a little nicer than my faded out Blackstone. My favorite things so far is the height of the cook top and do like the thermostatically controlled burners. Probably the biggest negative is the grease hole is small and you need to keep it cleaned out or it will clog.
Have been going back and forth about selling out Traeger and getting a griddle instead. Don't have enough room on our patio for a grill, smoker and griddle
I use my griddles more than anything. My poor gas grill has not been touched in 7 years. I have some newer videos of a Halo griddle you should check out. It's more expensive but the best built griddle on the market.
I don’t know why it would give you a temperature on sear. I would think when you have it set to see her it would just be fullbore heat all the time that’s what makes sense to me.
Couple things to point out, the trash bag holder will hold a trash bag OR plastic grocery bags (works great for small cooks!). Also, the match holder--if you roll the chain up around the holder, there should be a clip to hold it just above the upper lip when the door is opened.
I was curious about the match holder. I had it assembled and delivered from Ace hardware and the match holder was hanging down. I have not really read through the manual yet. I plan on seasoning it Saturday. Thanks for watching. I'm going to do a seasoning video on it.
The 2nd generation of this griddle has a significantly larger grease cup that I believe even surpassed the size of the Blackstone. If you buy one of these, make sure it's a Series 2.
Every Blackstone displat Ive ever seen is loose, shakes, and rusty. Never lasts long from friends experiences. The Loco seem to be opposite, every display has been rock solid, the recent sale $499 for the 36" is really unbelievable.
And most people who own Blackstone grills think they’re invincible. They leave them uncovered year after year in the freezing cold winters, rains, winds and oxidizing hot sun and expect it to just fire up and work flawless after those extreme outside conditions! Although the Loco 36” is a nice griddle as well, I seriously doubt it’s a better performer than those 36” or even smaller Blackstone Griddles out there. Seriously. I have a 36” Blackstone with the cabinet i bought from Lowe’s a couple yrs ago. I bought the original cover, and put an another waterproof cover on top of that and it looks and operates like brand new every time I use it! Give me a break! 😆
I have the Loco 36". The right and center burner go out randomly and then you can hear the igniter relight them. It's messed up. Anyone find a resolution to it yet? Have read other reviews where Loco says a new computer is needed but on backorder for months.
The newest Culinary series with the Omnivore top was not out when I made this video. This new culinary series is the first change in the top since the rear grease drain came out. Every model of the 36 has the same top and the same burners the only difference is the base.
The it needs to be plugged in part kind of bothers me, its nice to have cooking sources that are options during an outage. There is always charcoal/wood but something you just turn on is nice to have.
I agree with you that plugging it in is a no go for me. I already have two pellet smokers that stay plugged in so I like having the Blackstone in case of a power outage.
Mine has done great. Loco has a new version out that has an updated burner design and bigger grease trap. If you check out my newer videos I have some on the Halo griddle. Thanks for watching
I was like you and thought it needs 4 burners but after using it I don't miss a 4 burner griddle. You learn and adapt to it. I really enjoy the Loco. It's a cool griddle because it's thermostatically controlled. This one is the 1st generation model and they have a updated model from mine. It looks exactly the same except it has a bigger grease cup and a updated burner design for more even heating.
I noticed the hot spots are just left of each burner dial. Overall I like the Way it cooks. I see Loco has an upgraded version coming out with some improvements.
@@griddlecookeatandmore I have started on low as well. Every time it kicks off and then tried to kick back on, I get the error message. I can see under the griddle that when it kicks off, the small flame (that is supposed to stay lit to relight it) kicks as well. And then the error message pops up.
@@donniekostar9644 Mine does the same thing on the left burner. Getting ready to pull the top off tonite and make sure the ignitor and all are in the right place....is yours cooperating now?
How are you going to compare an older model Blackstone to a new model Loco? You need to compare apples to apples and compare the Loco to a comparable model Blackstone. This review is highly skewed Sir!
From what I see the sensor on some LOCO's are placed too far backward near the flame. It builds carbon on the sensor tip and error out. Move it toward the front of the griddle and just before the holes in the burner where the flame is and it fixed the problem...@@griddlecookeatandmore
