I hate the same thing happen. I was getting ready to meet my friend in game and then realised that i needed to move as I was getting attacked.

This was almost exactly my experience when first logging into Odyssey. I logged on just after this event happened in Horizons (as I hadn't bought Odyssey yet) and everything was fine and dandy. Even spent some time fucking around at the wreckage of the Bright Sentinel and then logged off. About a week later I came back after buying Odyssey, and was not prepared. Luckily, the DBX is decently quick with stripped down Clean Drives, so I managed to low wake before my shield dropped below 50%

I'm sorry, low wake?

@@hisnitch Yeah, low wake. Didn't realise until afterward that a high wake would have been a smarter idea lol

@@billder7304 Clarification: I'm a new player, so I have no idea what a low wake is.

@@hisnitch Ah, should have figured. In Elite, every ship is equipped with an FSD (Frame Shift Drive) as I'm sure you are aware. You can operate it in two separate modes, jumping from system to system, known as a high energy wake (or high wake for short), and moving through a system in supercruise, which when charging the FSD for supercruise from normal space, is known as a low wake. Now, the differences between charging the FSD for low or high wakes are as follows: Low wake charge is quick, you don't need to designate a target beforehand. In the context of combat this might seem great, but when charging for low wake the charge rate is susceptible to mass-locking from other larger ships that are within range. Unlike being next to a station or planet, this mass lock doesn't prevent the charge, but it does slow the charge to a crawl. Conversely, high wake charge takes a bit longer than a low wake would, and before starting your FSD charge you need to have a system locked that you have line of sight to and have sufficient jump range and fuel to reach. The benefit of a high wake in a combat or other dangerous situation is that it isn't impacted by ship mass-lock, allowing you to escape danger even if you are flying a slow ship and your attacker is in a larger, faster one. And now, I shall include that Thargoid interceptor ships all have a high mass-lock rating, and are fairly quick in combat. In my case, logging into Elite after the proteous event had happened while still inside of HIP 22460, I logged on to find myself in normal space. About a minute later an interceptor had dropped on me and opened fire.

Holy shit glad you escaped

Since the "Tharglutter" update, aliens became much more aggressive and even the introduction of "first appearance" got cut out (they shoot you instantly instead of scanning and flying away). Nice that you escaped that system 👍🏻🙄🙂

Thanks for posting! Glad to get to see it - all I saw was an empty system bar a couple of burning ships and disconnects every five minutes (or drop in/out of supercruise, whichever came first). But then again, I'm still playing on Xbox, so what else can I expect? 😂

when we were all waiting for the servers to go down supercruise was a nightmare

@@Izoowoo yeah, I can imagine! Looks like you had a lot of fun and epic moment at least. FWIW, it seems to have settled down on Xbox One now - but the system is basically empty, no Thargoid presence at all.

Nice escape. Notice the fake messages from non-existent cmdrs, in the comms panel, tho? There was no real need for that. Saw them on the xbone too, in solo mode. (Y'all know you don't get msgs in solo, right?) Cool vid, regardless. 👍

You do get messages in solo since these are system wide messages and not local messages. They are real messages

@@SinNombreYQueWea Maybe it's an Odyssey thing. Because in seven years, I've NEVER gotten ANY messages, of any kind, except from npcs. And no, they're not. Don't take it so hard. And don't just believe everything you see.

@@reesetorwad8346 "Don't take it so hard. And don't just believe everything you see." It's okay to be wrong but it'll never fail to piss me off a little when people are this confidently incorrect. First thing is that I believe you can see people's system chat messages in Solo and PG since I believe Chapter 4 beta around 3 or 4 years ago. The second is that you probably don't understand how the chat works. There's tabs for system chat, local chat, squadron chat, etc... so maybe check up on that. Local chat only works for people in that instance; since you're in solo mode nobody but NPC's will ever instance with you. System chat can be read by anyone in the system and is cross game modes. Solo, PG, Open, you can see it anyway. Third thing is that the players sending those messages have usernames that are real and come up in Inara searches. Literally real people. Fourth thing is that they're not even remotely close to being "atmospheric" roleplay messages, they're just messages players would send. 5th thing is that there's literally a message with profanity in there. 6th thing is that you should try going into a CG system or Shinrarta or something, in Solo mode, and check by yourself.

@@reesetorwad8346 they do appear i have communicated with the chat on solo and they definitely communicate like human beings so they are real even told them to rescue me because i was stuck on foot with thargoids swarming and when i went on open play they came and rescued me in the middle of nowhere on the planet fake commanders can not be told to rescue you and then they do
