Ive installed a simple mod the shifter now for a more realistic race car feel.

Interesting tact by Logitech. Rerelease basically the same wheel. Remove some features. Jack the price up. Charge people more to get the features back. Make the features incompatible with some systems. Maybe the next version will ship without a wheel rim.

The shifter allows you to go from 4th gear, spin car around and go directly into Reverse gear, spin back around and back to 4th gear. You can’t do that with a paddle shifter. Don’t say the shifter is pointless.

You might find that the gear stick will be nicer to use if you weren't so rough with it as in a normal manual car you shouldn't slam/force your gear change as its called mechanical sympathy, which you should still do with this. Which will probably also help with the problem of not getting it into the correct gear.

Why does he downshift through all the gears? One of the points of a H shifter is that you can box change and reduce the number of times you use the clutch, like you would when driving in real life.

As you said, you're not gonna be faster with a shifter, it's for a niche which don't want paddle shifter and the buttons are already included in the wheel unlike the G25 and G27. that's why it's not included anymore.

The shifts are terrible.. no need to shift that fast, not even the race car drivers shift that fast. They shift fast but they do it with skill, and let the rpm drop a bit..

I have one for about 1 and a half year, and in the begining ir worked great but as the months go by when i put 6th it has some kind of conflict with 4th and stays indecised about what gear to put, it also happens with 1st and 3rd. But in terms of quality it is great.

You could "mod" it as a sequential shifter unscrewing partially the lateral screws and rapping it with some rubber bands so it returns naturally in the neutral position. When you're done, take out the rubber band and boom.

Do you need to press the clutch in to shift gears with this thing? That's what I'm looking for. If it shifts into gear without clutch it's not gonna feel right. Edit: Crap it's been two years since last comment. I doubt anyone will remember now. Ah well, happy driving peeps.

How would this work with a 12 speed truck like in Truck Simulators? It would be nice if once in 6th gear you could puch a button and shit into the 1st gear slot for 7th gear.

I love the shifter. Personally I don't really race and love drifting, and find it is really good for drifting and feels good with the 6 speed. I think H pattern would throw me off a bit. I've used paddles for racing F1 on FM6 but for drifting or using cars with shifters, I'd go the shifter all the way it's a lot off fun and you can stomp the clutch, change quick and and peel out or take off haha. I love the whole Logitech setup although the brake could go a bit softer but think it can be adjusted a bit and is better when adjusted in game too

it will also occasionally shift into a neighboring gear soon after you have it for awhile. (shift into 2nd and it will be in 4th ingame)

Guys, rather have some miss shifts and let your shifter last for a couple of years than having to use all your power to have a good shift and let your shifter last for a month, the shifter will most likely click into the gear with spring mechanism

very annoyed. spent 150 dollars on the shifter and fl2, but guess what, the fl2 ONLY works with the g25 and g27. now im stuck with an adapter that doesnt support the shifter and no box for the shifter to return because the fl2 took so long to arrive...

I wish my g25 shifter worked with g920... was happy that connectors were the same but when I fired up forza... nothin :(

You CAN use it sequential. Just use the 3rd and 4th gear to do so. It's not optimal, but it gets the job done.

The reason everyone came here Logitech shifter= $48 shipped Th8a shifter= $147 without shipping I remember when I got my first wheel that the th8a was an $80 add on. The price had almost double and I’m sure it will keep going up.

For PC use you can buy/make a cable that allows you to plug direct to USB bypassing the wheel allowing all functions

I got myself a second-hand Logitech G920 with the Logitech shifter to use with my Xbox One. One of the big factors when I bought it was price. I could find no second-hand Thrustmaster or Fanatec wheels and it was going to work out to be close to AU$1000 for a full Thrustmaster rig (wheel, pedals with clutch, and shifter), whereas I picked up the full Logitech rig for just under AU$300. The cons aren't a big issue for me as I'm not a hard-core sim racer, I just wanted it for fun, and the Logitech G920 and Logitech shifter were perfect for that. Great review though, I do agree that the G29/920 shifter is just a repackaged G27 shifter :P

I had a G27 for a couple of years and hated the shifter. Got a T500 and TH8a and used the bump stick or synchro mode and loved it. Got bored, switched to H pattern. Actually the throw, for my usage, is too long, and shifts are slow. But, I ordered a short shift kit for it from Ricmotech. Still waiting on that, but it has only been 3 days. Point of this ramble is that yes I am slower with the H pattern, but it is more enjoyable. For now at least... Other point is if you can get one shifter that does both, do it.

I would not mind at all if the separation of the shifter from the wheel resulted in a cheaper wheel, that would allow more freedom of choice for another shifter. The problem is here we have the same wheel being sold at twice the price with fewer accessories...
